Xara :: How To Create Rectangle With Correct Dimensions For Use In HD Video Menu
Jan 27, 2014
I want to create a rectangle with the correct dimensions for use in a HD video menu. It will be filled with graphic elements as well as text boxes. As referenced in the title it is for a 16x9 aspect ratio. I tried creating a rectangle 16"x9" but that looked too big.
I don't know if it is the update or not but every time I fill a rectangle with noise and create a bitmap copy and try to erase the white with Medhi eraser classic XP&GD and XDPX now stops working. I have tried this over and over with the same result, or should I say lack of a result? All I am trying to do is make a star field. This is the same basic method I used before to create animated snow..
I am currently working in a Illustrator file that is 10% of the final print size. This is because the final size is 8,9 x 5,8 meters (15 x 7 times A1). It is therefor all my sizes have to be the EXACT size. Any flaws in sizes will be 10x as big on the final print.
So I am creating 15 x 7 A1 rectangles in my composition of 891 x 588,7 millimeters. 10% of a A1 should be 84,1x59,4mm. However, when I create a rectangle by this very size, Illustrator automatically changes it to 83,961 x 59,267 millimeters. This will result in a 5 pixel blank space on the 15 side, which means 50 pixels on the final size. I, but especially my boss ( -_-' ) would like this to be 0 pixels.
How to fix this auto correction? I think it will have something to do with the millimeters to pixel correction.
I am sizing illustrator artwork to be specific pixel dimensions (ex: 294 x 76 px). I slice by "making" slice (object/slice/make). I then export by saving for web & devices. When I then preview the artwork I see the file size is 295 x 77px the wrong size by one pixel. all artwork is expanded prior to being sliced so there are no drop-shadows or effects messing with the slices sizing.
I'm using the rectangle tool but can't seem to create rectangles with different dimensions. If I select the rectangle tool and click on my layer it draws a rectangle of a fixed size. It will not let me drag the cursor to the size I want the shape.
I'm using CS5 on Windows. I created a photoshop file using the International Paper settings A4, which is 297 by 210 and 150 pixels per inch.
I've used the whole area around the document but I left around a 5mm margin around the edge of the document. When I come to print the document does not appear to be scaled correctly in the print preview, and then when I come to print on A4 paper measuring exactly 297 x 210 a large part of the image is chopped off at the bottom.
Why Photoshop seems to indicate it is a 297 x 210 file but when it comes to printing it is not scaled correctly?
My quest: if your in a different layer working on adding walls for eg. You want add a dimension to that wall. When I hit DLI, How do I make sure that the dim i just entered goes directly to the DIM layer instead of the wall layer.
Hovering over a row of thumbnails, I swap the full size photo following this code :
var photo = new Image(); photo.src = 'images/'+fileName; // parameter of the function console.log(fileName+' L= '+photo.width+' H= '+photo.height); sym.$('toile').attr({ width: photo.width, height: photo.height, src: photo.src });
The full size photo swaps, but retaining the dimensions of the first one (initially on the Edge stage).
Even more puzzling, as you can see in the following screen capture, sometimes I can get the correct photo.width and photo.height (even if it isn't correctly assigned to the 'toile' element), and sometimes those values are zero ! And I feel so lost that this seems random.
May be it has to do with loading delay, asking the width and height information before it is available ? Should I necessarily preload the images ?
I know this is a very simple task, but in Fireworks, after you draw a rectangle with the rectangle tool, all you have to do to change the dimensions of it is to go down to the Properties box and change them.
I create Layout using Inventor, save the file into AUTOCAD DWG format, and then load it to AutoCad. After I open it, the predetermine dimensions (which I select to display the dimension in Inventor) are right. However, the dimension goes wrong if I do a new measurement on the Layout using Autocad. For example, 3 inch distance could be 0.212 in AutoCad (Note I just make up the number, I just want to show the problem is not inch to mm problem), .
I have dual monitors. I have my Inventor on the left hand screen. When I click on the drop-down in the model browser, the menu which should appear on under the drop-down arrow appears on the right monitor. Pretty frustrating to have to move the pointer all the way across the screen to click the menu.
I have tried resetting the menus, toggling the model browser on/off. Nothing changes.
I cant see how to do this but there must be a simple way of doing it. Howe do I have pointed corners for the top left and top right then curved bottom left / bottom right of a rectangle that I create. I tried unlocking the shape but it still seems to do all or nothing. Am I missing something obvious?
How do I draw an stroke/line around an rectangle shape and let it be "INSIDE of the rectangle". Like in Photoshop in the stroke layer effects.
What I have so far: I am aware of the "line" option. BUT it paints the stroke OUTSIDE of the rectangle and extends its size. This is NOT what I would like to have.
I can switch and go to another graphics program, but I would like to figure it out and use XARA X1 to accomplish it. How do you apply a curl to a page sorta like this:
I have footage in the following format which I'd like to upload to Vimeo (it was shot on a basic home camcorder some years ago). What would be the best format? I have VideoStudio Pro X5 trial version.
PAL (25 fps) Microsoft AVI files 24 bits, 720 x 576, 4:3, 25 fps Lower Field First Matrox DV/DVCAM -- type 2 PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo
The Share - Upload to Web - Vimeo MPEG-4 4:3 option gives you: MPEG-4 Files 24 bits, 640 x 480, 25 fps Frame-based H.264 Baseline Profile Video: 2500 Kbps 44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps
Is this OK? Vimeo said they pillarbox all SD videos (ie. smaller than 1280x720) in order to fit them into their standard player so should I do the Vimeo HD 16:9 option for instance?
It gives you: MPEG-4 Files 24 bits, 1280 x 720, 25 fps Frame-based H.264 Main Profile Video: 5000 Kbps 44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps
I`m still using Xara X1... and am having two issues with the rectangular tool.
First, the rectangle draws on an angle, almost more like a diamond. I would like it to draw parallel to a horizon.
Second, the rectangle draw includes a linear fill. I would like to lose that parameter so that the rectangle can be a simple solid color that I can choose for myself.
I am brand new to web design and I have Web Designer 6.0. I've looked at video instructions and can not figure this out. I am trying to group a simple rectangle filled with color to some text that will make the rectangle in the background, the text in front, and be one object. It says choose both objects and then group them, but I can choose the rectangle or the text, but not both. I know this is a simple thing to do, but I'm brand new and can't figure it out.
I am trying to create a 30" 24" poster that contains (12) 3" x 4" photos. I have resized all of the photos from 2.5MB, but the completed poster is only 850kb. I do not think that if I were to print this out to 30" x 24" that it would be 'poster quality'.
when I have the file open I noticed that at the bottom left it has (53.8MB) in parenthesis. create the correct resolution that I need to make sure this poster looks like an actual poster?
The fonts on the menu (File, Edit etc) are way too small in comparison with other programs on my desktop. Is there a way to enlarge them? Adjusting the screen resolution is not an option. I have noticed this with previous version of Xara that I have used. How to do this if it is not in the program settings?
I want to may a small flyer for a party. i want to start a new file. what size do i make my file to fit on a 4 x 6 card, or a card the size of a post card?
i have been able to print these sizes but sometime things get cut off the edges. if i knew what size to start with i could fit everything on the flyer.
