I use the default page very unusal way by keeping the width & height with max. page size. I need your favour as if i want to A4 page border i am going back again and choose a4 page and double click on the rectangle to achieve it and again i choose by max. page.

we use CorelDraw for all our design and day-to-day artwork requirements, and for preparing artwork for our laser engraving machinery. We have recently upgraded to X6 and have found problems exporting to .plt.
First we noticed that a page border surrounding artwork, where we use the page border for positioning, and the art to engrave, the page border would export, but anything inside it would not. So we tried all the obvious workarounds - grouping etc, but found that the only way to get it all across was to combine the artwork.
Now we are noting that anywhere there is artwork surrounded by a closed curve - eg a rectangular block with a phone number reversed out - the art that is surrounded (eg the phone number) will not export if un-grouped or grouped, it has to be combined into one object.
I've been using Photopaint 12 for years. This seems like it should be very simple to do, but I've never found a really quick way.
All I want to do is put a single colour 1 or 2 pixel border around a load of images. I don't mind if it is inside or outside the existing image size (the choice would be nice).
I know I can simply draw an unfilled rectangle, but it's easy to drag the shape outside the edges of the image, or to end up a few pixels in, and it's quite time consuming doing it manually.
We have problems with some fonts, they display as rectangles on screen but prints just fine. Tested on both a W7 and a XP computer with all patches/updates installed. The same fonts displays fine in other applications...

Don't they play nice together, or do I have to try it in PP?

I want the border to be in foreground so that images and colored rectangulars can overlap a little. So when I put it in the foreground I cannot select the other object behind it.I cannot select other rectangulars by clicking on their filling/background but only by clicking exactly on their border.

I need to create a smooth border line the same shape of the inside of this cutting die which I have scanned......slightly small than the inside (White Part) How do I achieve this? I have tried power trace then created a boundary to make the shape but the line is uneven.
I try to control the width between the border of rectangle and the edge of the text I put inside.

I like my coreldraw x4. This sign shop actually has a copy of x5 but it was so so so so awful that we had to take it off of the computer.
I am having more and more problems opening pdf's. I end up with a rectangle with a line across the corner. I'm assuming the people sending have newer adobe than what x4 can handle? I can open the pdf;s in adobe reader but only give option to save as pdf. I just looked and it says PDF VISTA . Is there a way to save them as an older one? Kind of how corel draw can be saved as an older version?
And for some odd reason, on one of the computers (the one that has the email that these pdf's come from) doesn't show them with the pdf icon on the desktop. It has the green corel draw icon instead.

I have just upgraded from X4 to X6 and found that when using the paint tool, the cursor disappears at the end of the action, and appears again when the cursor is moved again.This happens when the user interface setting is set to 'Shape cursor for brush tools".
More of a concern for me is when the Eyedropper tool is set to 'Select sample', (the one I always use), no rubber rectangle is drawn to show the area that is being sampled.That is, it is supposed to draw a dynamic rectangle in a similar way that the rectangular mask tool selects an area with a rectangle changing size with movement of the cursor.The eyedropper samples the correct pixels, but does not draw the enclosing rectangle.I have tried running it in all comparability modes except for 256 color and 640 x 480 resolution, which aren't options for me.
X4 didn't exhibit these problems so I can't understand how it can't be a bug, especially since the rectangular mask tool draws the rubber-banding rectangle without a problem. At this point would be preferring to be using X4.
Where do I find how to change the workspace border size and color? I see no such options in TOOLS >Options > etc.

I have just had to install Windows 7 64 bit and now find that when I print to my HP Business Inkjet 2300, I can only print 1 page. If I set the quantity to 5, I still get just 1 page. HP won't be updating the driver as they say that the printer is obsolete although they are still selling it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to export a page I am creating as a jpg. Right now, I have one object on the page, and its a .jpg object. When I export from the File menu, only the jpg is exported. How can I export the entire page? If I add text to the object (which will be a banner). it only exports the jpg, and and the exact space required by the text, not the entire page. I have been unable to find setting for exporting selected objects or entire page. I have another less powerful drawing program that gives options to export object, selection, or page.
If I create a box, and place it on the document, the whole thing will export, but if the pox is larger than the page, then entire box is still exported, where I only want the page dimensions exported so I can eventually arrange objects ont he box that will overlap the page dimesnsions, but only the page area should be exported as a jpg.
Should I be doing this as a powerclip? I haven't used that feature yet in CD. Then export the powerclip object?
How come the length of a page name is limited to 31 characters? Any chance this limit can be enlarged in a service pack?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I covert a font or shaped image under Bitmaps=>Convert to Bitmaps, I get a white solid background. In Corel x5 this would be a clear background. Also I can no longer Cover to Bitmap a photo then open with bitmap editor to create rectangles or ovals with clear faded edges. These are items I use all the time. How do I achieve this now. Also x6 will not save in x5 version. It will warn me of potencial problems then fail.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have been working on this project in corel draw12 for several weeks now, as it is or/was coming to its final stages a few days ago it now only opens a blank page, it is 2.14 gb and it will get bigger as it reaches its final stages.i can still see it in preview. when it was opening it took a very long time to open i realise the reason for this is the size im using very high resolution images and designing and editing, or maybe there is another program that you may recommend that will support the size so i can complete my work.
i found a backup copy but it will not import the size is 1.70 gb seems its still too large to open ,
i don't think it has anything to do with memory , i have a full drive laptop is new. my thoughts are that corel draw will not open a file that size, and you are right about breaking it up i should have worked in several sheets but saved them desperately.

I just upgraded to x5 and can no longer export a file as an eps and hold the custom page size. In x4 I could export as an eps to a custom page size of 2.5" by 2.5". Every time I try to upload the file it is seeing it as an 8.5' by 11". I am selecting page size in advanced tab
