View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently converted to Mac from pc, and upgraded from LR 3.6 to LR 4 at the same time.Apple transferred all of my pc files transferred to the Mac, and then I downloaded the LR upgrade. That may have been a mistake, as all of the 3.6 catalogs remained on the PC. How do I get the 3.6 PC catalogs into the new version on the Mac? I'm thinking that perhaps I should uninstall LR, have Apple repeat the data migration, and then reinstall the LR 4? Or, is there another way?

For example, I use LR4.2 on a desktop and on a laptop. Both computers (Windows 7 64bit) access the same image folders. On my laptop in a folder I have 42 master images and 5 virtual (soft proofs) images for a total of 47 images. But when I open LR4.2 on the desktop I don't see the 5 virtual (soft proofs) on the 42 master images.
Why can't I see the 5 virtual proofs since I am accessing the exact folder and how can I see the virtual proofs created on the laptop at the desktop.
I have 2 machines: one is a Mac and one is Windows. Each has a copy of the photos (identical directory structure) and its own lightroom catalog.
All the individual photos/xmp are perfectly syncronized.
If I create a book on machine A, can I copy it to machine B?
How? Export as catalog without the originals/Reimport? Does it work for books?
I rate my images with 1 star. Then I select and open them in ACR and edit. After I click "done" some of the files are no longer rated. I have to go looking the unlabeled files for the missing images. Then when I try to restar them--it won't let me give it a 1 star. I can give it another rating, and then after that it will let me rate it at a 1 star. This only occured when I switched to CS6 from CS3.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to move folders within the library in LR5. The new folder is created and the raw files are moved ok. However, xmp files are generating error messages. Also, any other files in the folder are causing the same issue. After the raw files are moved over the original folder remains in the library, although it is now empty. It can be removed from the library subsequently. Also, after checking the "new" folder in windows explorer it appears that the xmp files have been moved after all.
I'm using a Chillblast photo oc desktop with i7 overclocked at 4.5 Ghz, 32Gb of Ram, Win 8 64 bit professional. The original folder was on a fast SSD scratch disk and was being transferred to a 1TB RAID backup drive.Problem with LR, Win 8, or file permissions? LR3, LR4, on win XP or Win 7 machines.
Using LR 4.4 on OS X 10.7.5
I have transferred some folders from my internal drive to an external (FW) drive. Whereas most of the transfer worked fine, I had the following problems:
- one folder (at least) completely disappeared from LR. The files were moved to the new HDD (I can see them in Finder), an empty folder remains in LR under the "old" drive and there is nothing in LR at the new position.
- an empty structure remained at the location of the old files
- on some folders, I had the message "could not complete the folder move..." and only part of the pictures (or none at all) were moved.
I'm using LR 5.0 in a Windows 7/64 environment.
1. When attempting to rename a folder, why do I get this message: "The folder XYZ could not be renamed or moved."? It only happens to certain folders but not others. I may come back to that folder several days later and the problem won't reoccur.
2. When moving a group of files from one folder location to another, all but maybe one or two will move. Although I receive an error, I try moving those two again, and they move normally.
When I try to move folders or pix selected individually between my hard drive and external drive withing Lightroom 5 an error message pops up unable to copy to destination...

I have Lightroom place images in folders on import according to date taken, e.g. 2011 -> 12 -> 31 -> 2011 12 31_001.jpg.
Since importing a lot of images, I have changed their metadata dates due timezone issues or camera dates set wrong. So a photo imported in 2011->12->31 actually now belongs in 2012->01->01. How do I get Lightroom to automatically go through my whole catalogue and move them? I don't mind if all my files get renamed. I though of removing them all from my catalogue and the re-imprting, but won't that lose all my edits?
I have LR 3.5 on my windows desktop and my laptop . I have 4 folders on my laptop with many edits to the photos. I need to copy to folders, photos, and edits from my laptop to the LR on my desktop. I'd like to get them into the LR on my desktop with the original photo as well as the edits as oppossed to exporting the edited photos. I've done this before and forgot how to do it. How to copy everything to my desktop?
View 1 Replies View Related1. I have a number of folders where the photo's where stored on my Mac HD. I then moved these folders to a new location on an external HD. I re-imported these folders into Lightroom and they showed up under the external HD. However, all of the colour coding/ratings and even the adustments I have made to the images are not visibible. Is there a way I can correct this?
2. I've also imported a number of folders to Lightroom that were originally colour coded/rated in Bridge and edited in Adobe Camera RAW. Again the edits that I made to these and the ratings info is not visible. Is there a way I can change this?
3. Is there a way to search for duplicates within a particular folder or within the whole library?
I prefer using multiple catalogs rather than 1 large one, as I prefer to organize via event/date. The issue I've encountered is, that every time I create a new catalog, I have to reenter my information on the flickr plugin, and assume that all the plugins work this way. So simply, is it possible to enter the login info the 1 time, and have it load for every catalog? The other option I can explore if there is no simple fix for this issue is to edit the existing flickr plugin, the biggest issue with this however is that the 1 in SDK 5.0 is now outdated/unuseable and the plugin installed is a single file and not multiple editable lua files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn ##backed up and restoring a PSE6 catalogue from an XP based PC to my Vista based laptop I chose the Restore to New Location / Maintain Existing Folder Structure option and both the catalogue files and the picture files were successfully created in my main Pictures folder. The new catalogue was recognised in PSE6 and all files and thumbnails seemed to be connected. However, in retaining the original folder structure I had inadvertently created a lot of unwanted subfolders from the old XP address and the cataloguing info was not in the default /Program Data location where my other catalogues reside. I therefore decided to first move the cataloguing files, and tried to use the Catalogue / Move command for the purpose, thinking, erroneously as it turned out, that this would move only the cataloguing files, and I could then eliminate the unwanted subfolders in my picture file structure by a subsequent drag and drop approach in PSE6.
Catalogue / Move process as to a destination folder for the move, as it never asked, but it seems as though both cataloguing and picture files were moved by the command to the Vista default /Program Data location. I'm not sure whether I asked to make the catalogue available to all users or just myself when asked, but think it was probably the latter. The move resulted in all of the thumbnails in the catalogue becoming disconnected from the picture files, and I then carried out a Reconnect All process which has worked for all but a handful of files.
The problem is that whilst I can see the picture folders I've moved in the Folder View within PS6, and most seem connected to the catalogue thumbnails, I cannot find them, or indeed the /Program Data folder that they sirt inside, by searching outside of PS6. It is as if they don't exist, or are hidden from Windows Explorer. All of the old picture folders have also disappeared when I look at the Folders View within PS6, except for those that contained the few picture files that are now disconnected (and these are greyed out). I could try to drag and drop the new folders back to Pictures within PS6, or try to delete the catalogue and files entirely, and begin the restore process again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I move pictures without losing history (exposure changes, crop changes, etc)? I have LR4 and am using DNG files. No matter how I move files (move the folder within LR, move the folder than then re-sync in LR, etc) it always loses the History. I've searched and have found numerous "tutorials" on how to properly move files but can't seem to be able to keep the History along with it (I get the last state of the image, but not the actual history itself).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI notice that when viewing by rating (1, 2, 3, stars...) the program defaults to viewing the rating you choose and above. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on image in a collection that I created. I give image 4 stars and a color when I'm done working on them in the Development module. After opening the Preset and using some of them, as soon as I was giving a star rating to an image, I was automatically brought to the next image - which is not the normal behavior of Lightroom. So, I close the Presets "module" and re-clicked my Collection and then it stopped. It's hard to re-create a problem like this. But this is the only thing I've done differently and I've been retouching over 500 images without encountering this problem before.I'm working with the latest Lightroom 5 version.

If I right clik on a LR4 folder with a ?, and try to locate the folder, I only get the option to merge the identical folders. Is there any way to sort this. I can't restore the old folder names.
