AutoCAD 2013 :: Drawing Keeps Saving To A Temp File?
Aug 1, 2013Whenever I save a drawing, it goes to a temp file. I have to do a 'save as' to bring the dwg back to the original folder. Our in-office guru thought it had something to do with the new AutoCAD 360, but I have never even signed in to that, and when we did open it, nothing was in it.

May 10, 2012We modeled parts in inches. We save as copy to an .STL file to get SLA prototypes made. The parts came back 2.54 times bigger than needed. Reason is the default setting for saving as .STL files is Centimeters.... Not sure why Autodesk did this....but yes I understand it's not their fault, we should have checked under options and changed it to inches.....we just assumed that you model in inches, it would save as in inches....See what happens when you assume....

Mar 22, 2011I am unable to use the file command open, new etc. I click on open and nothing happens no file box opens. As soon as you do anything else the program says not responding and you have to close it down. I can click on an autocad file in windows explorer and bring up the file this way but as soon as you try any file command such as save as the program freezes again. I am running windows 7 professional and the autocad LT 2011 64 bit program.

Mar 10, 2011 today i was working with the Autodesk 2011 when the first problem started with rendering, i tried to render but the image was not good, it was like the rendering process did not 100% finished but stopped.
It then become more serious since i tried to render with some different mental rays, at a point it crashed while rendering and exit the application.Next thing that happened was a crash when i tried to clone a set of objects,i got an error stating that there was not enough memory and the application has to shut down.
Then i decided to uninstall it and go with 2010 because i remeber it worked great previously. Once i did install 2010 i tried to open my 2011 file and i got this message:

May 9, 2011Has this functionality been removed in the 2011 API. What worked fine in 2010 now throws an "Error Decrypting Data" error on trying to open a drawing created with an educational version. These are student files that we are examining with an external marking program. The application can open non-educational versions without issue.

For example, the user has DWG1 open and DWG2 open and currently active, my program modifies DWG1 (inactive) and when the program tries to run...
dwg1DB.SaveAs(filename, true, DwgVersion.Current, dwg1DB.SecurityParameters)
it errors with an elock violation, even though I lock the document with dwg1DOC.LockDocument before I try to save and unlock it after.
The same code runs fine on the current document so at this time I just ended making the other document current just to save it then switch back to previously current document.
What am I missing to save a document that is open but not current?

Dec 6, 2011I'm working in Revit 2012. Everytime I save my file it just sits there and thinks. When CTRL-ALT-DEL revit is not responding so I have to end task. The file is not of abnormal size and has been functioning fine until today. I haven't done or made anything in revit out of the ordinary. When I re-open the file I get a "seek failed" message. I open the backup file just fine, but again, cannot save it without it locking up on me again. I have audited and purged. I have copied and saved a new file under a different name.

AutoCAD LT :: File Size Increases After Saving Drawing
May 23, 2013We use LT 2012, and recently we started having issues with file size.
Some of our drawings went from 1.5MB to 12MB after saving.
We tried saving as DXF then PURGE, -PURGE to reduce the size but always comes back.
Now, in one of the drawings I did PURGE, AUDIT, -PURGE and erased everything in the drawing, file is still 1.8MB.
Revit :: 2013 Will Not Open / Triangle Exclamation Error
Oct 23, 2012I just updated my computer with the latest and greatest parts and was excited to open Revit 2013 and try it out. I installed it last night and tried to open it. The splash screen appears for a second and then closes. On the first try, a yellow triangle with an exclamation popped up, it hasn't happened since. I fixed the registry with MS fix it, uninstalled it, and reinstalled it.
I read that it was not compatible with hyperthreading 8 core CPUs. I don't think this is the issue, because I do not have a 8 core CPU. I have a i7 3.5 Quad Core with Hyperthreading, 16 gigs RAM, 1 gig Graphics Card, and a Solid State Drive.

Mar 9, 2012As an engineering company we have started to convert hundreds of our drawings from AutoCAD to PDF using a batch utility.
However every file that is converted into a PDF file is opened by a PDF Viewer. We want to prevent this.
I opened my *.pc3 file and removed the check from the appropriate box. See below
I press OK, then save the file and close. However when I reopen the file, I see the box for Openining in PDF Viewer has been rechecked. No matter what I do, I cannot permanently remove the check from this box.

May 15, 2012I was wondering if there might be a way to add the option to save a selection to the disk? when i work i create many selections with complicated shapes and areas.
since i need to use them more then once i was wondering if a feature for saving only the selection can be implemented ? this would enable me to load the selections to new projects and use them there making the same "print" every time.(my work around for this is saving a B/W picture of the shape then uploading it every time i need it , then copy and paste to a new layer
in the new project then selecting the shape area then flatting the image with the selection and deleting the internal area or the invert ) its long but works.if you can add "File Open into a NEW layer", this would save the need for part of my work around. i would then just load the save to the new layer and use it directly :-)

I saw this the save/load selection feature the other day in a photoshop presentation and was shocked that it's real :-)So if such feature can be added to paint.net even in version 4.0 it would be great and time saving too.

Feb 22, 2013I'm in AutoCAD 2013. I've been working on a drawing everyday (was just working on it yesterday), but can't open it now. I just get a blank gray screen when I open if from within AutoCAD. When I open it from my computer drive while AutoCAD is closed, AutoCAD opens and I get "Drawing1.dwg." I've tried the RECOVER command, but I don't get a response. I tried RECOVERALL command which let me choose a file to recover, but it responded saying it could not recover the drawing.
