Lightroom :: Get Sort By File Name Not By Added Order?
May 28, 2012When I import, LR for some reasons seems to always default the sort to added order, not filename. Its a real nuisance, anything I can do.

View 4 Replies View RelatedScanning old photographs, with multiple photos in each scanned image. I've created a virtual copy for each individual photograph and then crop appropriately. However, photographs have different dates and I want to be able to sort them chronolgically. Ideally I'd set the Capture Time on each virtual copy and use that as the Sort order, but LR doesn't separate images co-joined in a Virtual set, so to speak. It seems like it looks at the Capture Time of the Master copy of a virtual set.
The only way I can see how to do this is to export, re-import into a different catalogue, and then apply Capture Time metadata. This is quite a cumbersome workaround. I'd like to do this all in the same catalogue...also exporting / importing re-compresses the image and would like to avoid that.
how to sort on date with virtual copies?
I'm in search of an answer for a MAJOR problem I am having! When I capture pics to a file for a project, they are renamed to a time and do not stay named as my original file. It is absolutely necessary for the pics to be in numerical order for the projects I do. I see an option to sort, but it sorts by new name (time) instead of the original file name. I've not been able to find an answer and I have a HUGE project that must be completed tomorrow evening.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded to 2012 and I am having a few issues with the title blocks I am creating. For some reason everytime I add attributes to the block they never come out in order. For example I create the title page, add the attributes using ATTDEF (job name etc) then I create the block and check my attributes using BATTORDER, I can arrange them using the up/down buttons which is fine. But as soon as I try to edit the attributes outside the block editor they are all out of order again! I have tried making the attributes in and outside of the block editor with no avail! And to make matters worse I have a jumpy mouse.

View 7 Replies View Relatedcan i custmize the sort order of fiter or metadata items draging up or down?

The default sort for the Photo Downloader seems be by date and time. I recently purchased a camera the does up to 10 fps and the Downloader does not seems to have resolution to sort the micro-second or even second. I batch download the images and also do a rename of the files in this format yyyymmdd-###. I am finding my action sequences are all out of order. What I really just need the Downloader to do is sort by sequential camera number just like it comes out of the camera. Then all the images would be renamed in the right order. I tried modifying the XML settings file but that was no success.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to just open any image and my copyright info would be inserted into the file data. I guess it was a droplet, "when the file is opened or created then add file info from a xmp file". I still have the xmp file with all the data in but i am unsure how to implement it being automatically opened and added to the file when i create a new one? I thought i could handle it, i assume its a droplet of some sort.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any method to sort sketch blocks in a part file? All of our sketch blocks are numbered with a profile number. When we create a new multi-body assembly we will often derive 50-100 of them into the master file. It would be great if we could sort them by profile number.
The next best solution would be the ability to create sub-folders to place them in by type (sort of like assembly folders), but I'm pretty sure this isn't possible.
in Lightroom 5.3, I have reached page 239 on creating a large landscape photobook. Now on adding additional pages, Lightroom says "page limit reached - The current output format limits the page count to 240, so additional pages cannot be added". I changed the layout of the book to hard cover image wrap and the paper type to standard. But Lightroom continues to give the same message.
Now my question is, if there is a page limit in Lightroom. On the Blurb homepage the limit for a photobook with this layout with standard paper is 440 pages. I have spent a lots of time in creating 239 pages and I don’t want to restart.
How to sort images manually in Lightroom.
Before an import I try to drag around images and they don't drag.
After an import, I try to drag around images and they don't drag.
No images are selected. I'm at a loss.
In LR5 I wish to sort by file name. However my camera names files as ABC123, ABC124, ABC125 etc etc. Lightroom sorts such names as ABC3, ABC2, ABC5 etc because the numeral part of the name is looked as as an ascii not a numeral. I think!!
However whatever the reason, sorting such file names doesn't work. As each import may consist of several hundred files, renaming manually to avoid numerals isn't an option.
Is there a naming system that can be automated that would result in this type of sorting resulting in what a human would expect?
Filenames such as Garden(1), Garden(2) etc are no better by the way.
I would like to be able to sort a set of photos by those that have Develop Adjustments and those that do not. For now, I don't want to sort by the type of adjustment.....just whether or not an image has one.
