View 4 RepliesThe default sort for the Photo Downloader seems be by date and time. I recently purchased a camera the does up to 10 fps and the Downloader does not seems to have resolution to sort the micro-second or even second. I batch download the images and also do a rename of the files in this format yyyymmdd-###. I am finding my action sequences are all out of order. What I really just need the Downloader to do is sort by sequential camera number just like it comes out of the camera. Then all the images would be renamed in the right order. I tried modifying the XML settings file but that was no success.

I select Sort by: Newest and they are sorted in newest DATE order but within each date they are sorted on oldest time order, which seems odd... how can I get PSE to sort so that Newest is based on date and time?

Do I need to select the BreezeData and CAXMPFiles subfolders? What are they for?
BreezeData contains 15,000 files, and CAXMPFiles contains 5,000 files. I don't want to back them up if they are not needed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm in search of an answer for a MAJOR problem I am having! When I capture pics to a file for a project, they are renamed to a time and do not stay named as my original file. It is absolutely necessary for the pics to be in numerical order for the projects I do. I see an option to sort, but it sorts by new name (time) instead of the original file name. I've not been able to find an answer and I have a HUGE project that must be completed tomorrow evening.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am missing a feature to sort pictures randomly in Lightroom. Often, when I compile photos from different times/locations etc I would like to show them in a slideshow randomly. Today I don't find this sorting option in LR.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I import, LR for some reasons seems to always default the sort to added order, not filename. Its a real nuisance, anything I can do.

Is there a way to set the sort order in Sheet Set Manager for the Model Views tab? Seems like a few releases ago it was alphabetical - now its random and almost impossible to locate a specific drawing in a large project.
Tried changing MAXSORT and it did not have an effect.
How do I sort LR4 Folders so newest photos are top of page instead of bottom? It makes sense to me that the most recent photos, the ones I just downloaded, should be at the top of the Library page, not the bottom. How can I reverse the order so the newest are at the top?
View 16 Replies View Relatedwhy all of a sudden all my images and folders are not in alphabetical order. everytime you re-name or add a file to photoshop it detects and goes in order. now ive got to search to see where that file is.
View 7 Replies View RelatedScanning old photographs, with multiple photos in each scanned image. I've created a virtual copy for each individual photograph and then crop appropriately. However, photographs have different dates and I want to be able to sort them chronolgically. Ideally I'd set the Capture Time on each virtual copy and use that as the Sort order, but LR doesn't separate images co-joined in a Virtual set, so to speak. It seems like it looks at the Capture Time of the Master copy of a virtual set.
The only way I can see how to do this is to export, re-import into a different catalogue, and then apply Capture Time metadata. This is quite a cumbersome workaround. I'd like to do this all in the same catalogue...also exporting / importing re-compresses the image and would like to avoid that.
how to sort on date with virtual copies?
I tried rebooting but there seems to be no way to move images from the grid under folders to catalogs. Can't drag and drop in LR 5.3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I move folders between catalogs how do I save my rating system ( flags, stars etc.) Also how can I move a collection between catalogs?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI don't understand Lightroom.
For example, I use LR4.2 on a desktop and on a laptop. Both computers (Windows 7 64bit) access the same image folders. On my laptop in a folder I have 42 master images and 5 virtual (soft proofs) images for a total of 47 images. But when I open LR4.2 on the desktop I don't see the 5 virtual (soft proofs) on the 42 master images.
Why can't I see the 5 virtual proofs since I am accessing the exact folder and how can I see the virtual proofs created on the laptop at the desktop.
Is there a way to have the organizer folders set up the same was as Windows Explorer? I have a main folder called Family with sub folders for all the years and in each of the subfolders there could be other subfolders. It wouldn't allow me to click on main folder and get all sub folders. I had to open main folder and then it shows all folders and sub folders separately. They are no longer nested.
Along the same lines, I wanted to create an album of Family with all subfolders, but that doesn't work.that is definitely a short coming which is why I never have used the organizer program, but just PSE for editing.
1. When creating a subclip from the source sequence, I then go to edit the name of the new subclip in the Media Library. After doing this, the sequence timeline switches to what looks like a viewer, and won't switch out of that mode until I double-click a sequence in the Media Library. This appears to happen when I create a new folder and drag the subclip into it.
2. Clips in the Medial Library within Folders are in sorted order. Please allow the editor to place clips, folders and sequences in whatever order they want, via drag and drop placement.
3. Shift-/ (play in-out) does not appear to work.
4. Names in the Media Library that are too long only show the end of the name. Standard Mac behavior is to show the beginning, then an ellipsis, and finally the end.
5. When viewing a source "timeline" (which rocks, BTW), please remove the name of the source from the timeline track. It gets in the way of audio waveforms, and in this case, is redundant since there's only the one clip anyway.
i'm a hobby sports photographer. I shot lots of fast series. After an import into organizer pics with same time stamp are arranged in random order so the series get mangled. It is no fun to bring back the correct sequence by hand for hundereds of pictures. Slideshows, Video etc. are senseless.
A simple "sort by name" would solve this. So, how to sort by name?
