I have problems with saving my drawing using the save option. I click save but when i close the drawing and reopen it i realise it didnt save at all. I actually have to 'save as' to get it saved.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD Mechanical 2013 and need to save a file as an AutoCAD LT 2008 for a friend to work in. I can only save it as AutoCAD LT 2004, is there a way for me to add AutoCAD LT 2008 as an option? If not is there a compatibility pack for him that he can download. There was a slight issue in the transfer. Im not doing anything that uses the mechanical features, just normal autocad features. The option for my computer is better if it is possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing problems with selecting objects. Usually, when I double clicked multi line text, I could edit it, now I get a text: "select an MTEXT object:", which basically means I have to select it again.
Another example of this is quick selection tool. Usually I selected the objects, then went to quick select pop up screen and under "Apply to:" I selected "Current selection". Now, there's only "Entire drawing" option and if i want current selection, I have to re-select it again.
I checked all the selection options and stuff. I attached some screenshots.
Is there a button/option which enables the drawing to fill the screen
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs many of us seam to do the option to save by default to an older version of AutoCAD or universal DXF format is selected, my problem is however when you save an existing drawing a prompt appears asking if 'Drawing*.dxf last saved in AutoCAD 2004 format. Save in AutoCAD 2013 Drawing format?' this has annoyed me for years!
I have set it as default DXF 2014 for a good reason I don’t want a prompt asking me if I want to then save it as 2013 or I would have set it like that on my default setting, gets on your nerves when you are doing 100's of files.

Whenever I save a drawing, it goes to a temp file. I have to do a 'save as' to bring the dwg back to the original folder. Our in-office guru thought it had something to do with the new AutoCAD 360, but I have never even signed in to that, and when we did open it, nothing was in it.

When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI recently started having trouble when I try to save a file. It started about an hour ago. I have been working on this file all day with no problems. What is happening is when I do a quick save or a save as I get an error that says "unable to save to drawing F:NNorthview SchoolsHS - Phase 5, 6 & 7NH-EPSF1A13.dwg. Drawing saved to F:NNorthview SchoolHS - Phases 5,6 & 7savACD.tmp"
If I do a save as It will say the same thing but it will delete the existing file that I tried to save over. I have to do another save as to get the file back. I think this is specific to this drawing because I have not had it happen with any other file.
I ran Recover on the two exref files as well as the working file. No errors are found. I have purged all the files and tried again but it did not work.
I am using Map 3D 2013 on a Windows 7 machine and am getting the following error when I try to do any save, q save or saveas: "One or more objects in this drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created."
I was working in this file yesterday and received the same error at one point. I shut CAD down and did something for a few hours before I came back and everything operated normally for a little while. I was able to make edits and save. But then this morning the error is back. Even upon opening the file and immediately trying to qsave it will give me the error. I have run an audit, purged, tried to copy everything out and save to a new file. Nothing appears to be working.
We do run network licenses and I am pulling my drawings from a server, nothing is local to my machine.
Several times, with different files, I get a message when I try to save a drawing using ctrl-S (or when clsoing an un-saved dwg);
Unable to save to drawing B: (file location folder)file name.
Drawing saved to B: (same file location folder)savD214.tmp
The only option is to click OK
Now there are several .tmp files in my job folder. I haven't tried to open them or anything else.
The original file will be lost if I close the drawing. I've had this happen when I clsoe the drawing before saving it - I'll get a message asking if I want to save the draiwng before closing it, and then I'll get this message, click OK, and the file will be gone. I have to to the .bak file, make a copy of it and change the file extension name to .dwg to get the file back.
If I get this message when I'm just doing a ctrl-S save, I immediately do a "save-as", copy over the original file name, and everything seems to be fine.

Fresh installation of Windows Small Business 2011 standard
Disabled offline and cache on shared directories
Removed the router (server and computers in "standalone", just joined by a gigabit switch 5 ports, 2m of cables between the compure and the server)
Installed latest evaluation of Autocad LT 2013
No Antivirus; firewall settings by default
The user is the only one who access to the autocad files.
Still the problem.
The user does want work on the network anymore unless the problem is solved, which is annoying because only the server has a backup routine.
I am working with an action macro to be able to use the EXPORT PDF option (save into current folder as DWG with no user input) / save the current drawing / and close.
At present i am able to get the macro to export the pdf and then (user input to directory to save and to overwrite the previous file) then save the file but cannot close the drawing.
How / which system variable to change such that the Save List As dialog box don't appear every time I click on the publish button?

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded a user to Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2013 but AutoCad 2013 and AutoCad MEP 2013 are not saving settings.
On first use the crosshair is large and angled, not standard. If I run "Rest values to default" then the settings are standard until I either restart AutoCAD or open a drawing then have the same strange cross hair.
Have tried creating a new profile, setting it as default startup profile by altering the shortcut but no matter what settings are not saved and revert to strange cross hair once AutoCAD is re-opened or a drawing is opening.If logon to computer as a user without a roaming profile all works fine.
I can't seem to save anything as a GIF file on Photoshop, not even regular ol' GIF images I haven't modified at all. It's not listed as a possible extension in the Save As window.
View 7 Replies View RelatedToday I shot some more photos and was going to send them to a friend. After I resized them, I tried to save the new file as JPEG and there was no option to do so. I even opened one of yesterday's camera files and tried to save that as a JPEG, and still didn't see the option. All I get is something called .xcf.
I looked at the tutorial, and it said to make sure the mode was set to RGB. It was; I'd never changed this. It seems I've broken something, but I don't know where to look in order to fix it.
I used to be able to open a drawing then close it right away, if it was not the drawing I was looking for, as long as I didn't pan, zoom, or do anything else. Almost a year ago I had a pop-up with-in AutoCAD that they reccommend I make this selection. I can't remember what it said really, it was something about a script or lisp loading at each drawing opening. Well, the result is the 'Drawing 1' does not disappear when I open another drawing and I would like that to stop. Also as I said it does it to every drawing. how to stop this? I tried the 'startup' command and that is not it. It is not a big thing just something I think is a waste of my time having to close that drawing each time I open AutoCAD. Not sure it matters but I am using AutoCAD 2012

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am familiarizing myself with the existing drawings here. I am working on version 08 (was previously on 07). I opened a dwg in 08 and received an error message "Newer AEC Object Detected" stating that some commands would not be available. With no other option I opened the drawing and discovered it was in metric. I went up to the Format tab as I normally would to change the Units to Architectual and discovered that there was no option to change the units. Even typing in Units in the command bar didnt do anything. It seems as if this drawing was originally created in 07 and now OPENS in 08 but you lose commands? It used to be that you couldnt even open something it was created in a older version, no? Luckily a PC in the office does have 07 and I was able to open it there to change the units over but I cant do this every time.

What is wrong with the option in the second line (shown in red)? I've tried a few other variations of All_Color_As_Black, but I'm having no joy. All the other examples I've looked at either has that option set to False (0) or that line is commented out .
i am using autocad 2013 student version at home and at college i am using autocad 2012. so when i create drawing in 2013,dosent open on 2012"it says incompatible version". i like to save all my dwg files automatically in 2011 format, i dont want to click save as and change it 2011 format.what i need is whenever i finsh working on drawing, if click save it should automatically save in 2011 format.

Then, when I switched over to paper space all of those lines were solid. I messed around with the option LTSCALE and set it to 0.01. This made the lines show up correctly in paper space, but now they are all messed up in model space. Is there an option to make it so they show up exactly the same in both model and paper space?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe above image is the closest description of what I mean by a "chord" setting. I need to be able to place lines with a specific length and orientation at a certian radius from two nonparallell curved lines. I've been finding it extremely difficult.
The blue lines are the property lines and the circles are the setbacks (hypothetically). To simplify the problem I offset the blue lines by the setback like so. which brigs me to the original problem. I need to place the building at the optimal point. So far, I have only been able to get close and I know/think there should be a better method to solve my problem. In the example I provided, I knew exactly where the building should be placed because the offsets were the last thing I drew. How can I get this result if my drawing is composed of fully drawn but nonaligned components?
