Jun 10, 2012I had resized the File>Open dialog in Inventor. I had resized it so that it was quite large so I realized pretty quickly when I opened another file, that the window size had rest to its original size.
What I found was that if I export a parts list to excel, then go to File>Open, for some reason the size of my file>open dialog is cleared.

Aug 11, 2013In ACAD 2007 when I create a new UCS, the dialog box shows as current an unnamed UCS which I can then rename. In 2014, this doesn't happen - I have to do all that using the command line. Is there some setting to get the dialog box to work?

Apr 19, 2012I lost my dialog boxes for SAVEAS and EXPORT. I tried the CMDDIA system variable but had no luck. I can't stand having to type in full paths for files that I'm trying to save.
I would imagine that alot of my other dialog boxes default back to command line as well.

Feb 28, 2013We had a project folder named A. We created a new project folder named B and copied the AutoCad files from A to B. On one of our workstations if you open a drawing from folder B, then click save as, the dialog opens to folder A.
Not a big problem, but since the files are named the same it can be confusing...

Jan 9, 2014I've been running dual monitors (22" and a 18") for a while, but I just upgraded to a larger second monitor (now both 22"). Before, I left AutoCAD running in the main monitor, but now I've switched it to run in the second monitor instead. Now AutoCAD will not remember the position or size of the Open and Save dialog boxes while it is in the second monitor. Sometimes it throws them back into the main monitor and other times they show up in the second but without the resize I did previously.

Jun 28, 2012I recently purchased AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 and all of a sudden when I select "File", and "Open", the dialog box from which I am supposed to select a drawing file has a small "Initial View" box with a small check box to "Select Initial View". This box seems docked to the right side of the "Select File" dialog box but I am unable to select the check box. It seems to do nothing. Is this a glitch?

Jun 12, 2012My issue is with the Publish dialogue. I am publishing several sheets to PDF. I do not want layers to be available in the PDF. I shoud be able to control whether or not layers export with the PDF in the "Publish dialogue box > Publish Options > General DWF/PDF options > Layer Information" (then there are two options, either to include or not include layer information). However, when I change it to "don't include" and close out of that box, the main Publish dialogue still shows the layer option as included and the layers are in the PDF after I publish it. why the layers still show up?

Nov 14, 2012As many of us seam to do the option to save by default to an older version of AutoCAD or universal DXF format is selected, my problem is however when you save an existing drawing a prompt appears asking if 'Drawing*.dxf last saved in AutoCAD 2004 format. Save in AutoCAD 2013 Drawing format?' this has annoyed me for years!
I have set it as default DXF 2014 for a good reason I don’t want a prompt asking me if I want to then save it as 2013 or I would have set it like that on my default setting, gets on your nerves when you are doing 100's of files.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Publishing DSD File Message / Model Tab Included In Published List
Mar 30, 2009If I open a drawing created in 2009 and try to publish it in 2010, DSD file message pops saying about unsaved changes (see attached). Since I don't use sheet sets, I do not have any use for DSD file. Is there a way to disable it?
In 2009 it was simple not to include model tab while publishing. Where is this option in 2010? I don't want to remove model tab from the list every time I publish drawings.

Jul 30, 2013I recently started having trouble when I try to save a file. It started about an hour ago. I have been working on this file all day with no problems. What is happening is when I do a quick save or a save as I get an error that says "unable to save to drawing F:NNorthview SchoolsHS - Phase 5, 6 & 7NH-EPSF1A13.dwg. Drawing saved to F:NNorthview SchoolHS - Phases 5,6 & 7savACD.tmp"
If I do a save as It will say the same thing but it will delete the existing file that I tried to save over. I have to do another save as to get the file back. I think this is specific to this drawing because I have not had it happen with any other file.
I ran Recover on the two exref files as well as the working file. No errors are found. I have purged all the files and tried again but it did not work.

Oct 23, 2012I am using Map 3D 2013 on a Windows 7 machine and am getting the following error when I try to do any save, q save or saveas: "One or more objects in this drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created."
I was working in this file yesterday and received the same error at one point. I shut CAD down and did something for a few hours before I came back and everything operated normally for a little while. I was able to make edits and save. But then this morning the error is back. Even upon opening the file and immediately trying to qsave it will give me the error. I have run an audit, purged, tried to copy everything out and save to a new file. Nothing appears to be working.
We do run network licenses and I am pulling my drawings from a server, nothing is local to my machine.

Aug 16, 2012Several times, with different files, I get a message when I try to save a drawing using ctrl-S (or when clsoing an un-saved dwg);
Unable to save to drawing B: (file location folder)file name.
Drawing saved to B: (same file location folder)savD214.tmp
The only option is to click OK
Now there are several .tmp files in my job folder. I haven't tried to open them or anything else.
The original file will be lost if I close the drawing. I've had this happen when I clsoe the drawing before saving it - I'll get a message asking if I want to save the draiwng before closing it, and then I'll get this message, click OK, and the file will be gone. I have to to the .bak file, make a copy of it and change the file extension name to .dwg to get the file back.
If I get this message when I'm just doing a ctrl-S save, I immediately do a "save-as", copy over the original file name, and everything seems to be fine.

Disabled offline and cache on shared directories
Removed the router (server and computers in "standalone", just joined by a gigabit switch 5 ports, 2m of cables between the compure and the server)
Installed latest evaluation of Autocad LT 2013
No Antivirus; firewall settings by default
The user is the only one who access to the autocad files.
Still the problem.
The user does want work on the network anymore unless the problem is solved, which is annoying because only the server has a backup routine.

At present i am able to get the macro to export the pdf and then (user input to directory to save and to overwrite the previous file) then save the file but cannot close the drawing.

Feb 6, 2013We seem to be unable to overwrite a PDF that we created with AutoCAD when PDFing anew with AutoCAD. In other words, I "Plot" a file in AutoCAD and PDF it as "New File A". When I later realize I made a drafting mistake and want to overwrite it, when I "Plot" it says the file is in use or write protected or something of that nature so I have to PDF it as "New File B" and then manually delete "New File A" and then rename "New File B". I might add I do not have to close AutoCAD to do this.

Oct 4, 2011I've got a persisitant problem with the publishing feature in autocad. I know how to set up bulk print of drawings using publish.
However the drawings are a mixed lot (some in paper some in layout). Is there a way to determine the state of the drawing without opening each one. In my case there is thousands of drawings and of course i do not have the manpower to inspect each one.

Dec 4, 2012I have no problems publishing to one file from multiple tabs, or plotting to multiple single files named after each tab. I want to batch plot to a single file with bookmarks named after each tab in my AutoCad file. I would think that it would name each bookmark "Filename-TabName" as it goes down the batch plotting (publishing) list. Right now, I print to individual files and combine. This creates bookmarks for each filename like I want, but I have to name my tabs in order, or re-order everything each time which is time consuming.
Is there a setting to create bookmarks as you print to a single file that are named after each tab? This would be cool and very useful. I cannot imagine that I am the only one who wants this.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Publishing Multiple Drawings To PDF
Jan 28, 2013I've started having a problem with the Publish command when publishing multiple drawings to PDF.
When I plot a drawing using the plot command, I don't have a problem.
When I publish one drawing using the Publish command it is also fine.
It is only when I try to publish multiple files that the problem occurs- the PDFs are produced, but the it is as if the drawing contents (paper space) has been shifted up by 10mm or so, cutting off the top of the drawing, and creating a larger margin at the bottom of the drawing. I use exactly the same page setup as for the single drawing plot.
There seems to be no setting that would change this, and the fact that publishing a single drawing works suggests that there is some kind of bug. At the moment i have to plot every drawing individually (or get my colleague to do it- it works fine on his machine, same page setup file!)

Feb 1, 2013I'm using AutoCAD 2013 and I get a fatal error when it pulls up a print preview. If I have "Publish in Backgound" selected it proceeds to print. The error only appears to exisit when it pulling up the print preview. I have installed sp 1.1. I've repaired and reinstalled also. My AutoCAD 2012 is publishing fine.
