I had Lightroom 4 and had a problem that when importing any photos it would add the keyword "Otters" to all photos automaticlly. I now have Lightroom 5 and the same problem still exists. Where can I find how to change this? Have looked but can't find anywhere.
View 4 RepliesLong, long, keyword hierarchy. Clicking on a keyword takes the focus back up to the keyword filter box. Usually happens if I've used the filter box to narrow down the keywords that are visible. Continues even after the filter box has been cleared. Doesn't happen all the time though. It is a real pain when trying to double click a keyword to edit it as the first click or the double click causes the list to refresh showing only the top entries. The second click (of the double click) then causes whatever keyword is now under the pointer to be keyword to be edited - NOT the keyword under the pointer when I started the double click.
I've seen this happen in both LR3.0 and LR3.2RC.
Windows XP, 32bit.
I'm new to LightRoom and am glad to have found this great resource. Onto the issue at hand:
An ongoing office project is using LR3 to catalog 30 years' worth of images gathered from various media. Some are scans of slides, negatives, or prints; others are images straight from a digital camera. We have three people working on this cataloging project. The lead guy has created keywords on his computer that he uses to tag these images. Is there any way to make sure the keywords he's using on his machine sync with and are available to the other users of the image catalog? If not, is there a file that would have to be shared among the three users to make that functionality happen?

If I am in Library module, select filter Metadata, select Keywords from dropdown (no other filter panels selected), and start to scroll down the list of keywords, I can select keywords by mouseclick, and see the matching photos as thumbs in the main window.
However as I scroll further down, I can no longer select keywords - the mouseclick no longer highlights or selects. This happens rather incosnsistently - by which I mean, the point in the eyword list where the select stops working is not always the same place in the keyword list.
If I click several times on the same non-selecting keyword, LR4.4 jumps to taking 50% (exactly) of processor time (shown in task manager) , and the memory usage climbs steadily until all free RAM is consumed.
This is a small (~8000 image) catalogue, with ~2500 keywords, entirely non-hierarchical.
The catalogue is set to optimise on backup, weekly.
I've tried deleting and recreating the preferences file btw to no avail
The problem I've been noticing for a while now has been especially in OSX, now also on windows 7 is that whenever I have a PSD file open and go SAVE AS as a JPG alot of times I tend to do a batch from a single psd with different version.. ( name01.jpg name02.jpg name03.jpg etc.)
What I came across is that sometimes I tend to forget to select JPEG from the drop down menu (because the window always displays Photoshop File as default).
What happens is that Photoshop File is in the drop down menu and I name my file Name01.jpg it saves it as a Photoshop File with a .jpg extension. which confuses everyone that tries to open that file because they cant and its huge..
I remember on windows XP when this happened photoshop was kind enough to name my file Name01.jpg.psd which made the file stand out and approprietly named.
Aside from the whole .PSD .JPG issue with this not adding the appropriate extension automatically, this also causes problems when I name a file Name01 photoshop leaves it at that and does not add any extention to it so it becomes an orphan file on foreign computers.. It doesn't happen often but when it does I want to punch my computer in the face.
I'm sure I'm not the only one saving JPGs from Photoshop in large numbers that this happened to..
My quest: if your in a different layer working on adding walls for eg. You want add a dimension to that wall. When I hit DLI, How do I make sure that the dim i just entered goes directly to the DIM layer instead of the wall layer.

We have upgraded to X5 recently and I have noticed every time I open a file that has arrowheads it adds them to the list in X5. So my choice of arrowheads in X5 now is in the hundreds. I am wondering if there is a way to stop X5 from automatically adding new arrowheads to the list each time I open a new drawing. I have two sizes of arrows I want listed and nothing else.

I used to be able to just open any image and my copyright info would be inserted into the file data. I guess it was a droplet, "when the file is opened or created then add file info from a xmp file". I still have the xmp file with all the data in but i am unsure how to implement it being automatically opened and added to the file when i create a new one? I thought i could handle it, i assume its a droplet of some sort.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have used multiple versions of Lightroom (2, 3, 4, and now 5). Why can't I add keyword tags to multiple photos? I know that it can be done while importing, but I usually import a whole day's worth of pictures at one time and they don't require all the same keyword tags. The ones that are common I do add during import. I used to be able to highlight the photos I wanted to add tags to, go to the metadata and find find the list of keywords applied to those photos. Tags that were not common to all photos has an * beside them. If I wished to have one of these tags for all the selected photos I just removed the *, otherwise I added the new tag to the list.

Now on adding additional pages, Lightroom says "page limit reached - The current output format limits the page count to 240, so additional pages cannot be added". I changed the layout of the book to hard cover image wrap and the paper type to standard. But Lightroom continues to give the same message.
Now my question is, if there is a page limit in Lightroom. On the Blurb homepage the limit for a photobook with this layout with standard paper is 440 pages. I have spent a lots of time in creating 239 pages and I don’t want to restart.
I don't mind starting with a sort by name or time added. But then I'd like to move a few around. I'm going to make a web gallery, and sometimes want to tweak the order of presentation. is this possible?

Lightroom LR4 - very slow Keyword set updating 1] keyword an image with some keywords from a keyword set. Those keywords are highlighted in keyword set 2] select next image 3] wait about 4 to 5 seconds for highlighted keywords to be non highlighted.he problem with this, is that yo cannot use the keyword set to apply these keywords to the newly selected image until they are not highlighted any more.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Lightroom 4.1; 64 bit; Win7. All of a sudden my keyword list is not showing the correct number of photos to which a particular keyword is attached. It doesn't show any for some when there are a number photos with that particular keyword (although it also does not show "0"). For other keywords, it dispolays a number but it is incorrect (apparently always a lower number than actually applicable. I do not seem to be using a filter that might reduce the number.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've built up an extensive heirarchial keyword list in one of my catalogs. I want to export that list to use in other catalogs. I see how you export the keyword list and I get a text file, however, settings applied to each keyword doesn't seem to get exported (i.e. the settings for "Include on Export", "Export Containing Keywords" and "Export Synonyms"). I spent a lot of time building the list such that only the leaf-level keywords get exported to my image. However, when I export my keyword list from one catalog and import it into a new catalog, those settings are lost. Is there a way to export those settings as well? I could create keyword sets, but that would be another time consuming endeavour.

I wanted to work on the photos of Day 3. When I entered "Day 3" in the find box, days 1 and 2's photos also appreared. I jumped on the net and read on a site not to use spaces. Question: How would you have tagged Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 in the key words?

1) Displaying Keywords for a photo - In PSE, the properties panel can list all the Tags associated with a photo. The only way I can see the keywords for a photo in LR is to go to the keywords list, expand all the sub levels and look for check marks. Is there a simpler/easier way?
2) Displaying a photo for a keyword - I have a keyword which has a count of 1 against it. If I try to filter by that keyword (by clicking the right arrow next to the count) nothing is displayed. I tried making a collection with just the keyword specified and it contains one photo but again nothing is displayed. I suspect that it might be something to do with version sets brought over from PSE but I've tried unstacking everything and still can't find the photo.
We use lightroom to edit our pictures (about 25.000 pictures a week).We have a deep archiving system which uses a thesaurus (controlled vocabulary list if you like)That deep archiving system picks up the embeded metadata we enter in lightroom.
For the keywords however, we need lightroom to be able to import an .xml file provided by that professional deep archiving system on a regular basis (weekly ?)
There is a plugin available here URL.... but it does not seem to work .I tried contacting the author but I got no response.
In the Keywording panel, the rectangle where you can enter or edit keyword tags shows a white border. Tags cannot be added or changed. The dropdown above the box is set to Enter Keywords.
Not sure to how restore editing ability.
How do I find photos without a keyword tag?
And by the way a further question regarding keyword tags remains unanswered...Why is there a difference between the number next to the keyword and the actual index number in the keyword folder?
I am trying to create a parent keyword, but everytime I click the + the name I want ends up in this keyword list? What is this dot after food and drink?
