Ive recently been upgraded from a Laptop to a pc at work with windows 7
When working on drawings, some small some large some with xrefs in but after continued use on the same drawing everything slows down even simple commands like highlighting an object
Have the new 64 bit version of Civil 3D 2011 running on a desktop.

I have noticed while running both Civil 3D 2011, and AutoCAD 2011, that the software tends to "not respond" pretty frequently. It also seems to lag every once in a while when scrolling. Not sure if maybe there is something else I need to do to optimize my computer to be able to handle the civil 3D software better? I would think the triple core processor and 8 gigs of ram would be enough, but maybe not.
I have Mac Book Pro 2010 with 8 GB Ram and all CS6 programs runs smoothly but photoshop os slow and also all text i type have gaged hard edges how cna i fix those problems ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter installing an update to Illustrator 17.1 from the Cloud a few days ago I've noticed there is a significant hit in the performance. It runs really slow! Even with simple documents with just a few layers. I opened more complex ones and it's super painful to work. I have to wait a few seconds when selecting or moving a layer. I really want to go back to CC 17.0, As for the system I have the newest Mac Pro form the previous generation (before the trash can model) - Intel Xeon 6-core 2x2.4 with 28 gb of memory ram. Running Mac OS X 10.7.5. Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 5870.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn CS4, when I try to paint on an 8x10 300dpi portrait with a large, soft, low opacity brush...the appliction of the brush sometimes runs 2-5 seconds delayed behind where I am. I put down a few dabs and its OK... but then... when I put down 10 dabs in succession...then there is a few seconds delay. This same thing Does NOT happen in CS3. Im trying really hard to fix this by optimizing all I can. I have CS4 on Win XP SP3, and a 3 gig CPU, 4 Gigs of Ram, and an Adobe recommended Gforce 9600 512mb video Card set for open GL2. Ive set the preferences to 55% of memory for photoshop with 2 gigs of free memory, I set the history states to 20 and tried adjusting cache levels from 4 to 6, and I have a separate SATA scratch disk with 32 gigs free. AND, Ive upgraded to version 11.01 I dont get it. Why are my brushes taking so long in CS4 when they run perfectly in CS3?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my current system and on my previous system smart sharpen runs PAINFULLY slow. It happened in CS3, CS5, and now with CC it often causes the Photoshop to stop responding and I have to force quit.

The rest of Photoshop seems to run OK, it's just Smart Sharpen that bogs down I'm usually working on 16 bit files that have gotten to be around 800MB-1.2GB by the time I get to sharpening.
I just bought a new pc with windows 7 home premium 64-bit,but I run the program(3ds max design 2012 64-bit) and though it is installed correctly,it doesn't start, it freezes when its starting, any error messages appears.
Is it made to work only with windows 7 professional?(I mean the 7 editions? )can I upgrade and then the program will work fine?
Normally LT runs fast enough that you can't see what it's doing, but occasionally it will bog down so that you can see the lines in the Properties manager fill in one by one as you select and deselect entities. Â A quick restart of the program used to be all it took to refresh it and get back to normal speed. Â But I still have this problem after multiple restarts and a machine reboot. Â It's slow enough to be almost unusable.
It's an old machine due to be replaced but is usually fast enough. Â I've got nothing else running, I even turned off the McAfee (usually the culprit on speed issues) and nothing is working. Â Is there anything else I can try before I have to kick a wall and reinstall LT?

My work helpdesk has recently installed AutoCad 2012 and my co worker and I noticed that at the start up its loads very slowly and often when we double click on a DWG to open (without Autocad being already open) it crashes.

I installed the service pack, I tried removing the layer filters and a few other fixes that are out there. The machine is powerful enough to handle the application.
I tried reinstalling the application and that didn't do anything. The DWG file that's on the network share is being used by other people without any issue, I'm the only one having this problem.
Autocad 2012 was working fine until a week ago when it started taking a long time to open drawings--even search for drawings on our network. It also takes at least 30 seconds to save files, where it used to take 5 seconds at most.Â
I found the AutoCad 2012 and AutoCad LT 2012 SP1 Ribbon Hotfix, which sounded like my problem, but it is for Product Version F.107.0.0 and I have Product Version F.51.0.0.
why is it that simple commands in paperspace like editing text/mtext, moving a single line or erasing objects so slow. it seems like it takes way to long to do simple editing. Makes me what to go back to model space sheet set up. I already did the changes to settings that someone posed "NEW Autocad Performance Tips". I notice a small performance enhancement but still very slow compared to paper space. this happened in files with one layout tab or 10.

View 0 Replies View RelatedWe have 13 machines that are identical hardware and software; Windows 7 and the Autodesk Product Design Suite 2012 as well as the Vault 2012 Client. Two of these machines are exhibiting the following behavior: Connected to our LAN with access to the internet not loading Vault on startup Inventor loads in 68 seconds.Disconnected from our LAN with no access to the internet not loading Vault on startup Inventor loads in <10 seconds. I have tested this with our AV turned on and off with no changes in the above noted behavior. These two machines loaded Inventor 2011 in repsectable times ~<30 seconds.
Now this tells me that when Inventor is loading it is trying to go somewhere when there is a network connection. But where and what can I do to make it stop?
I just started using Inventor and it is very slow, freezes for a few seconds, and is non responsive. My AutoCAD Architecture 2012 works just fine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got Maya 2012 student edition. I created a quick rig with the default maya settings (Skeleton gen, Characterization tool, Character controls).
The position of the rig doesn't update until I let go of the controls. On other rigs the rig updates real time.
I have 2 piping runs, each one containing several routes. I need to merge them, to obtain a unique run containing all the routes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been working on putting all Pneumatic/Hydraulic/Electrical runs into our models lately, and while the modelling portion of it (actually making the runs) is fairly straight forward, it seems that documenting it in a way that the shop can easily work with it is another story.
Due to the large size of the assembly and amount of runs we have, it is difficult to capture in 2D printed drawings.
We do use Vault, so I think our solution is going to be to have our visualization files (dwf) automatically sent to a network location that can be accessed by the shop.
Now i am having issues with actually naming each run, so that instead of it saying Route 10/Flexible Hose 6 that it says something actually useful such as "Supply Gladhand to Filter". Â I am unable to rename any of the routes (I can rename the Runs though), so I figured I would put a description into the iProperties of the Flexible Hose portion of each route, and export the object properties when making the dwf.
Now, when I select a solid part that I made in Inventor, I can see its description in the Object Properties of design review no problem, but if I select a hose in design review, the only Object Properties i see are its Center of Gravity.
Is there any way to get a semi-useful description into a dwf for a tube/pipe run, or am I out of luck?
I noticed in the tree of my tube and pipe runs, two of the run names are red. All others are black. Is this indicating an error in these runs? I'm not getting any error messages and everything seems to run fine. I'm just curious I guess. I've attached a picture of the tree.

I have a bunch of pipes which are flagged with a warning called "Rule applies to pipe only runs". for these pipes, the pipe proterties window will not report the min and max cover. the pipe rule i have currently set is a "pipe to pipe match" with match location as invert and drop value as zero, and a cover only rule with min cover 2' and max cover 15'. the structure rule i have set has "sump depth" of zero, and a "pipe drop across structure" set as invert reference and a drop value of zero.

I have a very basic question about creating corridors. As you can see on the attachment, i created an assembly consisting of ditch and my own polyline subassembly and turned it into a corridor. The ditch part is drawn out correctly, but the other part (supposed to be a gravel road) has only sections in certain points.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to change the linetype from continuous to -none-? I created a layer for inserting georef images, and the images all come in with a border line that is related to the linetype and lineweight of which i want neither - i don't want a border.
I tried changing lineweight to 0.00mm but cant find any way to turn off lines?
We've been using Tube and pipe for a few months now, and still working through the quirks and tricks for producing a stable route. One problem however as more users are starting to use T&P is when in the top level T&P assembly they are dragging on a route and not always aware they have done so - this can result in the route being rotated fractions of a degree or moved fraction of mm and causing no end of confusion and frustration later on trying to diagnose and fix. Is there a way to 'lock' a route in place so it cannot be dragged in the top level?
Have tried switching off adaptivity in the i Properties of 'Tube & Pipe Runs' assembly, but this usually switches back on automatically. One user had a problem where the included geometry (taken from the x,y,z axes) had also moved and had to be deleted and redone - Wouldn't have thought anything based on the x,y,z axes should move?
I keep getting this minimum segment length message after running tubing routes. I've already configured the tube style and entered the minimum length I want. I place tube fittings before I run tubing, so I don't include fittings/couplings in my tube style. The lengths of the segments are equal to or longer than the segment rule I entered, so I'm not sure why I'm getting this error message. I also get a message saying that a segment will violate the rule once fittings are placed, even though I've opted out of using fittings in the style. To get around this error I've been having to go into each route and edit the sketch to make the problem segments longer.

The exterior glazing will be segmented and we are trying to make the building as dimensionally uniform as possible. IE 5'-0" Curtain Wall units. So each arc length needs to be perfectly divisible by 5'-0" and the transitions from one arc to the next must occur at a tangent point.
Eventually we will be developing the building in Revit 2013 but for now we are in ACAD 2013.
I have three contiguous splines. I'd like to make them one continuous entity, either spline or polyline. How do I do?
I've gone to Modify/Object/Spline and to Modify/Object/Polyline and neither seem to work.
