Xara :: How To Group Rectangle Filled With Color To Some Text
May 6, 2012
I am brand new to web design and I have Web Designer 6.0. I've looked at video instructions and can not figure this out. I am trying to group a simple rectangle filled with color to some text that will make the rectangle in the background, the text in front, and be one object. It says choose both objects and then group them, but I can choose the rectangle or the text, but not both. I know this is a simple thing to do, but I'm brand new and can't figure it out.
I made a red rectangle and then positioned white text over it. I'd like to repeat that a dozen or so times in the image, just changing the text.
I assume I need to 'group' the text and rectangle so that I can move them together (I don't want to have to repeat the tricky positioning every time). And then just edit the text - but so far it's eluded me!
I'm using PSP8 but hopefully the approach is similar in later versions.
Even better, any script I could download that would make this sort of 'boxed label' simpler?
what I do, my text box will not come to the front of my color-filled box. Is this a pc bug? I am used to working on Illustrator with a mac and experience little problems. I am using CS5 with Windows 7.
I have Photoshop CS and I am not sure how to create a rectangular box (in the corner of a photo) with a black border of about 3px, and the inside of the box should be colored in an orange-yellow gradient.
Then I want to create another rectangular box (in a different corner of the same photo), again with a black border of about 3px, and the inside of the box should be a straight white.
I have tried it using the rectangular marquee tool and then going to Edit | Stroke (3 px), but the border itself is colored orange/yellow. I click the gradient tool and that part seems OK, but I end up with an orange/yellow gradient framed by a yellow border - and not a black one.
The file we generated is on the right side of the image, in both PREVIEW and OUTLINE views. You can see that letters "I" in the logos are boxes and the bottom horizontal stripe is a filled box. In the art file they received, the capital letters "I" in the art and the horizontal box have become paths with DASHES applied.
I'm coming from paint.net, which is bloating tif images to the extreme......I work on tif's for work (engineering revisions) as well as multi-page tifs.Needless to say, I need to get up to speed on Gimp as fast as possible, as work places don't like a learning curve The image editor used by others is atrocious.
I see the Gimp will open multi-page tifs, but how do I save them back as multi-page? Or is this not possible?
And how do I go about drawing a filled rectangle? A good deal of my work is digitally "whiting out" things on technical drawings. I see the brush tool, but not a filled rectangle.
I am trying to get this done since last few days but could not
Ok here is the problem, I need a rectangle see attached file with different RGB colors at all four corners and also middle. I have mentioned the RGB on the image.
I have shape with a 'single tile' bitmap fill and the bitmap is smaller than the shape (which is what I need) but I want the fill of the shape not taken up with the bitmap to be white, however this is defaulting to transparent. I've gotten around this by cloning the shape, setting the fill to flat white and placing it behind the original (bitmap filled) shape. This works fine but is there a way to do this without resorting to this second copy?
I'm having a problem with Adobe Illustrator CC 17.1.0 with colors, types and groups.
If I select a text or a group and try to change its color, the Fill color stays correct a the panel, but the text or the group maintains the old color, like the screenshot below.
The only way to change color its is selecting all text characters or all group's elements.
I need to center-align a rectangle to a group/block object (also it's midle), how do I do that? Can I create/insert a grip or snap point in the midle of the group/block object?
I don't know what I did but the text now always defaults to a line color. I can change the color but I don't want a line around the text period! How do I set the default back to no line color at all?
I am working on an animated gif, and so with bitmaps, to which I am adding text in Xara. All of the text that I create seems to want to be gray. I have tried changing transparency, I have tried setting my default color, and changing the color of the text.I have also checked to make sure that the text is not set to transparent. If I select the text, and then the transparency tool, it shows "No transparency", and the transparency is set at 0 percent. It is interesting that, if I move the percent transparency above 0 percent and then back down to 0 percent, it changes to "None" in stead of "No transparency". Is "None" the same is "No transparency"?
I have this north arrow that is not working in a clients drawing. Look at this drawing with the block in it and determine why the arrow head is filled in the block editor but not filled in the drawing (model space)???
I have the banner image attached and at: www_dot_1stopbeverage_dot_net
There is two pieces of the image that were never colored in (one looks like an onion and one an olive) that are in the skewer that is laying along the top of the glasses.
I cannot get these colored right. Have tried paint brush and others, but the edges will not take to color.
I've noticed that when I use the color picker and then go to the color selection menu, sometimes the color shows up in the color history as only filling the upper left diagonal of the box and the lower right diagonal appears to be transparent.
why this happens and whether I can/should convert the color to filling the entire history box?
I'm drawing some objects in illustrator and when I stroke it, it's clear that the color is not staying or not matching the object. I took a picture of it.. I drew a lot, but this is the first time that it is happening.
As I remember somewhere read that there is some way of it without ungrouping, however now reading the Designer Pro help it seems that is needed
To add more objects to a group
Select the group. Ungroup ("Ctrl + U") Select the extra objects. Group again ("Ctrl + G")
Basically this group is a repeating object on several pages so maybe would not touch that with ungrouping, but of course if there will be no other choice
I cant see how to do this but there must be a simple way of doing it. Howe do I have pointed corners for the top left and top right then curved bottom left / bottom right of a rectangle that I create. I tried unlocking the shape but it still seems to do all or nothing. Am I missing something obvious?
I am having trouble in changing the color of the bullets without changing the text color. Problem is I cannot select/highlight just the bullet so any new color selected applies to the whole line including bullet and text. I am using DP v 7.
If I have some items that are grouped. In XDP6, I used to be able to double-click on one part of it and edit the colors etc. If text was grouped, then you could double-click on the text and edit that.
Well, in XDP7, if you double-click on a part of grouped objects, you are now taken to another page called 'Edit Inside...'
I don't want to be taken to another page because the things I wanted to be able to see at the same time are on the original page.
Is there a way of stopping this annoying 'Edit Inside..' page opening up?
Is there an easy way that I am missing to create lines around a group? For example, when I want a rectangle with rounded corners on only one side, I usually just make 2 separate rectangles, one with rounded corners, one square, then group them together. However, when you put a line around it it also makes a lines where the two meet each other. I have always worked around it by adding another square rectangle between the 2 with no lines, to cover up the lines. Am I missing something obvious?
How do I arrange a shape within a group forwards or backwards? I can select the shape in the Page & Layer Gallery, but I cannot drag it higher or lower in the hierarchy. I simply want to move a shape within a group so that it is behind another shape.
