My work helpdesk has recently installed AutoCad 2012 and my co worker and I noticed that at the start up its loads very slowly and often when we double click on a DWG to open (without Autocad being already open) it crashes.
View 2 RepliesNormally LT runs fast enough that you can't see what it's doing, but occasionally it will bog down so that you can see the lines in the Properties manager fill in one by one as you select and deselect entities. A quick restart of the program used to be all it took to refresh it and get back to normal speed. But I still have this problem after multiple restarts and a machine reboot. It's slow enough to be almost unusable.
It's an old machine due to be replaced but is usually fast enough. I've got nothing else running, I even turned off the McAfee (usually the culprit on speed issues) and nothing is working. Is there anything else I can try before I have to kick a wall and reinstall LT?

When working on drawings, some small some large some with xrefs in but after continued use on the same drawing everything slows down even simple commands like highlighting an object
When I copy and paste on Autocad 2012, it goes very slow.
I installed the service pack, I tried removing the layer filters and a few other fixes that are out there. The machine is powerful enough to handle the application.
I tried reinstalling the application and that didn't do anything. The DWG file that's on the network share is being used by other people without any issue, I'm the only one having this problem.
I was trying to figure out the best way of loading an external WPF executable assembly into Autocad. The scenario is simple though to explain.
The user enters a command in Autocad. The command invokes a WPF application, which loads a particular WPF Window. The command also need to pass a parameter to the WPF application when it requests the WPF Window to load. When the user is done with the Window, he closes it like any modal window that appear in Autocad. What are the possible ways to have such an interaction in AutoCAD using .Net and C# and WPF
I can't get iLogic to load on my laptop. If I select Tools - Add ins then iLogic shows as load automatically but currently unloaded. If I check loaded, close the dialogue, open it again, then it has gone back to unloaded.
On my desktop, if I check unloaded then iLogic goes away, but if I select loaded it comes back. Similarly, I can turn on/off any of the add-ins such as the Design Accelerator, BIM Exchange, etc at will.
On my laptop, I can load/unload anything except iLogic, which won't load.
Both machines are Dells, running NVIDIA graphics under XP x64. Inventor Pro Product Design Suite was installed on both machines at about the same time from the same installation files. The only difference is that my laptop has Service Pack 1 installed, the desktop machine doesn't.
I had a problem where AutoCAD would not load a drawing - it kept crashing. However, after selecting "F2" and reviewing the display window - I received the following message:
Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

It was only after the "Continue" option was present that I could open the drawing.
I am run Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-bit (from design premium) on Windows 7, 64-bit with 8GB RAM.
When I first start PS, it looks like it freeze on the text "Measuring Memory". If I wait for about 30 seconds, it will eventually load and everything works fine. No issues with Save for Web or anything.
I have read the other threads on this and tried all of these solutions:
Checked my ram in memtest (15 passes, no error)Trash preferences and open again UN-install and re-install (tried twice)Updated PS to latest with Adobe Update Reboot machine .
This happen when I first run Windows, so lack of RAM is not the issue. I have no printers, other hard drive, or remote network drive attached to machine. Scratched disk is set to the boot disk (C:)
Illustrator CS6 and InDesign CS6 load normally.
I created a 30min video, with a lot of photos mixed with live video, transitions, music, etc. Now, when I try to reopen the file for futher editing, it appears the software needs to re-render all the thumbnails in my video track stream. As I mentioned, I have a lot of photos in there, so it's taking forever.
With the previous software I used (Pinnacle Studio), I could flush the cache and have the program rebuild (and store) all the thumbnail info for faster loads in subsequent sessions.
I am using PS CS2 on my XP based PC and it has worked fine for a number of years. Recently whenever I start PS is loads fine but then the very first image takes ages to load (>1 minute). All subsequent images load quickly as you'd expect.
It doesn't matter where that first image is saved and the size of the image makes no difference.
I just installed photoshop cs3 on my laptop! I try to open a file i take approximately 2-3 min to load! Any idea's what could be the problem! Oh and they aren't big files! And in case anyone needs to know.....Its a brand new laptop just bought it last week! Its running on a dual core intel at 2.0GHz 4g of ram 512 graphics card!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a lot of scenes that have become exceedingly slow to save and load. Like often taking 10 to 20 minutes to save. With looming deadlines this is becoming really desperate! I've tried merging into a new scene, running scripts to clean out notetracks etc. Even after deleting every object and material, and resetting all render settings, the file is still inexplicably slow. See attached example.

Bridge handles the previews so fast and it is so much nicer going through with that program, but I'd like to move my workflow to LR4 solely. But hard to with the preview handling being so much slower.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAutocad 2012 was working fine until a week ago when it started taking a long time to open drawings--even search for drawings on our network. It also takes at least 30 seconds to save files, where it used to take 5 seconds at most.
I found the AutoCad 2012 and AutoCad LT 2012 SP1 Ribbon Hotfix, which sounded like my problem, but it is for Product Version F.107.0.0 and I have Product Version F.51.0.0.
why is it that simple commands in paperspace like editing text/mtext, moving a single line or erasing objects so slow. it seems like it takes way to long to do simple editing. Makes me what to go back to model space sheet set up. I already did the changes to settings that someone posed "NEW Autocad Performance Tips". I notice a small performance enhancement but still very slow compared to paper space. this happened in files with one layout tab or 10.

Two of these machines are exhibiting the following behavior: Connected to our LAN with access to the internet not loading Vault on startup Inventor loads in 68 seconds.Disconnected from our LAN with no access to the internet not loading Vault on startup Inventor loads in <10 seconds. I have tested this with our AV turned on and off with no changes in the above noted behavior. These two machines loaded Inventor 2011 in repsectable times ~<30 seconds.
Now this tells me that when Inventor is loading it is trying to go somewhere when there is a network connection. But where and what can I do to make it stop?
I just started using Inventor and it is very slow, freezes for a few seconds, and is non responsive. My AutoCAD Architecture 2012 works just fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn starting autocad, before anything else appears an error box pops up saying "Unable to load Profile file, some profile information saved in the last session may not be restored". Click to accept the message and autocad starts normally with the exception that the ribbon doesn't show -at all. The user then switches to the classic workspace and back again and the ribbon will appear as expected.
The user, I believe, has local admin rights. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. My next step, is a last resort, which will involve uninstalling, then using some kinda registry cleaner to erase any trace of autocad on the laptop, then reinstalling - this is a bit severe, and will require the co-operation of my own IT dept, which can be like pulling teeth. I'm wondering if there's any other, less time consuming solution to this irritating problem?

I'm working with a friend who's got perhaps unusual Photoshop needs. He's working on a 10000x20000 pixel 16 bit image with maybe 6 image layers and 12 total layers. Loading the file takes about 20 minutes.
The system is a 2.6 GHz quad-core i7 with 12 GB RAM and a 32GB SSD primary scratch, 200 GB of secondary scratch, with a 1 GB Radeon HD 4870, running CS4 64bit on Vista 64.
What seems odd to me is that memory usage climbs steeply for the first perhaps 4 GB, looking like the load might complete in a minute or two, then the CPU kicks in for the long, long remainder of the load. The file on disk is roughly 5 GB.
We've got issues aside from this, but I'll detail them in another thread.
I'm a school teacher in the PLTW program that uses Inventor extensively in my classroom. Our district operates under a 125 seat license. The issue I've run into is on my personal computer (Windows Vista, x64) and is therefore outside the realm of the usual IT guy's duties. The Inventor software was installed on my laptop by the PLTW training staff during my summer session. I *think* it is a stand alone install of the program.
What happens is after I launch Autodesk Inventor, I can see the splash screen, and the inventor.exe task appears in the task manager, however after a few seconds, the splash screen disappears and the program does not launch. There is no error message.
This is confusing since until quite recently I am sure that Inventor was working hunky dory. Also, all the other Autodesk programs seems to function normally (Fusion, Design and Review)
I've tried a repair and reinstall, but the problem still persists. Also, I updated the install with SP 1, but this had no effect either.
I have recently updated my display drivers (ATI Radeon), however, I tried reverting back to the older drivers and still the problem persists, so I don't think it is graphics driver related

View 9 Replies View RelatedSuddenly Maya's import/export/open file dialogue box has become extremely slow, taking forever to browse thru folders, freezing in the process.
This is independently of file/scene size. Specs are Ok. CPU i7-4930k, 16gb RAm, Geforce GTX 780, running windows 8.1 with a Kingston SSD and a second 3tb Caviar Green HD.
I have a brand new HP Probook 4530s with the correct requirements to run LT 2012 as well as a certified and tested graphics card and latest drivers, but as soon as I try using offset or trim functions while drawing, my screen goes blank for about 4 seconds and an error message below tells me my Display Driver has stopped working and has recovered.
No matter the screen resolution settings, it still does the same, also the laptop is still cool, so can't be a heat issue.
I'm using windows XP with Photoshop CS.
Whenever the network cable is connected to the computer, Photoshop start-up load time is significantly longer than when I pull the network cable out.
