I don't know what I did but the text now always defaults to a line color. I can change the color but I don't want a line around the text period! How do I set the default back to no line color at all?

I endlessly find that I have text line objects which I later wish had been proper text areas (because I want to control the size of their bounding box, for example).
Is there any sensible way to convert a text line object into a text area object - it's a bore to do it by creating a new text object and then cutting and pasting the text, and it is seemingly a trivial thing for the software to do automatically.
Alternatively, is there an option (perhaps a hidden one) to have all text objects created as areas rather than lines?
Is it still possible in Xara Designer pro V8 to set the right mouse button to choose the line color? Now you get a popup menu if you click the right mousebutton.

How do I control which colors appear in the color line that scroll across the bottom of the window. The only colors that currently appear are shades of reds/purples and yellows/greens. If I scroll across from left to right the same colors just keep repeating themselves. There are no shades of gray or blue. Can I somehow preset the colors that appear or do I have no control over what colors scroll across the bottom.

I am working on an animated gif, and so with bitmaps, to which I am adding text in Xara.All of the text that I create seems to want to be gray. I have tried changing transparency, I have tried setting my default color, and changing the color of the text.I have also checked to make sure that the text is not set to transparent. If I select the text, and then the transparency tool, it shows "No transparency", and the transparency is set at 0 percent. It is interesting that, if I move the percent transparency above 0 percent and then back down to 0 percent, it changes to "None" in stead of "No transparency". Is "None" the same is "No transparency"?

I am trying to group a simple rectangle filled with color to some text that will make the rectangle in the background, the text in front, and be one object. It says choose both objects and then group them, but I can choose the rectangle or the text, but not both. I know this is a simple thing to do, but I'm brand new and can't figure it out.

I go to open a drawing; drawing opens fine and views fine for a second, but then everything changes to viewing Color 9.... I am able to select a line or a piece of text and change it to any color imaginable but it always stays color 9. Although I am able to create a line and have it the correct color, it is just everything that had been existing in the current drawing at the time...
I have tried shademode, which if I put it into a 3d wireframe views fine in modelspace... but it always is going back to the 2d wireframe visual style that is the problem...
I cannot seem to find any problems with the drawing... I have run audit and purge all, I open backed up files and autosaves, all doing the same thing... I even had someone else open the drawing with the same occurence...

My question is, I would like to get some more Line Galleries...I am particularly looking for a rope design but, would be happy to buy lots of others if I have too! I saw the chain design that came with the initial download.
Sometimes when I use the freehand or shape tool to outline an object I want to cut out it doesn't turn black. I have magnified the objects before looking for a possible break in the line but don't ever find one. So I usually just end up reloading the photo and usually have success which is a pain.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm messing around with shapes and bevels and I have this shape (attached .xar file) that is basically two lines - I need one of them erased! I don't really care if it's the top line or the bottom one. No this isn't actually two lines, or that would be easy (well it would be draw a rectangle over it and clip it several times, right? But no, this is a shape, so when I draw a rectangle, and try to slide it, it does two things - 1) it does slice the shape, but leaves behind lines or 2) completely removes the original shape and leaves only the (now weird shaped) rectangle. Why is it not saving automatically to my library so that I don't have to keep creating the same custom line over and over again?

I follow the tutorial in the Xara Help, but cannot get the results shown. I draw the circle, compose the text, and set it to the middle Select both circle and text Arrange/Fit Text to Curve....the text appears around the lower, right side of the cirle After all this I am unable to manipulate the text (It's a piece of cake to do this in Publisher 2010, but it has some minor problems in appearance)
I'm trying to write a lisp routine to create a two line MLEADER but i can only get one line of text. Creating the MLEADER manually from the command line i just have to hit enter after the first line of text to add a second line. How would i do this in a lisp routine?

This layer is styled so that all text is centered. In this case, FDO_LAYER2 is having it's text left aligned. I'm pretty sure this is due to the method I am using for a new line. Is there something else I can use to break the line and maintain the center styling?
Using a second point for FDO_LAYER2 is not an option.
Basically I got a process which is quite long , let's say 30 seconds.
I want put a counter at command line showing to
user how many objects has been processed so far. But I don't want to use New Line Feed to change the line and keep each new number at same line and same location of command line.
Is it possible to change the alignment of text within a text area?
By default the text is located top left. Horizontal justification can make this top center or top right, but how about bottom left / center / right or even middle left / center / right?
