My quest: if your in a different layer working on adding walls for eg. You want add a dimension to that wall. When I hit DLI, How do I make sure that the dim i just entered goes directly to the DIM layer instead of the wall layer.

I'm trying to gauge interest / opinions in this AutoCAD add on for automatically binding and PDFing drawings ready for issuing - it also adds the revision to the file name.

Years ago someone at our firm created his own dimension tick block because he didn't like how thin AutoCAD's built-in tick was. I would agree with him, but I've found using our own tick block creates these really odd additional lines along the dimension line when at smaller dimensions -- I have a feeling the lines are inserted for some reason when the dimension text gets too close to the extension lines. In the following image and in the enclosed DWG, you can see what I mean:
At the bottom left is the tick block on its own. Above that a typical dimension, which looks fine. To the right of that you see the additional length added to the dimension line. And then the next 2 just show some more examples: the lines disappear when I go to 3'-2" but reappear at 2'-11" which is what led me to believe it was due to the proximity of the text to the lines.
Above all that I exploded a dimension and moved the components away from each other: there is a line added to the end of the block and that line does not show up at all in the 3'-3" dimension.
how to suppress these and why they are added in only when the text gets close to the linework?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe problem I've been noticing for a while now has been especially in OSX, now also on windows 7 is that whenever I have a PSD file open and go SAVE AS as a JPG alot of times I tend to do a batch from a single psd with different version.. ( name01.jpg name02.jpg name03.jpg etc.)
What I came across is that sometimes I tend to forget to select JPEG from the drop down menu (because the window always displays Photoshop File as default).
What happens is that Photoshop File is in the drop down menu and I name my file Name01.jpg it saves it as a Photoshop File with a .jpg extension. which confuses everyone that tries to open that file because they cant and its huge..
I remember on windows XP when this happened photoshop was kind enough to name my file Name01.jpg.psd which made the file stand out and approprietly named.
Aside from the whole .PSD .JPG issue with this not adding the appropriate extension automatically, this also causes problems when I name a file Name01 photoshop leaves it at that and does not add any extention to it so it becomes an orphan file on foreign computers.. It doesn't happen often but when it does I want to punch my computer in the face.
I'm sure I'm not the only one saving JPGs from Photoshop in large numbers that this happened to..
I had Lightroom 4 and had a problem that when importing any photos it would add the keyword "Otters" to all photos automaticlly. I now have Lightroom 5 and the same problem still exists. Where can I find how to change this? Have looked but can't find anywhere.

We have upgraded to X5 recently and I have noticed every time I open a file that has arrowheads it adds them to the list in X5. So my choice of arrowheads in X5 now is in the hundreds. I am wondering if there is a way to stop X5 from automatically adding new arrowheads to the list each time I open a new drawing. I have two sizes of arrows I want listed and nothing else.

I create Layout using Inventor, save the file into AUTOCAD DWG format,and then load it to AutoCad. After I open it, the predetermine dimensions (which I select to display the dimension in Inventor) are right. However, the dimension goes wrong if I do a new measurement on the Layout using Autocad. I just switched from Autocad 2007 to 2013. In 2007, when you move your mouse cursor on a vertice of a selected geometry, a rectangle for example, Autocad will automatically display the dimension of the geometry. This features seems to have been turned off by default. How to turn it back on?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am sizing illustrator artwork to be specific pixel dimensions (ex: 294 x 76 px). I slice by "making" slice (object/slice/make). I then export by saving for web & devices. When I then preview the artwork I see the file size is 295 x 77px the wrong size by one pixel. all artwork is expanded prior to being sliced so there are no drop-shadows or effects messing with the slices sizing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using CS5 on Windows. I created a photoshop file using the International Paper settings A4, which is 297 by 210 and 150 pixels per inch.
I've used the whole area around the document but I left around a 5mm margin around the edge of the document. When I come to print the document does not appear to be scaled correctly in the print preview, and then when I come to print on A4 paper measuring exactly 297 x 210 a large part of the image is chopped off at the bottom.
Why Photoshop seems to indicate it is a 297 x 210 file but when it comes to printing it is not scaled correctly?
Hovering over a row of thumbnails, I swap the full size photo following this code :

The full size photo swaps, but retaining the dimensions of the first one (initially on the Edge stage).
Even more puzzling, as you can see in the following screen capture, sometimes I can get the correct photo.width and photo.height (even if it isn't correctly assigned to the 'toile' element), and sometimes those values are zero ! And I feel so lost that this seems random.
May be it has to do with loading delay, asking the width and height information before it is available ? Should I necessarily preload the images ?
I want to create a rectangle with the correct dimensions for use in a HD video menu. It will be filled with graphic elements as well as text boxes. As referenced in the title it is for a 16x9 aspect ratio. I tried creating a rectangle 16"x9" but that looked too big.

I guess it was a droplet, "when the file is opened or created then add file info from a xmp file". I still have the xmp file with all the data in but i am unsure how to implement it being automatically opened and added to the file when i create a new one? View 8 Replies View RelatedI cannot get an added layer to show slightly transparent. I like the effect of bringing the main layer to the front and having most of the focus there with a slightly transparent layer for text, etc. Every time I try to use the transparent/opaque slider in the layer panel, it does nothing until I cross the 50% threshold and then the layer just disappears if I go below 50%. I originally had a .gif, but I tried saving it as .png, and .xcf (gimp file) and it still would not work.
Interestingly, I tried it on another .png I had and it worked.Why would it not work sometimes and then work other times? I have attached an example file. I wam trying to make the new layer with text slight transparent.

I have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
I have this issue where I have to merge lots of layers in order to finish the job. Thing is that two of them have layer styles added to them. Each one has two different layers styles added to it. If I try to merge the layers, the effect won't stay the same and only one layer style will apply (and not even this one works correctly).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a photo collage by scratch (not using "Collage"). First I create a new blank page for the background and save it. It is shown as "locked" with a padlock. Then I open an image file (.jpg) to add to the background layer, and I get a message that I need to unlock the background layer so I click to unlock it. However the added image locks onto the background layer and doesn't make a new layer. If I open another image file it locks on top of the others.

I always organize my files with elements at the top of the document at the top of the layers panel and have them in decending order (unless there is a reason for an object to be above another) so that it is easier to navigate the page. Right now this means I spend a lot of time moving layers up and down which gets rather annoying. I believe I saw at one point that there is a key command for duplicating a layer below the existing one, but I can't remember how anymore. ability to make a blanket change in preferences.

It is like a hide or mask feature turns on and off.
