I'm using windows XP with Photoshop CS.
Whenever the network cable is connected to the computer, Photoshop start-up load time is significantly longer than when I pull the network cable out.
Photoshop Elements. Increasing brush-size crashes Windows 8 when HDMI cable connected to TV or data projector. I'm using Asus N56V notebook with Nvidia 635M dedicated graphics card with latest driver.

I have a standalone installation with a drawing on a local drive, also SP1 is installed.
We recently installed the CS3 suite onto our school workstations. The problem we are having is that students are getting slowdowns in Photoshop in terms of waiting for menu drop downs and general unresponsive behavior. The applications are installed locally on the computers but the application data folders for the students are redirected to the main file server. As more students use Photoshop (>16) the slowdowns become more noticeable. Sniffing the network packets we are seeing a large amount of small files being opened and closed back to the application data folder on the server. I guess my question is, is there any way to force photoshop to use a local application data folder for all users? The network & file server they are writing to is quick but I suspect not quick enough for all of these small files.

My render servers slow down after ca. 20min (I don't know the time range, yet.)
They render in mental ray a frame in ca. 2-3Min... after 20min it slows gradually down to a exorbitant render time... The scene complexity do not change very much!
Maybe it depend on the fact that i render on windows 8 "release preview". With the older "Consumer Preview" i have no trouble.
I am working on a assembly where a cable wrapped around a drum is animated to rotate with the drum, and there is a longer cable coming off of the rotating cable wrap, this longer piece goes down to another cable on a roller assembly. I have edited the assembly to work without the actual cable drum and without the roller assembly ( I wasnt allowed to share those models ) There are now two cylinders in place of the cable drum, a Grounded center to hold everything in place, a Rotating center which is animated so the wrap can rotate.
My problem is when the part named "Drum to Roller" is a lofted cable with angled ends to meet the "Drum wire wrap" at one end and it meets the "Radius cable ends" at the other end. I need the "Drum to roller" to stay constrained to the "radius cable ends" as well as the "drum wire wrap" ... and after being constrained still animate.
I have set up the animation and you will see that the "Drum wire wrap" is animated to keep the end vertical , the animation is set up to look like the "drum wire wrap' is un-raveling cable and the "drum to roller" is to be what un ravels.
I need to find a way so that the "drum to roller" translates down and over , staying constrained to the "drum wire wrap".. You will see that so far it does not.

I am run Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-bit (from design premium) on Windows 7, 64-bit with 8GB RAM.
When I first start PS, it looks like it freeze on the text "Measuring Memory". If I wait for about 30 seconds, it will eventually load and everything works fine. No issues with Save for Web or anything.
I have read the other threads on this and tried all of these solutions:
Checked my ram in memtest (15 passes, no error)Trash preferences and open again UN-install and re-install (tried twice)Updated PS to latest with Adobe Update Reboot machine .
This happen when I first run Windows, so lack of RAM is not the issue. I have no printers, other hard drive, or remote network drive attached to machine. Scratched disk is set to the boot disk (C:)
Illustrator CS6 and InDesign CS6 load normally.
I am using PS CS2 on my XP based PC and it has worked fine for a number of years. Recently whenever I start PS is loads fine but then the very first image takes ages to load (>1 minute). All subsequent images load quickly as you'd expect.
It doesn't matter where that first image is saved and the size of the image makes no difference.
I just installed photoshop cs3 on my laptop! I try to open a file i take approximately 2-3 min to load! Any idea's what could be the problem! Oh and they aren't big files! And in case anyone needs to know.....Its a brand new laptop just bought it last week! Its running on a dual core intel at 2.0GHz 4g of ram 512 graphics card!

Since we installed the new NAS and copied all the data from the old one, opening and saving files takes too long. Sometimes the files hang while regenerating. Saving can take up to more then 4 minutes.
Other applications, for example photoshop, work fine. Copying files from the local disk to the network drive, even moren than 100MB works fine.All computers have windows 7 and the NAS is from Synologie.We tried reinstalling AutoCad but that doesn't solve the problem.We tried setting the savefidelity to 0 but that doesn't solve the problem.
I'm working with a friend who's got perhaps unusual Photoshop needs. He's working on a 10000x20000 pixel 16 bit image with maybe 6 image layers and 12 total layers. Loading the file takes about 20 minutes.
The system is a 2.6 GHz quad-core i7 with 12 GB RAM and a 32GB SSD primary scratch, 200 GB of secondary scratch, with a 1 GB Radeon HD 4870, running CS4 64bit on Vista 64.
What seems odd to me is that memory usage climbs steeply for the first perhaps 4 GB, looking like the load might complete in a minute or two, then the CPU kicks in for the long, long remainder of the load. The file on disk is roughly 5 GB.
We've got issues aside from this, but I'll detail them in another thread.
I've been having a problem with Draw X5 freezing for a few seconds every minute or so. Quite often when I try to drag an object around the page everything stops (program freezes) and I have to wait a few seconds till it starts again. Also happens sometimes when I drag an object to a new layer. Actually it can happen on any action.
All the .cdr files are located on a network server, but today I've come to the conclusion that Draw is somehow referencing the file every few minutes (usually something like just one minute between pauses). And because it's a bit of a slow connection speed between the network and my pc, the program hangs (like its slower to save and load from the network, than my local drive). I've got the Save Backup set to 30 mins so would have thought I'd only get an odd pause every 30mins (and turning off auto backup).
I thought I'd see what a file was like which was located on a local drive and so far no pauses. While I can obviously save to my local drive to work on, then save back to the network, it's a hassle and not ideal as it's harder to track the up-to-date file versions. This doesn't happen with any other program I use, and they're all saved to a network server.
how I can stop Draw X5 looking at the file location until I save or auto save? My system is Win7 64bit 12GB i7 core, Nvidia GTX 460. The program has all the service packs etc. I've turned off the live text to no avail. There is no added junk (colour spaces etc) in the files. It happens no matter what the file size. And it's not my antivirus, as I turned it off and the odd pauses continue.
We have 13 machines that are identical hardware and software; Windows 7 and the Autodesk Product Design Suite 2012 as well as the Vault 2012 Client. Two of these machines are exhibiting the following behavior: Connected to our LAN with access to the internet not loading Vault on startup Inventor loads in 68 seconds.Disconnected from our LAN with no access to the internet not loading Vault on startup Inventor loads in <10 seconds. I have tested this with our AV turned on and off with no changes in the above noted behavior. These two machines loaded Inventor 2011 in repsectable times ~<30 seconds.
Now this tells me that when Inventor is loading it is trying to go somewhere when there is a network connection. But where and what can I do to make it stop?
I have recently installed Corel X6 and have found it to be painfully slow when opening files. At first I had thought it might be a network issue so I copied the file to a local drive and experienced the same problem.
The file is only 819Kb but it takes about 3 minutes to open the file. When I first select the file in the File Open dialogue window Corel just hangs for about 1 minute. It finally responds then takes a further 2 minutes to process and open the file.
I have turned off my antivirus software as I thought this might be a file scanning issue but still the same result.
I created a 30min video, with a lot of photos mixed with live video, transitions, music, etc. Now, when I try to reopen the file for futher editing, it appears the software needs to re-render all the thumbnails in my video track stream. As I mentioned, I have a lot of photos in there, so it's taking forever.
With the previous software I used (Pinnacle Studio), I could flush the cache and have the program rebuild (and store) all the thumbnail info for faster loads in subsequent sessions.
I've got a lot of scenes that have become exceedingly slow to save and load. Like often taking 10 to 20 minutes to save. With looming deadlines this is becoming really desperate! I've tried merging into a new scene, running scripts to clean out notetracks etc. Even after deleting every object and material, and resetting all render settings, the file is still inexplicably slow. Bridge handles the previews so fast and it is so much nicer going through with that program, but I'd like to move my workflow to LR4 solely. But hard to with the preview handling being so much slower.

View 1 Replies View Relateddoes smoke have a feature to do 'time offsetting' ? in connect fx (not in action), i have a clip and applied some fx node like blur , CC etc. Now i want to offset or slip the network (media and fx nodes), so not only the media but also all the keyframes from all the fx node. Can i do this ? i use foundry Nuke where this can be done easily. How about in smoke ? So maybe like attaching a 'timeoffset' node to the network.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have CS6 64bit on a reasonably up to date windows 7 system. Just checked for CS6 upgrades 7/14/13, and have the latest version (13.0.1.2).
Things have been working fine since I installed the product about a month ago.
At some point something went wrong and it now takes 30 seconds or more to load a file via "file>open..."
It also takes 30 or more second just for photomerge to display the file dialog from "file>automate>photomerge..."
All other photo s/w I have loads raw files, tifs, jpegs, etc... very quickly. This is CS6 specific.
I disabled loading of plugins, didn't work (CS6 starts quickly enough, just not so much file loading).
trying to load multiple actions. can only do one at a time. its going so slow.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEVERY time I try to load Photoshop Elements 10 Organiser it crashes "Elements 10 Organizer has stopped working". It is unusable. Is there a patch or something I can load? I will contact Adobe but I'm out of hours at the moment. In the meantime hunting on forums and internet has revealed to me others who have had this problem but no solution. I am using Windows 8 with 8GB RAM on an Intel i7 processor.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSaving InDesign files to a network location seems to take an extremely long time during which I am unable to do anything else inside InDesign.I know that this has been an issue for me for at least 2 weeks (since March 3, 2014, possibly earlier). I am not certain whether I have updated InDesign since then, but have consistently been experiencing this same problem.
Today I ran some tests (all using the same ~20MB file).
Save from InDesign to network location: 12 seconds
Save from InDesign to desktop: <2 seconds
Copy file (in Windows Explorer) from desktop to network: <2 seconds
Copy file from network to desktop: <2 seconds
I know I can work on the file locally and copy my saved versions out at the end of the day, but this was not necessary before, and I don't know what changed to make this take so much longer than it used to.
Current system configuration: InDesign 9.2 x64 running on a Win 7 Pro 64-bit with 16GB RAM and a Xeon 3.6GHz processor.
How much take cs6 and cs5 in cold load time under w7 32bit? i'm not talking about solid disk because they are amazing fast. i used process hacker ,portable version , and it's 9 seconds.
look more slow then cs5 or cs4.
Suddenly Maya's import/export/open file dialogue box has become extremely slow, taking forever to browse thru folders, freezing in the process.
This is independently of file/scene size. Specs are Ok. CPU i7-4930k, 16gb RAm, Geforce GTX 780, running windows 8.1 with a Kingston SSD and a second 3tb Caviar Green HD.

I use separate catalogs per job. Some as small as a few dozen images. (family stuff) Others, as large as 500-600. (engagement and wedding clients)
As I flip through pics in the Library Module, the previews often take a while to load. Any way of speeding this process up? I've already tried changing the Catalog Settings, ensured the pixels meet my screen resolution, and chose low quality preview.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI experimented with slow motion of a water fall video clip from Letchworth State Park of New York where we visited recently. The original clip is 1080p24fps. I used virtualdub, avisynth, mvtools method to change the video clip from 24fps to 96fps, and 144fps. This method smoothly builds additional frames between each of the 24fps appropriately and the method works great to create smooth slow motion that plays in VLC slowing the 96 and 144 clips fluidly slow. Inserting the three clips into VS works fine and play normally. Selecting the inserted 96fps clip, and slowing it by 25% plays jerky, and renders as 1080p24fps the same way. Same situation with the 144fps clip. I played with all the parameters: frame and % and I could not make VS X4 play the clips smoothly. I am hoping I don't understand how to use this new Time lapse/Speed feature. BTW, I also own Premiere Pro, and it does the slow down of these clips perfectly. EDIT: I just tried Microsoft Movie Maker that comes free from Microsoft, and it does the slow down correctly. I am thinking this is a problem with VS X4
I am working with something new in AE this week and I am curious if I am doing something wrong. I need to insert a 3D thumb tack PSD file I imported into AE with a film I am working on. As a test I just wanted to see what quailty the pin would render out for the final because the preview in AE looked horrible. So I have a static shot of the Thumb tack and it is going for 10 seconds. I started the Render and it has been going for 9 minutes so far and still shows 1hr 28 minutes left. I've rendered 8 minutes music videos in 45 minutes on this same PC.
I am using a PSD for 3D because I do not have 3D software.
