Illustrator :: Why Does Paintbrush Tool Refuse To Apply Strokes

Aug 26, 2013

My paintbrush tool does nothing more than place a hairline path along where I've drawn. I've tried editing the stroke settings, changing brushes, ect, nothing is working. This isn't actually limited to just the paintbrush tool, but all of my drawing tools. I'm just baffled about why Illustrator is absolutely the most user-unfriendly piece of software I've ever drawn in.

Photoshop :: Resize Document Number One Before / After The Selection

Jun 21, 2012

I'm just learning some of the basics of Photoshop & trying to practice what I'm learning at the same time…

I have 2 open documents,  I made a rough selection in document number one & was able to successfully create a layer out of that selection.

From the layers palette, I drag that selection layer roughly where I would like it to be on top of document number two…

the selection layer from document number one is a little too big… How do I resize the selection I made in document number one?

Do I need to resize document number one before I make the selection?

Or…

Can I resize the selection after putting it on top of document number two?

Photoshop :: Resize All Layers In Document To Specific Size?

Mar 22, 2012

I'm looking for a way to resize all the layers in my document to a specific size.  I'd like to resize every layer to be exactly 6 inches in height (while keeping proportions constrained).  I can manually transform every layer to do this but I haven't found a way to do this automatically to all layers,  I've tried to do it as an action but it's recording it as a percentage and not a fixed height,  so it doesn't work on the other layers that aren't the exact same size.

Photoshop :: CS4 Resize Windows To Fit Irritation

Jul 5, 2009

To start with, I've never even seen this option before, but I've come to understand in looking for a way to fix my irritation, that it's been around in every version of Photoshop. My understanding of the keyboard shortcuts for Zoom has always been this. Ctrl + : Zoom in without resizing the window.Ctrl - :

Zoom out without resizing the window.Ctrl Alt + : Zoom in AND resize the window to fit.Ctrl Alt - : Zoom out AND resize the window to fit.Ctrl Alt 0 : Go to 100% and resize the window to fit. One way or another, I believe in my initial setup of Photoshop CS4, I toggled the Resize Windows to Fit option off. So using any of my keyboard shortcuts, wasn't working. The exception being if I manually resized the window first (ie: drag it out so window is larger than the image, then zoom). Doing that makes it all work properly. Tonight I go looking for why, and I find that option. I turn it back on, try my shortcuts again....

and it still fails completely unless I use my exception. The Zoom Tool, on the other hand, works like a champ. At this point I've tried restarting the program multiple times, but haven't attempted to reboot yet. I doubt rebooting will accomplish anything restarting the program hasn't. What's going on here? Is this a bug? A feature? Does "Ctrl Alt whatever" not work anymore in regards to resizing windows?

I found a PDF of CS4 shortcuts that indicates otherwise. I've found plenty of articles about turning this option off, but only two or three about turning it back on, and absolutely nothing about my problem. As an aside, I'd like to know why everytime I minimize Photoshop it feels the need to collapse all my pallets. This is irritating. In fact, it's starting to feel like every new revision is plagued with more irritations for me than added benefits. Anyone able to tell me what's going on here? If it makes a difference, I'm working with the X64 version.

Photoshop :: 2 Open Windows Of Same Document

Mar 18, 2008

I remember reading somewhere that two windows could be opened for the same document allowing one to be worked on while zoomed in and the 2nd would update to show the changes.

How do I open two windows of the same document?

This is a neat trick as it allows document to be worked on without continually zooming in and zooming out to see how it all looks.

Photoshop :: CS2 Menu Bar And Document Windows...

May 26, 2009

I am currently using dual monitors and whenever I open or create a new document in CS2 it wants to go on top of the menu bar till I move it. This gets annoying after a while when trying to edit multiple documents. Is there a way to make the Menu bar always on top and the documents to just live in the work space below it and never go ontop of the others? I know this was possible in earlier versions of photoshop.

AutoCad 2D :: Xref Layer Colours Refuse To Change

Aug 16, 2011

For the whole project we’ve had this issue, however it’s never effected our drawing until now.

When we receive an background, we use setbylayer to change everything to by layer, then in the layer manager, set the layer colour to 8, so all is grey.

Then we xref that background dwg into our model drawings and doodle all over the thing, pretty standard stuff.

But today, in our model drawing, I’d like to change, well, any of the xref’s layer colours, but I cannot! As soon as I make a change, it reverts back to the original ‘8’ colour. It refuses to change colour.

I’ve changed visretian from 0 to 1, open, closed, changed it again, all combinations but to no avail.

I can freeze, turn off & on layers, just not change the colour (or lineweight).

AutoCAD 2010 :: Stubborn Blocks Refuse To Be Purged?

Mar 28, 2012

I want to attach an xref of "12015.01 - 69 East Ave   BB02", but AutoCAD gives me the following error:

Error: "12015.01 - 69 East Ave BB02" is already a standard block in the current drawing. *Invalid*

First I checked to make sure there were no referenced blocks or xrefs in the drawing. I then attempted to purge the following blocks:

"12015.01 - 69 East Ave   BB00"

"12015.01 - 69 East Ave   BB01"

"12015.01 - 69 East Ave   BB02"

Nothing happens. I click on "View items you cannot purge" and highlight any of those blocks and this is what I get:

This block definition cannot be purged if:

-- It is nested inside another block.
-- It is inserted in the drawing.
-- It is an attached xref drawing.

If I copy and paste the drawing into a new file, the blocks does not copy over, so it is obviously a problem with the file and not the drawing (if that makes any sense). I would simply replace the file, but all of my CD's Xref those three files and I don't have the time to go through and re-insert all of them.

Said another way, I'd like to resize a group of identical objects but instead of there being a single center/anchor point in the middle of the bounding box, I'd like each object within the group to retain it's center/anchor point (so multiple anchor points) and resize based on those positions.
