Oct 10, 2013I am importing solidworks assembly files into AutoCAD 2014. They show up fine after importing them. It says the assembly is in inches but when i go into the individual parts blocks they are all 25.4 scale. Is there a way to not have all the parts scaled up when it is imported?

Oct 21, 2013I have recently installed Autocad 2014 and am experiencing very slow and jumpy files when using x-refs. The other machines in the office where I work are not experiencing the same problem and apparently my machine is more powerful.
Originally we thought this might be a network issue (as x-refs are being referenced through the network) but when I put the actual reference files on my computer, I experienced the same issue.

Aug 10, 2012Since this week we have autocad 2013 installed. Everything works correct except for the saving part , 90 % of the time if we save an drawing it crashes .

- Search on google
- clean install only windows & autocad 2013 installed.
Specs :
- Intel Xeon CPU 5160 @ 3,00 Ghz ( 2 processors )
- 8 GB of memory
- SSD ( Vertex 3 )
- Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit
- Autocad 2013
We did alot of research on google but can't really find an solutions , autocad 2012 had no problems with saving files.
Also tried different drawing but even if i start an new drawing and will save it , mostly autocad crashing.

Apr 12, 2013We sold a customer a new Dell Precision Laptop - i7 16GB Memory, 512GB Solid State hard drive, Windows 7 64bit. He had upgraded to AutoCad 2013 from 2006. Since installing the laptop when he closes out of a drawing Autocad crashes, windows reports that the program had unexpectedly quit. It doesn't do it all of the time, but it could have something to do with multiple drawings, plotting etc, but it's not an easy one to generate. He does have an older plotter - DesignJet 500 that's installed through a network share off of another computer however I did completely remove the printer / driver and the issue was still occuring.

Jan 18, 2013We are currently using autocad 2013 LT on windows 7 64bit. The program runs a bit slower than 2012 but the main issue is as follows.
when closing a drawing or multiple drawings (wether they have been recently saved or not) autocad will go into a "not responding" mode and then crash out. This happens at about 70% of the time and is completely random. It may crash a drawing one time but not the next time you are in the same drawing, or when closing multiple drawings may allow you to save some of them when cad closes but then crashes before all of them are saved. We have all of the current updates and fixes. We had the same issue with 2012 but not nearly as often.

Aug 19, 2013I have a drawing with 72 layouts in it. I also have two drawings with one layout each, that I want to appear in the first drawing. How do I import the layouts from one drawing to the next? I found, "to import layouts as sheets", but it does not seem to be what I need.

Dec 20, 2013We currently utilize AutoCAD for our mine mapping purposes. I recently had a seismic study performed to determine the top of salt. I asked for a .dwg file of the contours that were developed. The .dwg file they provided does not have our autoCAD map on it. They are simply contour lines. These contour lines, however, have the same coordinate system as our mine map. The surveyor and I provided coordinate data to the company to develop the contour lines. I would like to lay these contours into our mine map. How do I import the contour .dwg file into our mine map file so that they lay exactly where they should?

Jan 13, 2014I installed AutoCAD on a brand new Lenovo W530 with 2 graphic cards: Integrated Intel and Nvida K2000M. When I just work on the built in screen AutoCAD does not seem to work well, the mouse movement lags. The problem is gone immediately when I simply extend my desktop onto an external screen.. That is all I do : FN key + projector icon, choose extend desktop and enter -> AutoCAD works great.
Here is some background info / things I have tried:
1) I disabled Nvidia Optimus in BIOS to makre sure all graphics is on the Nvidia (i.e. disable integrated graphics) -> this did not solve the problem, also after applying the extend desktop trick
2) In the Nvidia 3d settings I made sure that AutoCAD works with the Nvidia card.
3) Nvidia drivers are upto date
4) When I open AutoCAD it appears in the nvida window (in the taskbar) that shows which programs are used by nvidia
5) After extending the desktop I stay with AutoCAD on the builtin screen

I netload an assy into drawing2, and can run a lispfunction from it.
I netload the the assy into drawing 1, and cannot run the lispfunction.
it says "error: no function definition:..."How should the checking process normally be done, to see if a .net dll is loaded?I normally do this with lisp:

The separate namespace thing is secondary, and I am just talking about loading dll's by hand, and running functions from them on command line. Once I get that ironed out, I can tackle how to detect from inside a vlx.I saw Kean's post on making a dll to detect what dll's are loaded, but its not even working for me once I have that info. Revit :: LT 2013 Randomly Crashes On Close
Jan 12, 2013I have run Revit 2012 on this computer without any issues, but recently switched to Revit LT 2013 and have been having a tremendous amount of problems with it crashing. I am working on a quad core i7 laptop with 32 gb of ram and a Nvidia GeForce video card with 4gb of ram. The operating system is Window & 64 bit.
When I initially installed 2013 it would randomly crash on close. The file was always saved even if I didn't save before close and let it save through the closing process. It would send a report to Autodesk, but this was an error that I could honestly live with since it didn't cause problems while I was working.
On rare occasions it would crash while I was working in the program. No warnings, and no report to Autodesk, it would just close and not save what I had been working on. Becoming a bigger fan of constantly saving.
It also crashed when I was working in the file manager either opening, doing a save as, etc. I narrowed this arrow down to clicking on a folder with the right mouse button (hoping to rename the folder). The easy fix was to stop doing that.However, recently it seems to have begun to crash far more often, many times at ten to fifteen minute intervals. Some of the occasions it occurs at are:
-trying to change the end location or arc of a leader
-editing the boundary of a fill region (when launching the trim command)
-using the paste command to copy line work from one detail to another.
Each time it will crash it will come up with the window that the program has stopped working and windows is looking for a solution. Eventually windows closes the program.
I have tried turning off the 3d acceleration in Revit and that had disasterous results. Revit would load but immediately when loading a file and trying to display the image/drawing.

May 9, 2012Autocad 2012 was working fine until a week ago when it started taking a long time to open drawings--even search for drawings on our network. It also takes at least 30 seconds to save files, where it used to take 5 seconds at most.
I found the AutoCad 2012 and AutoCad LT 2012 SP1 Ribbon Hotfix, which sounded like my problem, but it is for Product Version F.107.0.0 and I have Product Version F.51.0.0.

Aug 13, 2013Is there a way to increase the access time so printing is faster?
I have AutoCAD 2013 and access drawings over VPN (6 meg pipe).
Both opening the drawings and especially printing them take a very long time.
It takes about 8 seconds to open drawings, due to all the modules loading on the bottom-left of AutoCAD. Printing takes even longer than opening the drawings.
Is there a setting I can change to speed-up access time?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Very Slow When Undoing / Plotting Or Switching Drawings
May 13, 2010When using the undo command, plotting or switching between drawings in Autocad 2010 and now also 2011 I am experiencing long delays of up to 15-20 seconds at a time which is rather frustrating. I am running a fast spec computer and can't seem to overcome it, I haven't had the problem with 2009 and when need to do something quickly have found myself using the outdated software. Other users in the same office have equal or lesser spec computers and are not having the same issues, I have tried a re-install and this hasn't worked either. I was hoping the new 2011 version would solve this issue but no luck.

There is a wipeout on top of 2 blocks.
DRAWORDERCTL is set to 3.
But when I explode these 2 blocks, one block inherits the parent block draworder and stays below the wipeout while the other doesn't.

Sep 9, 2010I am wanting to import pdf's of drawings into my AC08. I just want them in there for reference purposes, i draw submittals and have them in pdf format and on paper, just on big jobs nice to be able to just scroll over and reference rooms and such. I dont need them to be to scale or scalable. I copied and pasted some in but they were so small, by the time i zoomed in on them they just look like a bunch of vectors and not very legible.

Jun 28, 2013Rscently upgraded from xp to win 8, re installed autocad 2011.
Now when I try to open a drawing from within autocad my system crashes, I get a flash of horizontal lines then two blank screens.
Tried running narrator but just get static through the speakers, I have to hit the re start button to get back in.
I can open a drawing from explorer if autocad is not allready running, autocad starts and the drawing opens with no problems. but if I try to open another drawing we crash.

after using this with only minor crashes for the last year I have now got problems with closing drawings which then locks autocad up and if someone else opens the file in the same program on windows xp then it crashes there program too while closing. I have tried redraw the drawing model file and produce a new drawing sheet exactly the same but it still crashes on saving of the file and have now noticed that any drawing i'm creating now does exactly the same. I have also completely reinstalled autocad LT 2008 to try to fix this problem but with no success. Has there been an update either with windows 7 or autocad that might have caused this problem and how to resolve this problem as I am now left with a computer thats useless to draw upon and rather not install an older version of windows just to resolve this problem after it running fine for over a year now.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Crashes When Closing Multiple Drawings?
Aug 31, 2010If I have several drawings open at the same time and have done work to some of them, at the end of the day I just pick the AutoCAD application "close" button (the "X" in the top-right corner of the window) and I'm prompted "Save changes to <drawing>?" for each of the drawings.
Unfortunately, most of the times I do this in AC2011, AutoCAD crashes. The next time I open AutoCAD, it initiates the recover but all the changes have been saved in the *.dwg file.
I know this is not the best way to save and close drawings but it has never been a problem.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Importing Settings From Drawings With That Display
Apr 2, 2012I have created a profile showing existing and finish grade. I can't seem to control the appearance of the existing grade line and the finish grade line individually. I need finish grade to be color 161 and existing grade to be color 252, but whatever I set as a color applies to both.
I have done this in the past with no trouble at all, but can't seem to get it to work now. I even tried importing settings from drawings with that display, but nothing has worked yet.
