I'm trying to gauge interest / opinions in this AutoCAD add on for automatically binding and PDFing drawings ready for issuing - it also adds the revision to the file name.

I used to be able to just open any image and my copyright info would be inserted into the file data. I guess it was a droplet, "when the file is opened or created then add file info from a xmp file". I still have the xmp file with all the data in but i am unsure how to implement it being automatically opened and added to the file when i create a new one? I thought i could handle it, i assume its a droplet of some sort.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a full set of water drawing that need to be submitted to the City’s Water Department. We have to include DWF and DWG drawings on a CDRom, but that is easy. The issue is that there is a stand-alone submittal set. Now, this is not hard to do with Sheet Set Manager; that is not the problem. The problem is that the Water Department has a special set of layers that they want any Civil to use for submittal. These layers are of course different from the NCS we are using now and in our CD submittal set.
Is there a better way than to insert or bind the drawings to a special set of drawings and then change the names? I would most likely use either the “rename” command or the “layer translator” function in Civil 3D 2012. However, if I ever had a revision that affects the base drawing and the CD set; I would have to re do all this binging/inserting and renaming over as well.
My quest: if your in a different layer working on adding walls for eg. You want add a dimension to that wall. When I hit DLI, How do I make sure that the dim i just entered goes directly to the DIM layer instead of the wall layer.

I have 2 of 4 workstations with this issue, AutoCAD will automtically save the file when the files is closed, w/o any prompts to verify of we want to saved or not.
I have my Options|Autosave turned off, but this should not affect the save on close it should only create a continual ac$ backup file.
This is now the 2nd time this has occured. In early March we noticed this and in dealing with AutoCAD (Suscription Service) we finally deceided to restore AutoCAD to factory defaults, which did fix the issue at the time. However it also meant that I needed to retore all the pathways and our standards. Once completed, I paid particular attention to ensuring that AutoCAD was NOT saving the file on close and it was doing so up until earlier this week, when I noticed it SAVING on close again.
Now most of you might think, hey thats a good thing, however, we routinely will test modifications to our layouts on our working files, but dont want to actually modify those files and then we would simply close the drawing w/o saving thus ensuring that those mods were not saved.
In March, both 2007 & 2013 did this, however only my 2013 is affected now.
i insert raster image reference (jpg file) in my drawing, and i would like to bind this image .
any solution to bind image, so i can open dwg on any other computer without attachment.
The problem I've been noticing for a while now has been especially in OSX, now also on windows 7 is that whenever I have a PSD file open and go SAVE AS as a JPG alot of times I tend to do a batch from a single psd with different version.. ( name01.jpg name02.jpg name03.jpg etc.)
What I came across is that sometimes I tend to forget to select JPEG from the drop down menu (because the window always displays Photoshop File as default).
What happens is that Photoshop File is in the drop down menu and I name my file Name01.jpg it saves it as a Photoshop File with a .jpg extension. which confuses everyone that tries to open that file because they cant and its huge..
I remember on windows XP when this happened photoshop was kind enough to name my file Name01.jpg.psd which made the file stand out and approprietly named.
Aside from the whole .PSD .JPG issue with this not adding the appropriate extension automatically, this also causes problems when I name a file Name01 photoshop leaves it at that and does not add any extention to it so it becomes an orphan file on foreign computers.. It doesn't happen often but when it does I want to punch my computer in the face.
I'm sure I'm not the only one saving JPGs from Photoshop in large numbers that this happened to..
I had Lightroom 4 and had a problem that when importing any photos it would add the keyword "Otters" to all photos automaticlly. I now have Lightroom 5 and the same problem still exists. Where can I find how to change this? Have looked but can't find anywhere.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI add 3 folder locations to the Support File Search Path. At random, all 3 of these locations disappear. I haven't tracked when this happens and what maybe happened previously, but I know I'm not the only one within my office that this has happened to. The paths are on a file server for our blocks.
Not sure how relevant this is, but I have a HP Z420 Workstation, W7-64-bit, Autodesk Building Design Suite Ultimate, using AutoCAD MEP 2013.
My company has been using Designer 9 for years and we have thousands of drawings done in it. We have upgraded to X5 recently and I have noticed every time I open a file that has arrowheads it adds them to the list in X5. So my choice of arrowheads in X5 now is in the hundreds. I am wondering if there is a way to stop X5 from automatically adding new arrowheads to the list each time I open a new drawing. I have two sizes of arrows I want listed and nothing else.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I am working on several drawngs at the same time, I use the Publish command to plot them as a group. However to save the settings as a DSD file for future use, every open file needs to be saved. Why is this? Is there a way to disable that requirement?
There is no reason I can think of besides "by design" for this. The DSD file is only a list of drawings and their plot settings and is not dpendent in any way I can think of, to whether or not one its drawings is open and not saved.
why, when setting up a field on a drawing,... you cannot choose the Revision? It should show up as a Document Field category... but it is not available to choose? How are you supposed to link a revision field in your title block, to the revision set as a file property by Vault? URL.....

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create some new templates for 2013 and I'm trying to figure a way to get the model revision number to populate into the drawing's iproperty revision number so that they will match upon save. I'm trying to do this by creating an ilogic rule but I don't see a system property in the idw that will allow me to access the 3D model iprops. I am going to Event Trigger the rule to run Before Save. Is this possible?
On the drawing border I have created a formatted text box that is built as:
Type: Properties - Model
Property: Revision Number
It simply pulls the data from the models revision number and populates the text box. I need this same thing to happen but rather than populate into a text box I need it to populate into the drawings revision number iprop.

For some reason my dimensions are exploded automatically in some of my drawings. (The arrows and lines are not connected) Only certain drawings though-other drawings are perfectly fine. I've tried pasting dimensions into the drawings and that doesn't work!!

I have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes.The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
Any utilities that would spit out the dimscale of a bunch of drawings to a delimited file.

The help file ~seems~ to say that if i select this, the contents of all open documents (layouts and/or model space) are automatically loaded.... but they don't.
I know i can pick the Add Sheets button and manually select all the drawings i have open but doesn't that defeat the purpose of this checkbox?
Can the Data Extraction Wizard be added to 2013LT?

When trying to open any drawings from our AutoDesk Vault 2013 server, AutoCAD will hard lock/freeze and can only be closed by using Windows Task Manager. When accessing the same files through the Vault first, without opening AutoCAD, they open with no issues.

Maybe I cant view or set these properties when points were added using "Point Files" option.??

View 1 Replies View Relatedif i need to rename or change anything in the iproperties of ipt, im doing it from the vault.my problem is that, when i change something in iproperties of an ipt thru vault, i have to open the idw to update it.
as most of the iproperties in ipt shows in the idw.
its easy to change the properties in vault. but its deleting its purpose if i have to each idw to make sure i have the updated idw.is there a code where i can open all idw and save the same file and checking to the vault automatically?
Here is Mediainfo for file that VS X6 nor X5 can handle. It simply dies as soon as the file is placed on the timeline. Any reason this Panasonic GH3 created file can't be used in VS? (60p editing is enabled)
