i am having a BOM template for the parametric modelling i have created using the excel sheet input link.
when i create the drawing from the model the default Bom part list is coming, instead of that i need to get the Excel Bom Template i have created based on the input excel link.
How to get the Excel Bom Template in the drawing.
I created my standard drawing template which I used on prints and I have now updated my template. Is there an easy way to get my previously created drawings updated to the new template?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am importing drawings from autocad which are known to bend correctly in real life. However, when I bend the parts on inventor, there is interferance with the corners. Material is 18 GA. HRPO, bend radius and k-factor are updated correctly (to my knowledge). In my "folded" image, is there a way to prevent the part from bending past the bend line?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the school edition of ACAD 11, and we made a template in class, and now whenever I open it from windows, it opens 2 drawings. It did this with my personal computer as well as the school computer I was on at the time. I'm guessing I changed a setting within the template? It isn't 1 drawing of the template and one fresh one like I read alot here, both seem to be my template file in dwg.

I spend a bit of time yesterday changing door styles and want them available to all drawings not just the one they were created in. How do i migrate my style to the template and other drawings?
I'm having difficulties every now and then importing a template 'Layout' 'first image'..Most of the time it's fine, and imports no worries as in the 'second image'
Why they are different, I have check Page Setup Manager, and I can't identify any differences.I'm using the Design Manager to Import the Layout (in both instances).

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo everytime I import a layout from my template, the scale comes out wrong. The border is way too big, viewport, and the stamp is also way to big. It's being scaled by approximately by 12.28 times.
Here's what I can share:
- both drawings are in inches in both files
- all that 'insunits' stuff is set to zero in both files
- 'measurement' and 'measureinit' is set to zero in both files
- using AutoCAD 2012
- xyz scale is all at 1.00
- the titleblock itself almost imports correctly, only some of my att text doesn't come out properly as well.
As far as i can tell it's the command 'from template' issue. Because when i cut and paste the templates layout contents, it comes out fine.
I am wanting to import pdf's of drawings into my AC08. I just want them in there for reference purposes, i draw submittals and have them in pdf format and on paper, just on big jobs nice to be able to just scroll over and reference rooms and such. I dont need them to be to scale or scalable. I copied and pasted some in but they were so small, by the time i zoomed in on them they just look like a bunch of vectors and not very legible.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I manually add a new layout from a template, I do NOT get any extra layers, but when I use VB to do the same thing, I get extra layers.
In the original drawing, I have layers called "SHEET", "TEXT", and "VIEWPORT" (among other layers).
In the template where I get my new layout, I also have the same layer names ("SHEET", "TEXT", and "VIEWPORT").
After the new layout gets read in, I now have extra layers called "$0$SHEET", "$0$TEXT", and "$0$VIEWPORT". Why does this happen using VB, but not when I do it manually? Is there anything I can do to the code to change this? I understand the layer names are the same, but they're the same whether I do it manually or by code.

I have a drawing with 72 layouts in it. I also have two drawings with one layout each, that I want to appear in the first drawing. How do I import the layouts from one drawing to the next? I found, "to import layouts as sheets", but it does not seem to be what I need.
View 6 Replies View RelatedNeeded to purge items in a drawing to recover a drawing in order to repair corruption within it it. I purged and audited the drawing in question and then created a block or the drawing elements which I imported to a new drawing sheet. That's great, all is well but.....obviously (now) the only layers, dimscale,etc. items I normally use in my template sheet are gone and only the items remaining after the purge are the ones that were in my original drawing.
How can I, or can I replace my normal full layer list, dim settings, blocks, etc?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have created a profile showing existing and finish grade. I can't seem to control the appearance of the existing grade line and the finish grade line individually. I need finish grade to be color 161 and existing grade to be color 252, but whatever I set as a color applies to both.
I have done this in the past with no trouble at all, but can't seem to get it to work now. I even tried importing settings from drawings with that display, but nothing has worked yet.
We currently utilize AutoCAD for our mine mapping purposes. I recently had a seismic study performed to determine the top of salt. I asked for a .dwg file of the contours that were developed. The .dwg file they provided does not have our autoCAD map on it. They are simply contour lines. These contour lines, however, have the same coordinate system as our mine map. The surveyor and I provided coordinate data to the company to develop the contour lines. I would like to lay these contours into our mine map. How do I import the contour .dwg file into our mine map file so that they lay exactly where they should?

The Sheet Set Manager (SSM) seems to import the layout tabs in random order, not in the order they appear on the drawing, nor in alphabetical or numerical order. In addition, the SSM imports and numbers all of my drawings in reverse order. Any system variable setting, or some other property setting somewhere that will change this back to ascending order?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm recently using inventor a lot. But now IM try to make a .IDW template with my own line styles and thickness and stuff. This is what I do:
I open an exciting IDW file. I go to manage and click style editor. Then I create a new style. Called test style. I make sure I activate my new style and I go to layers, where I change the line weight from 0.51mm to 0.25 mm (example)
I save my change and close style editor... After that I save my copy as template (called test 6-1) and close the drawing. I open inventor and create a new file. Select the template I created. I get this style conflict.... I don't fully understand this error... How can I fix this problem?
When my new template opens, I check the line weight by the style editor but the weight detente change... Its still 0.51 mm.
Made some minor changes / updates to our .idw template and would like to update previous .idw's to the new template. Can this be done automatically? Is this done in styles?
I have opened previous .idw's and checked for updates in styles and none are shown. The changes/updates are to the title block and revision table. New drawings open with the new template changes, but we would like those changes to any previous drawings as well.
I'm having a problem migrating a custom idw 2011 template to 2012. When I try to open the template I get the message that I need to open and then explicitly save, but I cannot open the file. I've checked the file locations in options and in the projects, and all is correct.

1. Create a new model for a new client.
2. Create new drawing based on the standard template.
3. Bring in model views and create new title block, notes, symbols, etc. specific to new client.
4. Save drawing as a client specific template in my template directory.
5. Open new client template and erase all drawing views but leave notes, symbols, title block, etc.
6. Save.
The question is, doing it this way, will it cause problems? Will the drawing views somehow still be linked to the template? Should I erase the drawing views BEFORE saving as a template? Is there a better way ti create a template?
I have had a dwg. template that I have used for quite some time. I recently decided I needed to update it. In doing do I added a new sheet and modified an existing title block to use on the new sheet. Now the new sheet is there when I start a new dwg. but the names are still there from the modified title block. If I open the template directly its all correct, if i start a create a new dwg only parts of it are correct. I've tried changing my styles to read/write and tried to save it as many different ways I can think of but it just won't cooperate.

I created a template file for the sheet material with the specified type of material, sheet thickness and the radius of bending. Placed in the Templates folder. Call the template from the menu, HED, and all settings are reset to Default? How to make a new file so that all settings are saved?
