In CS4, when I try to paint on an 8x10 300dpi portrait with a large, soft, low opacity brush...the appliction of the brush sometimes runs 2-5 seconds delayed behind where I am. I put down a few dabs and its OK... but then... when I put down 10 dabs in succession...then there is a few seconds delay. This same thing Does NOT happen in CS3. Im trying really hard to fix this by optimizing all I can. I have CS4 on Win XP SP3, and a 3 gig CPU, 4 Gigs of Ram, and an Adobe recommended Gforce 9600 512mb video Card set for open GL2. Ive set the preferences to 55% of memory for photoshop with 2 gigs of free memory, I set the history states to 20 and tried adjusting cache levels from 4 to 6, and I have a separate SATA scratch disk with 32 gigs free. AND, Ive upgraded to version 11.01 I dont get it. Why are my brushes taking so long in CS4 when they run perfectly in CS3?
I have Mac Book Pro 2010 with 8 GB Ram and all CS6 programs runs smoothly but photoshop os slow and also all text i type have gaged hard edges how cna i fix those problems ?
I buy pse 11 from Apple appstore, this software runs very slow(Cpu very higher) and no retina supported , I want know is there a patch for these problem, orelse I'll ask for refund.
After installing an update to Illustrator 17.1 from the Cloud a few days ago I've noticed there is a significant hit in the performance. It runs really slow! Even with simple documents with just a few layers. I opened more complex ones and it's super painful to work. I have to wait a few seconds when selecting or moving a layer. I really want to go back to CC 17.0, As for the system I have the newest Mac Pro form the previous generation (before the trash can model) - Intel Xeon 6-core 2x2.4 with 28 gb of memory ram. Running Mac OS X 10.7.5. Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 5870.
On my current system and on my previous system smart sharpen runs PAINFULLY slow. It happened in CS3, CS5, and now with CC it often causes the Photoshop to stop responding and I have to force quit. Â I currently have: MacBook Pro Dual 2.5 GHz i7 8 GB 1333 DDR3 Ram dual SSDs running Raid 0 OS 10.8.4 Â The rest of Photoshop seems to run OK, it's just Smart Sharpen that bogs down I'm usually working on 16 bit files that have gotten to be around 800MB-1.2GB by the time I get to sharpening.

I have noticed while running both Civil 3D 2011, and AutoCAD 2011, that the software tends to "not respond" pretty frequently. It also seems to lag every once in a while when scrolling. Not sure if maybe there is something else I need to do to optimize my computer to be able to handle the civil 3D software better? I would think the triple core processor and 8 gigs of ram would be enough, but maybe not.
slow copy to clipboard? I have pinned it down to my virus protection. I use McAfee and I notice that my CPU goes up considerably when I do a copy to clipboard under mcshield.exe. When I turn off the McAfee, copy to clipboard in X6 works fast and perfectly.
Since running x6 my system takes an unrealistic time to refresh graphics. Â I am working with a simple file and it takes 3 to four seconds to refresh after zooming in. My processor on CPU and Video card barely take a 20% hit.Â
Is Corel not setup to use the resources available? Is there some sort of Mad Hatter trick to fix it?

I am trying to locate information on how to achieve a real time display of the Gaussian blur while painting with the brush. Â Google is not being useful, nor does Adobe's own forum searches yield anything useful. Â I have seen mention of Smart Filters and designating the layer as a Smart Object in order to enable a Smart Filter but I can't seem to get the real time display of the filter when painting so I'm not sure if that proccess is at all useful for me or not as I can't locate information specific to what I'm trying to do. Â I'm incidentally using CS5, so if this option doesn't exist, that would be useful to know so that I'm not spinning my wheels.
I work as a graphic designer and illustrator. As such, most of what I do with Photoshop is drawing, using my Wacom tablet and the brush. So I purchased the cloud services a few days ago to be up to speed and have the newest updates and everything.But when I started working with CS6 64bit I noticed how after some minutes working on a file there's just an INCREDIBLE lag on the brush. (usually if I beforehand do several zooms in and out and skip through the history) But I don't mean a little lag, like if I use a special brush with special attributes and it's really huge. I use the standart round brush, not even that big in diameter, (5px) draw, and have to wait several seconds for a simple line to materialize.It's like working in slow motion. Â I tried drawing without the tablet to make sure it's got nothing to do with the Wacom Plugin, but no. Even if I use the mouse, it's like this. Â It doesn't matter if I restart the system and photoshop just before. Some files I open, and it's lagtime.So now I have to use PS CS6 32bit, because there it's possible to work without the lag. But for some reason the programm crashes from time to time. Â These are my systems specifics:

thought CS5 was bad, but brushing with CS6 all brush strokes are very, very slow. If I make a brush stoke I have literally have to put my hand on my chin and wait for the brush to catch up. I cannot work like this. what to do to speed up the brushes? my brush drawing slowly. I am retouching an 8x10" 300dpi 8 bit image and using a soft brush at 15% opacity. It could take 5 or 10 seconds for the brush to finish drawing a 6 inch long soft line. There is a delay and I cant do anything else till it finishes. I Have Photoshop CS4 running on Windows XP on a 3 gig machine... with 4 gigs of RAM. I am using 55% memory for the allocation with 20 histroy states and 4 for the cache. I have 1.6 Gigs of available memory and 37 gigs free in a separate scratch disk. I have a Radeon 9800 dual card with 125 megs onboard memory. Do I need to reset preferences because of something funny? My system seerms to be fast enough...but I may need a new video card possibly...I dont have GL2 enabled because its grayed out. My version of CS3 works fine.
The psd processor spins not stop until I pick up the wacom mouse and click on an adjacent layer then back to the layer I was working on. Then the wacom pen work with the brush tool. This seems to happen when every time I pick up the pen and go back to the brush tool.
I own a copy of Photoshop CS6.Switching from Photoshop CS to CS6, I have found this version to be extremely slow and I can not find a reason why it is like this. It is impossible for me to work on it. Â Problem: Slow performance, when using the brush tool there is a long delay - lag. The brush takes more than 8 seconds to catch up with my strokes.
Tried: - Memory usage allowed upgraded to 6GB, nothing changed. - Default selected "Scratch Disk" is the main SSD which has over 58GB of free space, I've tried selecting the secondary HDD as well but nothing changes. - Disabled the "Use Graphic Processor" square. nothing changed. - Disabled the "Use open CL" square in advanced Graphic Processor Settings. Nothing changed. - Changed power management settings in windows to "High Performance". nothing changed. - Disabling tablet pc service doesn't work.  Notes: - Graphic drivers are the latest release on AMD website - Windows is completely updated - SSD Firmware is the latest available. - The issue happens both with mouse and tablet. - 1px brush and 5000px brush lag just alike in zoomed and not zoomed canvas. - This happens on both x64 and x86 versions of the software.
I started to edit a picture with the brush. I refined the selection of my area. More I refined, more Lightroom was slow. I have only this brush modifier on this picture. I created dynamic snapshot & 1:1 snapshot during the import of this picture. My RAW is located on a network NAS et my catalog is on my SSD.
My PC config : SSD, Intel i7 Quad core, 8Gb RAM, Nvidia GTX 560 Ti.
My config is good for me to edit only one picture.
I've encountered a problem which is a first for me with Ai CS4, and that is I'm working on a cat illustration but I'm drawing hairs using a brush I've made that have anywhere from 4-5 strokes with multiple colors to mimic the look of hair. Everything was working fine until I used the hand tool to move the artboard around and the image pixelated a bit. Zooming in/out takes a bit of time as well, and then drawing any further strokes from a fresh boot now that I've saved my progress seem to be cached, then appear slowly one at a time afterwards.  I've got a Macbook Pro with 2.4ghz i5 cpu, 4gb ram, running osx 10.7.5. I'm wondering if I'm pushing the limits of the intel integrated graphics card. I have a Mac Pro at home with 8gb of ram although I learned recently that Ai CS4 only utilises 2gb of ram max. Regardless, my tower at home has a dedicated graphics card, ATI I believe.  System monitor reads 346mb free, 920mb wired, 2.03 active, 750mb inactive, used 3.66gb.  Trying to narrow it down to being operator error IE: too complex for Illustrator, or possibly the laptop hardware. I'd love to get back to work on this project of mine  Consequently the artboard size is 11.49in x 14.92in
been working with this CS2 on my PC here at work for sometime but as time goes on it seems to working less and less like it use too..
Take for instance I use the color picker tool and the whole program freaks out as if its trying to allocate ram up. It flickers.. then I wait.. it flickers some more.. and still I wait.. it looks as if its done freaking out, but then flickers somemore and I wait.. total I spend up to 5 mins waiting for CS2 to stop freaking out sometimes, then out of the blue it will begin to work again, but only for a short period of time. Now here is the kicker I am running PS alone.. no other programs, I even end un-needed tasks from taskmanager.
So far I found out the fallow actions makes this occure.

I have need having trouble with cs6 running slowly on my iMac. The computer runs fine with all other applications but will quickly run up several gigs of page outs when handling camera raw and photoshop files, it starts to creep along after a short while. Apple ran "stress tests" on the computer and everything is perfectly functional. I used to have no issues with cs5 and the computer should be able to handle the task easily. I have tried to reinstall photoshop.
I'm running Photoshop CS4 on Vista with 4G RAM. Even when working on a relatively small picture (34M/69M), I get an error when trying to use Quick Select. The message says "could not complete your request because there is not enough memory". I am not running any other applications and I am allowing Photoshop to use 80% of my RAM. I have a 700G scratch disk. What gives?
I'm using Photoshop CS2 and recently installed it on my new Vista system. During normal use, I log in to Windows as a non-administrator, as recommended for security purposes.
Each time I launch Photoshop, it wants to check for updates, and asks for administrator privileges to do so. This is very annoying, first because I then have to enter my password for the admin account each time, and second because I don't need to check for updates every single time I run the program.
I can instruct Windows to run photoshop.exe as an administrator each time it runs, which fixes the annoying problem of it checking for updates, but it still means I have to enter my administrator password each time I want to run Photoshop. Surely there is a good solution to this problem? I'd be happy if I could just instruct Photoshop once and for all to "do not check for updates". I have this option set and it seems to work when I run it as an administrator but when I run it as a non-privileged user, it still insists on checking for updates.
On my old computer, which was a 2.8Gzh Pentium, older model toshiba, photoshop ran really slow, there wwere "lags" when i would click around in a big image. Not bad, but there.
My new computer screams when editing photos... it's a 3.4ghz with a gig of ram, 7200rpm drive etc.
Yet for some reason, batching files runs MUCh slower on the new machine. I've tried to figure out why but can't see anything. Same batch from the same action too. All I'm doing is this:
"Generate proofs" action"
open raw file
fit image to 450
create text later
write "proof"
change opacity to 45%
flatten
save
That's it. But ANY batch I do will run slow like this, not just this one. It's driving me crazy cuz just to batch proofs of about 40 images (about what I shoot for a given photo session) takes like 45min!
how to make my photshop application fast few days ago it was working good but now its performance is slow and my computers speed is also slow. How to fix it?
I just bought a new pc with windows 7 home premium 64-bit,but I run the program(3ds max design 2012 64-bit) and though it is installed correctly,it doesn't start, it freezes when its starting, any error messages appears.
Is it made to work only with windows 7 professional?(I mean the 7 editions? )can I upgrade and then the program will work fine?
Lightroom 5 on Windows 7 32 Bit and 8 Gigabytes of memory (more than the 32 Bit system can use) permanently runs out of memory when doing some more complex edits on a RAW file, especially when exporting to 16 Bit TIFF. The RAW files were created by cameras with 10 up to 16 megapixel sensors with bit depths between 12 and 14. Â After exporting one or two images to 16 Bit uncompressed TIFF an error message "Not enough memory" will be displayed and only a Lightroom restart solves that - for the next one to two exports. If an image has much brush stroke edits, every additional stroke takes more and more time to see the result until the image disappears followed by the same "Not enough memory" error message. Â A tab character in the XMP sidecar file is *not* the reason (ensured that), as mentioned in a post. It seems that Lightroom in general does not allocate enough memory and frees too less/late allocated. Â fix that bug, it's not productive permanently quit and restart Lightroom when editing/exporting a few RAW files. Versions prior to Lightroom 4 did not have that bug.
