For the sake of a clean test: I create a new doc, using the New Document Profile: Print.
Select Rectangle Tool, click on artboard, type in 300px for width. ENTER.
In inches, it measures as 4.1667in. Why?
I expect it to be precisely 1in.
Also, if I punch in 300pt, it comes out to be 4.1667in as well.
I want to create a rectangle with the correct dimensions for use in a HD video menu. It will be filled with graphic elements as well as text boxes. As referenced in the title it is for a 16x9 aspect ratio. I tried creating a rectangle 16"x9" but that looked too big.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a customer who wants his drawings in imperial units. (They're American bless 'em). Normally I'd just draft it in millimeters (so no issue with block scaling) and then overwrite the dimensions manually. But just for a laugh I thought I might try doing it in imperial from scratch.
I understand all the scaling and units issues, but exactly how do you enter the required imperial dimensions in the command line? For instance, if I have enabled architectural and inch units at 1/16" precision, do I have to calculate and enter 1'-6-3/16" in decimal inches (ie 18.1875)? or is there some way of entering
Also, is this true of all imperial style options?
What about having two sets of dimensions - i.e. is it possible to draw and dimension something in metric mm then add a second set of dimensions scaled to 1/25.4 in imperial units?
This is probably quite simple but the answer eludes me. What I want to do is to create a borderless coloured rectangle (which I can do!), then drag text over it and cut the text out so it leaves the original rectangle with transparent text if you know what I mean.
I can easily do this in PS with the magic lasso but obviously I lose the quality when re-importing it back into AI.
Can this be done in illustrator scripting??

creating a rectangle around selected object or objects and set margins...
Any quick tips to convert an expanded appearance rounded rectacngle back to a sharp cornered rectangle?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using the rectangle tool but can't seem to create rectangles with different dimensions. If I select the rectangle tool and click on my layer it draws a rectangle of a fixed size. It will not let me drag the cursor to the size I want the shape.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this is a very simple task, but in Fireworks, after you draw a rectangle with the rectangle tool, all you have to do to change the dimensions of it is to go down to the Properties box and change them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try entering a X/Y coordinate or enter the opacity number, when I try to type example 58, I type the 5 first then the 8 but it types it in as 85 putting the text infront
Also, when I type in the coordinates and want to delete the decimal place example, 23.756 to 24, I try clicking in the place and hitting backspace or highlighting the 3.756 and entering 4, it will hurry and highlight everything so when I backspace it delets all or when I enter the 4 it will highlight all and put the 4 so my object flys to another part of the art board.
I'm currently running AI CS6. In previous releases, when I wanted to start entering text at a certain point (with the regular type tool) I would position the I-beam at the vertical line where I wanted to start, and with the little horizonal line of the I-beam on the horizontal line where I wanted to start, and click. But in CS6, that click seems to position the text on the left-most dotted line surrounding the I-beam, rather on the I-beam itself. Is there some parameter I can set so that the I-beam determines the starting point of text? Or do I just need to adjust my thinking to a different way?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have created a polar grid in illustrator with many sections. I want to be able to enter text in every section of the grid and not just along the path lines. How do i create text frames so each grid section within the polar grid is separate and therefore allows me to click on it and enter text. I would also like to change the colour of all the polar grid sections individually. I think it might have something to do with threaded text but not sure.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have a path that turned out to be a litt ethicker than it needs to be.
I see that I can expand a path with Offset Path. I have read online that you can contract a path by entering a negative number, but when I try that, it ignores the minus sign and expends the path instead.
Is there some other way to contract the path?
I've had this problem before, and it randomly popped up again today.
This time restarting Ai fixed the issue the first time. I just don't know if this was human-error/setting on my end, or a minor bug to report.
So I create a CMYK Ai doc. Create some black text and/or shapes. Then decide to change color to rich black by manually entering CMYK values (in this case, 60, 40, 40, 90), select ok. However, the colors revert back to original percentages (75, 68, 67, 90).
In past versions, it's happened once or twice, and restarting Ai didn't solve the first time.
I have a image with white background that I need to print and then cut with a scisor.
The problem is that as the background is white I don't know where to cut, so I can I make a rectangle, like a border, with just a line, so when I print it, I can know where to cut it.
Is there any easy way in Photoshop CS3 or later Extended to create "dotted or Dask" rectangles? I am talking about the border of the rectangle to be "dotted or dash" line rather usual line? If there is any Action script (free) that will be fanatic.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got my code to create a rectangle just fine, however i've noticed it doesn't take "Z" coordinates at all. I've got through the code and found my issue to be at these lines;
BlockTableRecord btr = (BlockTableRecord)tr.GetObject(db.CurrentSpaceId, OpenMode.ForWrite);using (Polyline pline = new Polyline()){ pline. Add VertexAt (0, new Point2d(LowerLeft.X, LowerLeft.Y), 0.0, 0.0, 0.0);pline.AddVertexAt(1, new Point2d(UpperRight.X, LowerLeft.Y), 0.0, 0.0, 0.0);pline. Add VertexAt(2, new Point2d(UpperRight.X, UpperRight.Y), 0.0, 0.0, 0.0); pline.AddVertexAt(3, new Point2d(LowerLeft.X, UpperRight.Y), 0.0, 0.0, 0.0); pline. Closed = true;btr.AppendEntity(pline);tr.AddNewlyCreatedDBObject(pline, true); }
I need to use a Point3d in order to add "Z" but apparently the pline.AddVertexAt only allows for a Point2d.
I just want a one point thick border rectangle with nothing filled. I tried using the rectangle marquee and stroke. Doesn't work. I tried the rectangle tool and rasterized, it disappeared.
Using PS CS 3.
I would like to create a rectangle with only 2 rounded corners. The other 2 corners I would like to leave 90 degrees.How would you do this in Xara?

I Got Face from HoleFeature.
I Got Face like this.

I am having lots of difficulty with this. I'm trying to create a rectangle that is transparent with rounded corners but I need the rounded rectangle outlined. Now I know how to create a rounded rectangle what I am doing for that is the following;
creating an image, selecting add alpha chanel, then selecting rounded rectangle, invert then cut.
The problem is I need the rounded rectangle outlined. When I try to use the paintbrush with stroke it outlines the image but when I go to save it it saves the whole image including the cut corners.
In essence. I just want to make a rounded transparent rectangle. Then have it outlined. This would be for a web page.
Is there a way to create a fixed size selection rectangle that I can use whenever I want to take a selection from a larger image? Currently, I'm am doing this by trial and error and it's not fun.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to create simple shape for rectangle such that its dimensions are selected from the block table. For that purpose, I have constructed the required constrains (geometric and dimensions) and then a “block table” (attached).
As I tested the behavior to have 1X2 rectangle (attached), I got a rotated one (attached)!-
I don't know if it is the update or not but every time I fill a rectangle with noise and create a bitmap copy and try to erase the white with Medhi eraser classic XP&GD and XDPX now stops working. I have tried this over and over with the same result, or should I say lack of a result? All I am trying to do is make a star field. This is the same basic method I used before to create animated snow..

Let not the one who says it can't be done interrupt the one who is doing it.
I am using Inventor 2012. Is there any way to create jogged dimensions such as the ones in the attachment? I am able to do this in our current CAD system but now I need to do this in Inventor.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a PDF/X-1a that is exactly the size (dimensions) of the .xcf file (15x12in.). There are two ways to do this that I have found at this point. Export does save the correct size, but I can't find a way to change to the x-1a format, or print to PDF which does save the correct format but doesn't save the correct size. When printing to PDF I go into Preferences>Adobe PDF Settings and change the Default Settings to PDF/X-1a and change the Adobe PDF Page Size to 15x12 (custom created page size). When it prints the PDF ends up as an 8 1/2 X 11 file.
Two notes:
1. When I go to Page Setup in Gimp I cannot set a custom page size .
2. The only reason I need the X-1a format is because when I export to a standard PDF the ink density for the black goes above the 240% limit that I need for the printers. If I could find a way to get the ink density results I need without saving in the X-1a format it would be just as good.
I'd like to either use Grid view sorted by dimensions, or create a Collection based on dimensions. I can do this in Adobe Bridge, but thought Lightroom would add functionality to this.
