3ds Max Modeling :: Diving Helmet - Create A Box Then Turbo Smooth It Out To A Sphere
May 22, 2012
I know there are many ways to model this but how would some of you go about it? Would you create a sphere then cut out a spline circle for the ports? Would you create a box then turbo smooth it out to a sphere?
The best that work out was giving it a path constrain to a sphere changing to a rectangle and making some snapshot which it does not give me the specific control I need.
See image to see what I am trying to model, image is from NADAA, and am trying to do something similar to this but I can't.
I'm working on a complex closed object shape originally made from a plane and want to do Boolean to it.
So when a plane get Boolean-ed with a sphere, it just turns to plane with a hole. Different when a standard box get Boolean-ed with a sphere, it turns into a box with a 1/2 sphere hole.
My question is, is it possible to turns a plane into solid 3D objects like box, sphere,etc..? So it's able to get Boolean-ed correctly?
I add a picture of simpler analogy p.s. the box and the box-ed plane is an editable poly
I am modelling on an object which exists of a sphere with a lot of lightbulbs around it. I made asphere and 1 light surrounded by 6 lightbulbs. My intension is to make a perfect symmitrical sphere of lightbulbs.
I work with Autocad Mechanical 2012 (not for so long) and quit new into the world of CAD. I worked with the command array, and that worked fine, but I don't know how to repeat the cluster of 7 bulbs all over the sphere.
I'm using 3DS Max 2012 and am trying to get a cube to rotate around the rotation system of a sphere sitting near by so that the cube looks like it's orbiting the sphere. The problem is that when I go to the coordinates menu and click on Pick, I select the sphere, but the rotation gizmo is still around the cube.
Here's a screenshot to show you what I mean.
See how the sphere is where the coordinates are suppose to be, but they are still around the cube?
I started my head model with a sphere ad I moved vertesis to shaped it, created lips and weld it onto the face, created two spheres that makes the eyes. I added a skin texture, the weldings of vertesis looks planar ang blocky thatn round and I cant seem to make it appear like a pro one. Its even hard to animate. I just wish I can overcome this, im stuck.
I need to form a line/lines with thickness on the surface of a sphere as seen on the attached image. I also want to apply transforms to the line while keeping it stay on the surface. How can I do that?
I am creating a outfit around a basic female model but i was wondering if it is possible to smooth the vertices of the outfit along the body like contouring it to the body instead if selecting every vertices and pushing them in?
I'm trying to make lego arms currently. I'm using two capsules to make the arms. But you can obviously see two capsules were put together. Is there a way to mush the two objects together to make it look like one? I tried connect and Turbosmooth but it's still noticeable.

how I can create a similar looking image, I want to learn to make my spheres into perfect circles and I want to learn how they do the effect at the top center to gather all the words tightly at the tip.
Any step by step procedure, to create semi-sphere in Inventor or how to draw semi-sphere ?I am unable get this semi-sphere, using all the "extrude", split" options.
I'm trying to create a series of sphere images that are to be used as an animation, whereas in my case I have a transparent background layer and a layer containing a sphere. Then I want to add a 15 degree rotation for each new image. The problem is that every time I select the rotate tool and click on the image to enter the value, the sphere is moved slightly.
Here's the effect I'm going for, maybe a bit more glow and lines do not need to arc like that: [URL]
And like this: [URL]
I'm having a couple of problems: 1) if I put the network lines on the map it looks too flat so I think I need to apply them to a slightly larger invisible sphere; 2) when I add a blur/outer glow to the lines they do not wrap cleanly on the sphere, they kind of break up and distort. Plain lines do not seem to have this problem but objects with effects do.
after I combine a simple poly cube the smooth function does not work?I use merge edge and merge vertices but still cannot get a smooth object..I have tried saving and reopening but still cannot smooth.
What is the best way to color correct the very blue photos taken underwater scuba diving? Most pictures were take at about 50-70' depth with an Olympus point and shoot fe-360 with an underwater housing. The camera was set on the underwater scene 2 setting. I just want to get the vibrant colors back that were present in the great corals, sponges and fish in the BVI's.
Trying to create smooth edges. I have been working on my own logo. I have C4 Photoshop (Web Prem). I have been creating circles on a transparent background. When I applied logo on one of my images I notice little white doted edges. I see little white dots. What is the best way to create clean edge on transparency backgrounds?
I always face problem with using pen tool to create smooth curves... specially when I give grediant to the shape or the background colour is some dark colour the crude edges of the shape are clearly visible..
can anyone give me a tip how to create smooth curved shapes with photoshop?
I am trying to create shapes in photoshop but they all seem to have rough edges. Is there a way around this? 1. I have been using the "rectangular marquee tool" to draw a square. 2. Filling it in with a color 3. Then to Edit > Transform > Skew. Then I pull in show corners, push some out. Now the edges look horrible.
im currently doing the tutorial about the viking helmet.Im in this section "Working in symmetry mode to add detail to the helmet".Im at the point 7 of "select the seam and rim faces to extrude".I have changed the value of the slide control to -25 but when i turn on the show end result to see the left face of the helmet,it doesnt display nothing...,i did something wrong or is this a bug?
I am struggling to create a smooth transition between radii called out on a drawing. I am also unsure of how to create a flange on that edge of my part.
Here is the drawing and the model I have created so far.
how to accomplish creating a web optimized graphic with a smooth gradient using PS7.
it seems that you will not be able to generate such a graphic using the default settings in photoshop.
I am right now using the maximum number of colors allowable in the 'save for web' optimization tool (which is 256 for both jpg and gif apparently) I know JPGs are the file type for the job generally speaking, but without optimization the JPG is too large to use for a web page header.
