This issue has been an irritant for a few days and today is almost constant. When I do a quicksave the program hangs up and I get a Program Not Responding message. The panels all go white and the desktop is ghosted like there is a film across the screen and I have to wait 2-3 or more minutes for things to resolve.
View 9 Replies(AutoCAD 2008 ) I have many polylines that have been splined so many times that they have a ton of vertices, so many that my program stops working when I click on the line. I have begun to draw new lines to get rid of the slow, horrible lines, but I have come to a problem. How do I get rid of the old lines if I can't click on them without my program locking up?
I can't just turn their respective layers off because I have important things on the layers, and it would be a humongous hastle, not to mention the fact that I like a clean file with no random layers that just sit there never used.
Im looking for the setting to limit the AutoCAD to workin on 2d level only, meaning lock the Z=0,
is there a variable or command, in AutoCAD 2013 or Mechanical 2013,
FLATLAND command dont work, get a invallid error.

If Inventor is on the screen when the pc locks (win+L) Inventor will not display properly after unocking the pc. Moving the mouse around will change what is highlighted in the feature tree and things like that, but I cannot at all see the actual object I am working on. Changing from one open component to another does not work. I have to restart each time this happens. I have updated both Inventor and my display drivers to a supported version.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded a user to Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2013 but AutoCad 2013 and AutoCad MEP 2013 are not saving settings.
On first use the crosshair is large and angled, not standard. If I run "Rest values to default" then the settings are standard until I either restart AutoCAD or open a drawing then have the same strange cross hair.
Have tried creating a new profile, setting it as default startup profile by altering the shortcut but no matter what settings are not saved and revert to strange cross hair once AutoCAD is re-opened or a drawing is opening.If logon to computer as a user without a roaming profile all works fine.
I've deleted the preferences, restarted my computer, and it still quits when I'm saving. I'm in the middle of a project and need to finish.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my adobe software and I am still getting issues with saving layered files. I keep gettting program error - only occasionally. Sometimes saving to my desktop works and other times it doesnt. Other coworkers are experiencing same thing ever since they updated.
It happens when working on a layered file for any length of time and need to save it out as a layered photoshop file. We are forced to flatten and save as a tif and loose our layers. I think it has something to do with background task but not sure...
Using X6 and for some reason when i save a document as a jpg or pdf and then upload it via email attachment and or forum attachment it shows up COMPLETELY different than what the program file looks like. I design in CMYK and know monitors show RGB but i have NEVER had a issue like this when using Adobe programs but i have switched to Corel and am having this issue.What i end up having to do is take a screen shot then paste it into MS PAINT, yes PAINT and then save it as a jpg there for it to display correctly colorwise. This works for jpegs but not pdf's with multiple pages that need to be sent to my designers and printers.
The saved file looks like it should on my desktop and laptop and looks like crap on my iphone, ipad and email attachments etc on the customers end.
I have embedded the cmyk profile, tried proof colors on and off. Nothing changes it except for saving in RGB mode which throws the pdf's off as they often go directly to my printers for production.

In addition, certain areas won't hatch because the program is telling me I have open boundaries which is not the case.

If I copy and paste from one folder to the next while in the open dialog box it copy the file fine but the next time I try to open any drawing file the program goes unresponsive and crashes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of parts drawings created in LT 98 that I am now editing in LT 14. For the most part I haven't had issues. However, I have been having a big issue with the Text function. It doesn't matter if I am trying to enter new text (Multi or Single line), or if I try to edit the existing text. Either way, the program immediately locks up & will not snap out of it.

When I start up my AutoCad 2013 I get the followiing message -
"Module Program Directory does not exist> May need to reinstall" What is the MPD and how does one reinstall it? The program seems to be running OK but that msg. is a bit distrubing.
The 2013 is part of the Product Design Suite Professional and is running on a Lenovo S-30/Win 7 Pro.

When ever I try to modify a hatch from a previous version I get a fatal error message and the program shuts down. I have opened the same files in 2012 and have no problem changing the hatch patterns.

But every time I close AutCAD and re-open it again, the pull down menu's disappear!! Is there a setting.
I'm using autoCad 2013 for Mac on OS lion (Educational Version). Often when i'm working for longer periods, when I try to save my work, it will suddenly go to my desktop, and the program wont respond. My work then is lost, and I have to open the recovered file, or work from the Auto saved file, and sometimes they didn't save aswell.
My files are saved on a shared dropbox folder, with some external references. On relative paths, i've unatteched them and it still crashes. I've tried the _audit command, and that didn't work either. I've been searching with appload for the MdiTab17.arx entry and try to unload it, but I can't find that file (maybe it's a windows solution).
I had autocad 2013 but it was infected with a virus so i was obliged to install 2012 version. problem is that all my files are saved as 2013 and would not open in 2012. How to save all files at once to older version?

Even setting the sky background to 1, then 0 doesn't work. When I save, it reverts to a perspective view and turns the sun/sky back on.

I have my current install set to save the dwg down to 2010. how come the preview images are blank? its only when i save down do the images become blank. if i save in the current version the preview image is there.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo we have an HP T1100 plotter and we want all the .pc3 files on the server. I go to the plotter in my devices and printers from the start menu and I add in all my custom paper sizes. Then I create a .pc3 file that points to a system printer on my machine for that plotter. I then move the .pc3 file to the server. Next thing I do is go to .pc3 file on the server and filter out all the unneeded papers sizes (arch, jis, iso, etc.) so all that shows up in the plot dialog box are the custom sizes I created. I then re-path autocad to the server in my options. All is fine so far, everything plots fine.
Now I go to another machine and point autocad to use the folders on the server for the plotters. I go to plot and the .pc3 files are there but when I pick the paper size drop down selection, all the arch, jis, iso sheets, etc... that I filtered out are now there. Well, I can go into the .pc3 file on his machine, re-filter out all those unneeded paper sizes and all is well, but then I come over to my machine and all the unneeded paper sizes are there again. It goes back and forth. I save on one machine and then the other one is messed up.
I cannot get the unfiltered papersizes to stay that way on the .pc3 file thats on the server. Why is this? I know I have the .pc3 file pointed to a system printer on my machine but we have the same printer on each machine with the same drivers. We could just put the plotter on the server so there is no system printer but that is not an option right now.
AutoCAD 2013, 60-90 days into it, upgraded from 2007.
I have 2 of 4 workstations with this issue, AutoCAD will automtically save the file when the files is closed, w/o any prompts to verify of we want to saved or not.
I have my Options|Autosave turned off, but this should not affect the save on close it should only create a continual ac$ backup file.
This is now the 2nd time this has occured. In early March we noticed this and in dealing with AutoCAD (Suscription Service) we finally deceided to restore AutoCAD to factory defaults, which did fix the issue at the time. However it also meant that I needed to retore all the pathways and our standards. Once completed, I paid particular attention to ensuring that AutoCAD was NOT saving the file on close and it was doing so up until earlier this week, when I noticed it SAVING on close again.
Now most of you might think, hey thats a good thing, however, we routinely will test modifications to our layouts on our working files, but dont want to actually modify those files and then we would simply close the drawing w/o saving thus ensuring that those mods were not saved.
In March, both 2007 & 2013 did this, however only my 2013 is affected now.
I installed IV13 onto four of our workstations including the update 1.
Due to the size and complexity of our project we are using Vault to manage all of our parts and drawings.
We had issues with 2012 but managed to get around them. I was hoping 2013 would solve some of them but we are experiencing extremely slow performance with 2013. It takes at least 15 to 20 minutes to open and update drawings. Swopping between an assembly and IDW to do updates takes another 20 minutes to refresh and update.
This is happening on all four of the workstations.
I have come across a few forums with this same issue and I have tried setting up the options as described in them but have had no difference in performance.

I am installing AutoCAD for the first time in a lab at a high school. We have roaming profiles for each user. When I launch AutoCAD for the first time as a user, the program goes through it's first time configuration, check the "Privacy Statement" and uncheck the "Show at Start up" on the welcome box. After I log off and log back in and launch the program again, it goes through the setup again and I don't have the setting I had changed on the previous launching of the program. I think it has something to do with the roaming profiles because when I login as myself (I don't have roaming profiles) it works fine.
