AutoCAD Inventor :: Compare Two Similar Solid Model Or Two Similar Drawing
Feb 6, 2013
How to compare two similar solid model and found where its differetiate is, and how to compare two similar drawing let say rev.1 to rev.2 and found where its differentiate is?
My annotations disappear when i replace an ipt with similar ipt in an idw file. The view and the browser update to the new part but the annotation disappear.
I have a .stp file that I am trying to dimension on a drawing. There are about 100 or so lightening pockets that are all the same basic shape (a rectangle with a full round on the ends). As of now I have been manually making a table for each location. Is there a way to create something like a hole table to automatically capture the locations of the pockets and create a corresponding table? I know I can create a centermrk on the round portions to use with a hole table but I want to dimension from the center of the pockets for the table.
Is there a way of using design accelerator to rivet fix as you would with bolted connection ? I know that by initiating the bolted connection command there is no option to use rivet to complete the connection as is done with bolts. It would be great if rivets from the content centre could be somehow imported into the bolted connection component generator (or readily available) to add like bolted connection or if there are any 'workaround's' to produced similar results ?
Is there a way to convert an Inventor 2012 view scale from "0.5" to "1:2" or similar within an iLogic rule? I can extract the main view scale and plug it into a variable but the format isn't correct for the drawings I'm creating.
I've made an stairs assembly that contains adaptive parts that are all controlled by the assembly parameters.
Here is my assembly and the controlling parameters. The stringers on the side are made with the frame generator and use the "extend" feature to get the appropriate length, as driven by the parameters. The reason I used frame generator is so that I can easily change sizes of the stringers down the road, if needed. I chose to make the parts associative so I could control all of the parameters from within the assembly instead of opening each part separately.
My goal now is to be able to use this assembly (or something similar) as a template to create new sets of stairs, all to be placed in the same main assembly.
I attempted to duplicate all of the parts (append a "2" at the end of each file name and replace components in the new set of stairs with the 2nd version) but ran into problems with the two stringers. I can't figure out what to do to get the Frame00001 and Skeleton00001 to reassociate to Frame00002 and Skeleton00002. So any time I change my slope, the original stairs will end up trying to copy the new stringers instead of keeping the old ones.
how can I make this assembly reference a new frame, and secondly?
I am using AutoCAD LT 2004 and I have two separate xrefs and the orientation is different in each. How do I get each one to be similar in model space without having to to into the original files? Is there a way besides just rotating (RO) each file?
I am currently looking for a tool like the 'WIPEOUT' tool. the main difference being that i would like to wipe just 1 1or 2 layers, so that the other layers still show.
I've got a problem with some of my text's in Autocad. From the screenshot you can see some different texts, theese are copied by their content and pasted manually.
Now, ive got to change the content of theese, and i dont want to do that 1 by 1. Is there a way i could edit for ex. all my YV-E-------------1H at the same time?
How to use the command “select similar” to be applied on a selected part of the drawing? I wanted to use the “select similar” command to select all the columns for a particular drawing on the file but not in all the existing drawings. This is why I number obtained is 60 columns not 20!
Then how to choose the “window selection” in which the “select similar” command is applied?
When I add dimensions to an 3d object in an isometric (or similar) view, the dimension lines get placed way off screen, and the leader lines are projected onto the x-y plane.
Additionally, when I try to add lines to an object that is far from the x-y plane, the mouse position responds to the line's location as if it were drawing on the x-y plane.
Do I have to continually make custom UCS coordinates just to draw in 3d without hassle? There are other times when this does not happen (perhaps only when my 3d object is very near the x-y plane...
My autocad crashes when I'm working with many similar objects. As the roof shingles. Even when creating a block with all objects, when passing the cursor over the block cause the system to crash (its even worst this way). It seems that the program attempts to process each tile individually (further these tiles are rounded).I've been working with large roofs, such as 9mx4m.
I'm developing a routine that uses a windows form to gather data from the user. For a lot of this I need info for the Left side & the Right side. I have pretty much finished writing the code to take care of the Right side. I have 40 properties now all with "Right" in their names in anticipation of needing corresponding "Left" ones. I have numerous textboxes, checkboxes, & radio buttons on the form along with various input validation methods used to set these 40 properties.
I could just copy all of this code & replace "Right" with "Left", but there are about 500 lines of code (hard to tell since I use a lot of white space), and that seems rather inefficient, especially if something needs to change.
I'm starting to think that maybe I should develop this into one custom control that could be used for both sides. Any alternative ways of dealing 40 right properties & 40 left properties and all that goes behind making those properties work.
I have several rectangles in a drawing which have the same dimensions, is it possible to perform a multi select of these items by specifying the lenghts of the rectangles ? I can't see a way of doing this under QSelect or Filter.
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 SP2 64-Bit Edition Windows 7 HP Z400, Intel Xeon W3550 3.07GHz 12.0GB RAM, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)
Is there some sort of a getradius function in lisp? I'd like to display a preview of a circle as the user drags the cursor away from the centre point, similar to the way getcorner displays a preview of a rectangle.
For whatever reason the "select similar" command has disappeared from both my right click menu and my cui list when I'm in my personal profile on Architecture... Can't seem to get it back in my personal profile although can access it if I go back to the Autodesk Standard profile.
My problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.
When you select similar using autocad it select similar in entire drawing. What i want is i am able to select similar using the same setting of selecting similar but with window selection instead of entire drawing ?
i am working on writing a lisp to update several similar drawings through a .bat file. One of the things i would like to do is to automatically increase the revision number by one. I have figured out everything except how to select the text. Looking at the database, the coordinates for the revision number are (10 15.2908 0.0295 0.0). However, (setq a (ssget "x" '((0 . "TEXT,MTEXT")(10 15.2908 0.0295 0.0)))) returns nil.
If each drawing's revision number is not in the exact same location, is it possible to select by a range of coordinates? Using (getpoint), the range is from (15.5 0.0 0.0) to (15.1805 0.1409 0.0).
I have a library of dynamic blocks that we use for various systems. Each dynamic block has roughly 50-100 visibility states. Sometimes I need to use previous drawings for a new phase of work and the symbols that were previously new are now existing and need to have the letter "E" next to it to indicate as existing.
Currently I have duplicate dynamic blocks for "existing" and "re-located" blocks. This seems redundant and would be much more logical to select a number of devices and simply change a visibility to either new, existing, or re-located. However, I cannot think of how to do this unless either with an attribute or a second visibility pulldown.
So I need an sub assembly similar to the SuperLayerVaryingWidth, but combined with BasicLane Transition sub. If the SuperLayerVaryingWidth sub would follow an ETW profile to set slope, then I would be set. Any tips on how to create this? I'm pretty rusty at building custom subs.
I have a previously converted Microstation drawing in Autocad 2011. In the conversion all blocks were given unique names. I would like to edit similar blocks globally. Many of the Microstation blocks look like the standard blocks I use. Does a Lisp routine exist that can select similar Microstation blocks and give them a single name?
The problem is about drawing a solid model like the one in the attachment, and I have problem with the triangle, I tried a lot of things, but unfortunately it's not the same as it should be
My work is in the attachment.
and one more thing, as it's my first time with these kind of drawing I need to know what's the meaning (10 Drill, 20 C'bore) for a circle and how I can do it you can find it in the attachment
I want to create a space style similar to BOMA with editable boundaries to use for LEED Daylighting calculations. I figured out how to make a new property set definitions, new space style, etc., but I can't get the boundaries to read as the LEED boundaries. I want the Base area to remain as is, but I want NET to be Daylit, Useable to be Sidelit, and Gross to be Toplit.
I could do the workaround and just use the OOTB BOMA style, but then others editing will have to constantly translate which means what as we edit the drawings. When you look at the display display Properties for the space style, the boundaries and hatches read as net, useable, etc. I can't figure out where to redefine those and when you right click the space and Edit Boundary, I need to be able to display the correct properties, not the BOMA properties.
Basically I have a centerline alignment for a roadway and another alignment for a retaining wall. They both have the same bearings and a common horizontal bend point, though the wall tapers off in another direction at the end. The issue I'm having is at the common horizontal bend point, when I label my retaining wall bend point and reference the centerline I get a different centerline station than what I should be getting. It appears that when Civil3D calculates the reference station, it uses the line segment after the bend point instead of the line segment before.
Is this dependent on a C3D setting and is it possible to change this?
we have moved from AutoCAD MEP 2012 to AutoCAD 2014 recently using Dynamic blocks with multiple visibility states.
in 2012 we could select a dynamic block with a specific visibility state and select similar, it would only select the visibility state that was previously selected.
in 2014 that is no longer an option WTH?
i have tried a couple of system variables to no avail (pickadd, selectionmode)2014
