I have searched my entire library for a particular keyword. The results are onscreen now and number several hundred shots. I now want to show just the jpg versions and ignore the cr2. Can I filter the results somehow?

It was possible in LR2 (if I remember it correctly) and after LR3 the feature has been gone and looks like it's still not possible. Long, long, keyword hierarchy. Clicking on a keyword takes the focus back up to the keyword filter box. Usually happens if I've used the filter box to narrow down the keywords that are visible. Continues even after the filter box has been cleared. Doesn't happen all the time though. It is a real pain when trying to double click a keyword to edit it as the first click or the double click causes the list to refresh showing only the top entries. The second click (of the double click) then causes whatever keyword is now under the pointer to be keyword to be edited - NOT the keyword under the pointer when I started the double click.
I've seen this happen in both LR3.0 and LR3.2RC.

I'm new to LightRoom and am glad to have found this great resource. Onto the issue at hand:
An ongoing office project is using LR3 to catalog 30 years' worth of images gathered from various media. Some are scans of slides, negatives, or prints; others are images straight from a digital camera. We have three people working on this cataloging project. The lead guy has created keywords on his computer that he uses to tag these images. Is there any way to make sure the keywords he's using on his machine sync with and are available to the other users of the image catalog? If not, is there a file that would have to be shared among the three users to make that functionality happen?

If I am in Library module, select filter Metadata, select Keywords from dropdown (no other filter panels selected), and start to scroll down the list of keywords, I can select keywords by mouseclick, and see the matching photos as thumbs in the main window.
However as I scroll further down, I can no longer select keywords - the mouseclick no longer highlights or selects. This happens rather incosnsistently - by which I mean, the point in the eyword list where the select stops working is not always the same place in the keyword list.
If I click several times on the same non-selecting keyword, LR4.4 jumps to taking 50% (exactly) of processor time (shown in task manager) , and the memory usage climbs steadily until all free RAM is consumed.
This is a small (~8000 image) catalogue, with ~2500 keywords, entirely non-hierarchical.
The catalogue is set to optimise on backup, weekly.
I've tried deleting and recreating the preferences file btw to no avail
I'm using Lightroom 5.2RC. Not sure if this started happening with the 5.2RC version or if it's been an issue for a while.
While in Library mode, when I choose a library search filter preset, say all 5 stars, and then toggle the filter off and on again, the search criteria randomizes to something wildly different than what I was just searching for, for example, adding text and metadata to the search queries when I only had star attributes selected a few seconds before.
I've experimented with turning the filter lock icon on and off and that seems to have no effect. Switching between folders in my catalog and toggling search off and on, results in the same random search criteria being generated.
Lightroom 4.2 – the situation is this, I have a number of pictures of group shots with many people. I tag each person in each photo. I show my photos to these people and they would like a print of photos with them in it. I am an amature photographer currently located in India where most people have no cameras, so I normally oblige if someone wants my of them pictures printed. On one such occasion I took a week long trip with some friends.After showing them the pictures I tagged “Print for Raju”, “Print for Priya”, “Print for Varun”. The problem arises now when I try to search keywords in the “contains all” section, “print for varun” doesn’t do an exact search. Rather if Raju wanted a picture of Varun printed, that picture would have the tag “Varun” and “print for Raju” and which would make the photo included in my search “print for varun” even if varun doesn’t want the picture.
Is there a way to search EXACTLY what I type? If my picture has 15 tags, “contains all” will search all those tags and if it can piece together the three words I am searching for out of all of the tags, it will reveal results inconsistent with my desires.I realize now that I could use collections instead of tags for compiling pictures to print for people.
#LR4 catalog:createKeyword creates a keyword inside another keyword even though the 4th parameter (parent) in the call is nil. LR3 API doc says .. 'nil to create at the top level' and thats how it worked. Looking forward to LR4 SDK documentation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used multiple versions of Lightroom (2, 3, 4, and now 5). Why can't I add keyword tags to multiple photos? I know that it can be done while importing, but I usually import a whole day's worth of pictures at one time and they don't require all the same keyword tags. The ones that are common I do add during import. I used to be able to highlight the photos I wanted to add tags to, go to the metadata and find find the list of keywords applied to those photos. Tags that were not common to all photos has an * beside them. If I wished to have one of these tags for all the selected photos I just removed the *, otherwise I added the new tag to the list.

On all my pictures each person is tagged. For my mother the Person Tag is called "mother"
I created a saved search with the criteria Person include "mother". The problem now is that also pictures are shown with my mother and other persons. But i would like only pictures from my mother without other persons. Something like... "Person is mother and not person "sister" and not person "friends" etc.
How I can clear the results in this dialogue box?

If I click on the next image over, then click back it reloads and is sharp.Is there a way to force a reload without clicking to another image and then back.When doing same on a raw file (NEF in my case) I do not have this problem.

When using the Publish function, LR sometimes publishes a number of photos with no problem, sometimes only the first one, sometimes it publishes but says the operation failed, and sometimes it behaves like mission accomplished when nothing published at all!
Can add the "keywording" panel in the Develop tab?
In my workflow, I rate or tag a photo only after I've made some PP adjustment. So, my workflow would flow better if the "keywording" tab resided in the Development tab as well. Is this possible? Can you add a panel from another tab?
Lightroom LR4 - very slow Keyword set updating 1] keyword an image with some keywords from a keyword set. Those keywords are highlighted in keyword set 2] select next image 3] wait about 4 to 5 seconds for highlighted keywords to be non highlighted.he problem with this, is that yo cannot use the keyword set to apply these keywords to the newly selected image until they are not highlighted any more.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Lightroom 4.1; 64 bit; Win7. All of a sudden my keyword list is not showing the correct number of photos to which a particular keyword is attached. It doesn't show any for some when there are a number photos with that particular keyword (although it also does not show "0"). For other keywords, it dispolays a number but it is incorrect (apparently always a lower number than actually applicable. I do not seem to be using a filter that might reduce the number.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've built up an extensive heirarchial keyword list in one of my catalogs. I want to export that list to use in other catalogs. I see how you export the keyword list and I get a text file, however, settings applied to each keyword doesn't seem to get exported (i.e. the settings for "Include on Export", "Export Containing Keywords" and "Export Synonyms"). I spent a lot of time building the list such that only the leaf-level keywords get exported to my image. However, when I export my keyword list from one catalog and import it into a new catalog, those settings are lost. Is there a way to export those settings as well? I could create keyword sets, but that would be another time consuming endeavour.

I wanted to work on the photos of Day 3. When I entered "Day 3" in the find box, days 1 and 2's photos also appreared. I jumped on the net and read on a site not to use spaces. Question: How would you have tagged Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 in the key words?

1) Displaying Keywords for a photo - In PSE, the properties panel can list all the Tags associated with a photo. The only way I can see the keywords for a photo in LR is to go to the keywords list, expand all the sub levels and look for check marks. Is there a simpler/easier way?
2) Displaying a photo for a keyword - I have a keyword which has a count of 1 against it. If I try to filter by that keyword (by clicking the right arrow next to the count) nothing is displayed. I tried making a collection with just the keyword specified and it contains one photo but again nothing is displayed. I suspect that it might be something to do with version sets brought over from PSE but I've tried unstacking everything and still can't find the photo.
We use lightroom to edit our pictures (about 25.000 pictures a week).We have a deep archiving system which uses a thesaurus (controlled vocabulary list if you like)That deep archiving system picks up the embeded metadata we enter in lightroom.
For the keywords however, we need lightroom to be able to import an .xml file provided by that professional deep archiving system on a regular basis (weekly ?)
There is a plugin available here URL.... but it does not seem to work .I tried contacting the author but I got no response.
