AutoCAD 2010 :: Visually Indicate Start And End Points On A Line?
Oct 29, 2013
I know that I can find which points are which by checking the properties, but I am wondering if there is a way to (for example) edit the grips so that they indicate which end is which, like how they are used in dynamic blocks to show how an object can stretch. This isn't a problem that requires an imeediate fix, but would be nice if there were such an option.
Is there a way of reversing the start and end points of a line? I have a lot of mirrored lines on my model, and so the direction (start/end) is also mirrored. This poses a problem when i export the model to another program witch has a coordinate system based on the direction of the entity (in this case a line). So i come back to the question, is it possible to change(reverse) the start/end position to already drawn (mirrored) lines? Btw i am using acad2011
I would like to make a block with 2 points and I would like them to follow a line with those 2 points..
Same as you can use the measure command to put blocks on a line with a pitch distance I would like to do the same but the block schould snap with 2 points on the line.
I cant start drawing an object from anywhere else( ie. inside a grid) except form the points where grid lines intersect. How do i go back to old system? I need to get some work done fast.
I was drawing a lot of lines with the pointer that stuck at the end of the line and after that it stuck at the beginning of the other line (i hope you understand what i mean). I don't know what i pressed but now this function is not active and is very difficult to draw the lines.
I am trying to do a drawing but there's a function I forget. I want to start a line from a section of another line. How to do something to skip a distance from a start point of a line to the position you want.
My first lisp, so bring it hard on me I want to be an expert in autolisp .
My lisp is meant to do the following:
draw a rectangle with ”0” fillet. It can be done either via rectangle command, or pline command. The attached lisp has the variant with the pline-case.
The, I need to draw inside a smaller rectangle, with a fillet value, that is promoted and indicated by the user. The smaller rectangle must be centered inside the bigger one. I thought it was a good idea, to take one insertion-point for the bigger rectangle.
and to calculate a 2-nd insertion-point for the smaller rectangle, via "polar" function.
What I get:
the 2-nd insertion point is put the same as the 1-st one.
I wish to draw the bigger rectangle with one layer "example: Layer 1", and the smaller rectangle with another layer "example: Layer 2".
I am having a problem with starts and ends of lines. I have draw two lines, end of first is start of second. The problem is because, (cdr (assoc 11 (entget line1))) and (cdr (assoc 10 (entget line2))), somehow, are not the same,
I am look at a way to place the start of a line a certain distance away from the end of another endpoint. Is there a more productive way of doing this rather than drawing one line on the x axis and another on the y axis.
I've created a series of images utilizing symbols.
Basically the images are of a box. Each side of the box has different content.
I create the side content flat with an encompassing rectangle. Drag all this to the Symbol Panel to create a symbol (no 9-slice no align to grid set). I then take a symbol instance and use Object > Envelope Distort > Apply with Mesh - 1 row, 1 column and proceed to transform the symbol into position on the packaging.
This works.
I can easily double-click the symbol and edit the side of the package with no problem. Exit symbol editing mode and the symbol instance(s) update. Perfect.
Until.....
I close the file. Return to it 12-18 hours later and open it to see that visually my symbols are no longer positioned correctly. I click, the symbol/emvelope is still in the correct position, but the preview on screen shows no transformation. This incorrect visual appearnce translates to print and save for web as well. So it's more than simply an inaccurate preview. The symbol has actually broken out of its container incorrectly.
To explain further.
When I save the file it looks like this:
The grey box indicates the symbol/envelope bounding area.
When I reopen the file the next day it looks like this:
The symbol/envelope is still in the correct position but the symbol contents are completely incorrect. There seems no way to reset the symbol other than to delete what's there and redo the transformations.
There is nothing overly complicated about the artwork within the symbol. It's all text or line art, no effects or transformations within the symbol itself.
I want to crop an image visually, by sliding the cropping bars by eye. Not by typing in a specific size. How do I do that? My cropping tool seems to be set on some dimension. I've "reset" it, tried recropping from the "original" but still when I move the top horizontal bar in the cropping tool, it automatically is moving the vertical sides. As if a preset size/dimension/ratio is applied to it. Although I didn't apply any such dimension.
Creating sample lines at a specific increment within a range starting from the start of the range is impossible unless the start of the range is divisible by the increment. This is a defect that needs fixing.
Meanwhile you'll find me typing in the 93 locations for my sample lines. I believe this is what we made computers for.
I recently just installed Autocad 2012, using a student licence obtained from the autodesk website. I entered my serial number and product key, and it said that it was suceesfully installed. It even launched, however now when I launch Autocad 2012 the start up screen appears, it says its initialzing, it loads then nothing appears on my screen or even my taskbar, I'm running Windows 7 professional 32 bit.
I have a feature line, and a labels table created for it. The table has the following columns: Line or Curve #, Station, Segment Start X, Segment Start Y, Segment Start X, Bearing/Delta, Length, Radius, Grade Ahead.
what code I need for the table to display the station of the feature line at the start of the segment?
I also have an alignment with the same stationing over top of the feature line, but Im not sure how to code a reference text into the table either. I can create an end segment reference text for the plan view labels but even if I copy that code into the labels table it doesn't work.
Just last week I was working just fine. When trying to access the product today, as usual the A5 sized "Loading" starts but when the product is to appear it just shuts off. It is not indicating what the error is through a dialog box, hence, I am not sure what the problem may be.
I have check various discussion groups which say it may arise from FLEX related files or CascadeInfo.cas but nothing changed. I have also done an entire un installation of the product and Installed it from scratch. The problem persists.

I would like to get more advanced and creative with my creations. basically when i think AutoCAD i think lines so a nice short program to get started with is to create a line between two point (or simular). The tutorials online are wofel in learning the basics such as this is, need few starters on how to achieve this
I'm having a constant problem with Autocad 2010LT crashing on startup. After clicking on the AutocadLT 2010 icon the program starts to run, I see the start-up screen, and then everything disappears without any notice or error message.
I have installed service Updates 1 and 2 as well as the "Startup Error and Text Editing Hotfix". Nothing that I have read on the forums seems to fix the problem. I'm running Windows 7 Professional (64-bit). I should also mention that I have been running this version of the software on this computer without any issues for over 1 year before encoutering this problem.
I have AutoCAD 2012 on a Win 7 64bit laptop. Ive had it on here for over a year and never had this issue till today. My AutoCAD loads up fine and loads up the default Drawing1 file. However after waiting a few seconds and going to click File, it comes up with Not Responding on the top. I wait patiently for several minutes and it does not recover. Not quite sure what went wrong . My desktop has the same issue. There is a possibility of it being caused by CCleaner after using it to fix errors and it messed with something in the resgistry while doing so but not sure.
I draw a line then use divide command to put some points with equal distance in this line. some points will then are created on this line but when i move the line, the points do not move. I am wondering if these points can permanently stick to the line so that if i change the position of the line, the position of the points will also change.
We are creating a new company title block for the use in Inventor 2010 and AutoCAd 2010. It has initially been generated in Inventor and exported to AutoCAD. My problem is that all attributes that came over are now setup as multiline attributes and I can't seem to change them to single line. Therefore you have to open the multiline editor separately for every single item to make changes in lieu of just 'tabbing' through the values in the Enhanced Attribute Editor. This adds time and frustration and seems to be intolerable for some of my colleagues.
Is there a way to change the attributes to a single line in AutoCAD I'm just not aware of? I tried to find different settings for the export from Inventor but the options seem to be very limited.
I could probably go over this and create separate AutoCad only titleblock and border but that would kind of defeat the purpose.
I created some new custom line types using express tool featute in autocad and I saved it with a .lin extension. It is only available in that drawing itself. How I canget those line type in all my new drawings.
I tired to edit the default linetype file even it doesnot appear in the linetype manger windo.
*IRRIGATION,IRRIGATION LINE A,1,-.066042,["IRR",Standard,y=-.104589,s=.25],-.493243,1 *SEWARAGE,SEWARAGE LINE A,1,-.031293,["SEW",Standard,y=-.104589,s=.25],-.651197,1
I created a linetype using text shape. Let’s say, that my line is only AAAAAA. Now when I apply this linetype in the drawing, the lines always have a small, line before and after the characters. Actually you see this: -AAAA- . How can I delete or hide the start and end lines.
I have configured a client workspace with a customised quick access toolbar and I am using acaddoc.lsp to ensure it is loaded when ACAD is fired up, the problem is, despite forcing the GUI to change wksps by:
(command "wscurrent" "Autocad classic") (princ)
(command "wscurrent" "Barclays Net 2012") (princ)
I can see the swap happening but the quick access bar is missing. If I manually select the current wksp from the switching tool it appears I don't even need to change to a different wksp and on restart it remains visible, it is only occurring on first use.
I can not get certain linetypes to start with the same dash length, see attached. The linetype will start with a longer dash then the stated length, depending on the length of the pline segment. Is there a way to fix this?
Here is the code for one of the linetypes highlighted:
