Nov 28, 2007I am missing a feature to sort pictures randomly in Lightroom. Often, when I compile photos from different times/locations etc I would like to show them in a slideshow randomly. Today I don't find this sorting option in LR.

Oct 11, 2013Scanning old photographs, with multiple photos in each scanned image. I've created a virtual copy for each individual photograph and then crop appropriately. However, photographs have different dates and I want to be able to sort them chronolgically. Ideally I'd set the Capture Time on each virtual copy and use that as the Sort order, but LR doesn't separate images co-joined in a Virtual set, so to speak. It seems like it looks at the Capture Time of the Master copy of a virtual set.
The only way I can see how to do this is to export, re-import into a different catalogue, and then apply Capture Time metadata. This is quite a cumbersome workaround. I'd like to do this all in the same catalogue...also exporting / importing re-compresses the image and would like to avoid that.

Lightroom :: Currently Selected Source Doesn't Support Custom Order
Aug 30, 2012i am new to LR with LR4 upgraded to LR4.1. I can import images from my hard drive photo folders but LR won't let me reorder them. I get the message "The currently selected source does not support custom order". Why is this? I find it strange that such a sophisticated product as LR doesn't allow the user to move images around within a folder, especially when it can be done easily in Bridge.

Aug 12, 2011I'm in search of an answer for a MAJOR problem I am having! When I capture pics to a file for a project, they are renamed to a time and do not stay named as my original file. It is absolutely necessary for the pics to be in numerical order for the projects I do. I see an option to sort, but it sorts by new name (time) instead of the original file name. I've not been able to find an answer and I have a HUGE project that must be completed tomorrow evening.

Jul 7, 2013The default sort for the Photo Downloader seems be by date and time. I recently purchased a camera the does up to 10 fps and the Downloader does not seems to have resolution to sort the micro-second or even second. I batch download the images and also do a rename of the files in this format yyyymmdd-###. I am finding my action sequences are all out of order. What I really just need the Downloader to do is sort by sequential camera number just like it comes out of the camera. Then all the images would be renamed in the right order. I tried modifying the XML settings file but that was no success.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create And Define Multiple Custom Properties For Individual Sheets?
Apr 24, 2013the only property I can actually define for each individual sheet (for use in iLogic, text fields, etc.) is the sheet name. This is extremely limiting. Each sheet in my drawings has several properties of its own--sheet number (most importantly), what part is ON the sheet, the designer, the revision, etc. I would love to be able to use each of these in labels on the sheet, for example, a text box with "<Sheet #> - <Part> (<Designer>)". The only possible way I could do something like this is to use the sheet number as the Sheet Name, and then use that value in the sheet's text labels, headings, and title block. However, I want to be able to use descriptive names for the Sheet Name, plus that's just one property.
Is there any way I can create and define multiple custom properties for individual sheets? I was exploring the idea of using iLogic, using the ActiveSheet command, possibly, and "tricking" inventor into creating properties for a given sheet.

Jul 31, 2012I'm developing a routine that uses a windows form to gather data from the user. For a lot of this I need info for the Left side & the Right side. I have pretty much finished writing the code to take care of the Right side. I have 40 properties now all with "Right" in their names in anticipation of needing corresponding "Left" ones. I have numerous textboxes, checkboxes, & radio buttons on the form along with various input validation methods used to set these 40 properties.
I could just copy all of this code & replace "Right" with "Left", but there are about 500 lines of code (hard to tell since I use a lot of white space), and that seems rather inefficient, especially if something needs to change.
I'm starting to think that maybe I should develop this into one custom control that could be used for both sides. Any alternative ways of dealing 40 right properties & 40 left properties and all that goes behind making those properties work.

Right now I created prompt line "rev (1)", "by (1)", "rev (2)" and so on, but this still wont show the right order in custom props.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Properties / Model - Changing Order Of Placed Views
Oct 21, 2013Within the drawing title block we have a 'Text' of type 'Custom Properties - Model' which pulls in a custom iprop from a model which is the models finished weight. This is a common way of auto populating title box entries.
The problem is that the sheet populates the text with the info related to the first viewport placed upon the drawing.
Whilst fine when planned for properly, I quite often encounter upon large multisheet detail drawings, that a user when detailing an IAM, will have forgotten to put the IAM view down first, especially later in the drawing series where the IAM is not required and the user is detailing IPT's.
What I am looking for is a way to change which viewport the border properties are related to ideally, so that if a user has forgotten to place the IAM but has placed 20 IPT's down, I could place an IAM outside of the maximum area, as the 21st object but fool Inventor into thinking this was the first viewport placed down, thus populating the border info correctly.
I don't know of a way to do this currently, either with current Inventor functionality, or by programmatic approach - our current fix is to have the user create another drawing sheet, place the IAM outside the maximum area, copy all his IPT viewports across from the first sheet, then delete the first sheet. Is it possible to change the object order of placed viewports with less disruption?
