I just got CorelDRAW X5 a few days ago. Until then, I had never drawn anything on a computer..Suppose I use the rectangle tool to create a box. How can I remove one of the edges ? That is, how do you remove a line-segment from a filled-object ?
I'm not sure if this is what it is called, but how do I create the ladder style like the red decal in the pic below? I am trying to update our decals a little bit, and I cannot figure out how to do this like in the pic. I'm using CorelDraw X4.
I would like to know how to create the shadow effect as pointed with the red arrow, if this design is to be printed to 2 spot color (Orange 021 C and Black)
I am trying to create a logo that looks like it is branded into a piece of wood. I created my logo, powerclipped a darker image of the wood inside, created an embossing effect with a lighter and darker version offset from the main logo. Now I would like to "roughen" it up a bit to look more natural - following the woodgrain, and more "burnt in".
I use the default page very unusal way by keeping the width & height with max. page size. I need your favour as if i want to A4 page border i am going back again and choose a4 page and double click on the rectangle to achieve it and again i choose by max. page.
create a a4 page border, or any preferred size for executing them using shortcut while keeping my max. page size.
I am trying to do a fancy rectangle box 183mm width and 91mm high, in the centre is a clock face 93mm in diameter, and i want to have a nice curve effect as i have tried t to show in the about terrible sketch, making them look like shoulders.
I am trying to do this tutorial: [URL]....... but I have a trouble at Step 3 : Creating Web Header - rather: Now go to the " Shape Tool ", double click on the bottom middle line to create a custom node / corners.
We have problems with some fonts, they display as rectangles on screen but prints just fine. Tested on both a W7 and a XP computer with all patches/updates installed. The same fonts displays fine in other applications...
I tried to apply a transparency to a beveled rectangle and was unsuccessful to get any effect to apply. Tried to make the bevel first and then apply transparency and vice-versa, a transparent rectagle and tried to do bevel effect. Neither way would work.
Don't they play nice together, or do I have to try it in PP?
I like my coreldraw x4. This sign shop actually has a copy of x5 but it was so so so so awful that we had to take it off of the computer.
I am having more and more problems opening pdf's. I end up with a rectangle with a line across the corner. I'm assuming the people sending have newer adobe than what x4 can handle? I can open the pdf;s in adobe reader but only give option to save as pdf. I just looked and it says PDF VISTA . Is there a way to save them as an older one? Kind of how corel draw can be saved as an older version?
And for some odd reason, on one of the computers (the one that has the email that these pdf's come from) doesn't show them with the pdf icon on the desktop. It has the green corel draw icon instead.

I have just upgraded from X4 to X6 and found that when using the paint tool, the cursor disappears at the end of the action, and appears again when the cursor is moved again. This happens when the user interface setting is set to 'Shape cursor for brush tools".
More of a concern for me is when the Eyedropper tool is set to 'Select sample', (the one I always use), no rubber rectangle is drawn to show the area that is being sampled. That is, it is supposed to draw a dynamic rectangle in a similar way that the rectangular mask tool selects an area with a rectangle changing size with movement of the cursor. The eyedropper samples the correct pixels, but does not draw the enclosing rectangle.I have tried running it in all comparability modes except for 256 color and 640 x 480 resolution, which aren't options for me.
X4 didn't exhibit these problems so I can't understand how it can't be a bug, especially since the rectangular mask tool draws the rubber-banding rectangle without a problem. At this point would be preferring to be using X4.
If I covert a font or shaped image under Bitmaps=>Convert to Bitmaps, I get a white solid background. In Corel x5 this would be a clear background. Also I can no longer Cover to Bitmap a photo then open with bitmap editor to create rectangles or ovals with clear faded edges. These are items I use all the time. How do I achieve this now. Also x6 will not save in x5 version. It will warn me of potencial problems then fail.
I got a new MAC OS X 10.6.2 last spring and installed the CorelDraw 11 that I've used for several years on my other MACS. When I try to use a bitmap effect from the drop down menu (like 3D effects, art strokes, creative, contour etc...) the boxes do not open. I've tried reinstalling the application and it didn't work. I was always able to use these effects on my other computers. Every other menu item I use works. I wish Corel would make something new for MACs
How do you get rid of a lens effect? I've looked throughout the program and cannot find how to get rid of the stupid lens. I want the object to be solid.
I have used Corel X3 on a XP & Vista machine with the Draw stitch Embroidery Effect plug-in. However, when I install it on Windows 7, the Embroidery Effect is not showing up in Corel, even thought both programs seemed to install successfully.
I am playing with this at the minute but thought I would upload an image I am having trouble with. Learned 'flattening' with effects on top of other images - my problem this time is that we need a ghosted part of an image - my boss has done a 'glow' rectangle but i cannot 'flatten' it as it is sitting on top of a vector image!
I am going to try and split the vector image and fill it with a fountain fill but unsure if this can be done.
I would like to add a grungy/ distress effect to an image but I would also like some grungy smudges outside of the image as well.....how can I achive this
I have been trying to learn the chiseled effect on Discovery Center the video tutorial the girl voice came so distorted that I decided to look up the written version .In the step 3 they ask to Arrange Combine but Combine does not light up
So I powerclip a duplicate of a background image into a text, and would like to create a bevel effect on the text, like this..But I couldn't find out how to do it.When I choose the text with the powerclip image, the bevel tool is grey out so I can't apply the bevel effect.
Suppose you apply spiraling effect on the left edge of the figure (clockwise) and want to reproduce the same effect, but with the same intensity on the right side of the figure (reverse clockwise) so that both effects have symmetry.Clicking on the opposite edge of the picture and select the opposite direction (changing clockwise direction in the appropriate button) does not necessary mean that there will be the desired symmetry, once you can not determine how much pressure should be given to get exactly the same spirals intensity given to the left edge.
Is there any way to do it accurately? In what moment you should release mouse so that the number of turns is the same as previously established (left side)?
Is there some way to move the corner control points of the perspective effect grid via the arrow keys? I have hand problems and any time I need to move something very precisely I use the arrow keys, or risk hurting my hands. If not, would there be some way to do this with a macro? Also, is there some setting for it – other than having to hold down the shift and control keys while you click and drag, which is just a killer for me – that will arrange it in ways that are only symmetrical (where if you move one side the other side moves equally in the opposite direction)? As far as I can see, rectangular and freehand settings behave the same.
1. First question: I need to apply Mesh Fill effect to a circular vector (ring) which was built with the Combine command (Ctrl + L), but Mesh Fill is not allowed for objects combined. Is there any alternative for this?
2. Second question: How to make that mesh nodes has the circular shape of the figure (in this case, a ring)?(By clicking on the object, it creates a mesh grid and edit the nodes to obtain a circular form is very laborious and the result is not satisfactory).
I'm thinking that once the perspective tool is enable the starting/ending coordinates of the fountain fill should lock relative to the shape. What ya think?
As a work around you can position the to be perspective guide shape so the starting/ending coordinates of the fountain fill at least fall close?
If you take blend tool to gate one color to other or same or gray scale it give correct result. But if you use New color style and new gradient it show wrong effect in CMYK.
I am trying to create a rubber stamp effect over a jpg by using the following steps: URL....
When I Live Trace the below image "A" it doesn't look like the original and changes into image "B".Also, I cannot seem to extract the white from the picture after I have Live Traced it?
