In ACAD 2007 when I create a new UCS, the dialog box shows as current an unnamed UCS which I can then rename. In 2014, this doesn't happen - I have to do all that using the command line. Is there some setting to get the dialog box to work?
View 7 RepliesI lost my dialog boxes for SAVEAS and EXPORT. I tried the CMDDIA system variable but had no luck. I can't stand having to type in full paths for files that I'm trying to save.
I would imagine that alot of my other dialog boxes default back to command line as well.
We had a project folder named A. We created a new project folder named B and copied the AutoCad files from A to B. On one of our workstations if you open a drawing from folder B, then click save as, the dialog opens to folder A.
Not a big problem, but since the files are named the same it can be confusing...
How / which system variable to change such that the Save List As dialog box don't appear every time I click on the publish button?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been running dual monitors (22" and a 18") for a while, but I just upgraded to a larger second monitor (now both 22"). Before, I left AutoCAD running in the main monitor, but now I've switched it to run in the second monitor instead. Now AutoCAD will not remember the position or size of the Open and Save dialog boxes while it is in the second monitor. Sometimes it throws them back into the main monitor and other times they show up in the second but without the resize I did previously.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn AutoCad 2006, when I want to open a new or existing drawing or template, instead of regular dialog box I receive only a prompter dialog which is present in the command line also, asking me for the name of the drawing that I want to open; it is the case also when I want to save a drawing too. I already checked the "Options" under the "Open and Save" tab and everything looks to be in order. How can I resolve this bothering problem since I am able to perform the above tasks only accessing "Windows explorer"?

I have the following function that opens the File "Save As" dialog box. It gets fed a drawing number and allows the users to browse to a folder where they want to save it. The problem is when a file already exists with the same name. A message box pops up letting the user know that the file already exists and do they want to overwrite it. The can pick yes to overwrite, but it doesn't really overwrite the old file, it seems like it opens it and then crashes when the rest of the program tries to run.
What I want to do is create a loop to determine if the file already exists. If it does not exist, then save the path and drawing name as usual.
If the drawing exists, I want to pop up a dialog giving two options; Overwrite, or Rename the current drawing. If they pick Overwrite, I can have the program delete the old existing drawing and then just save this one. If they pick Rename it will loop back to the "Save As" dialog giving the user the ability to change their drawing name (like add a "-1" to it.

In the save as dialog box, the button for creating a new folder will automatically create a named "new folder" at the bottom of the files list. It does not come up highlighted for naming but can be right-clicked, renamed. If your files list is long you won't even see the new folder created as it does not snap to the folder either. Conversely; I can still right-click, new, folder. This acts as expected which creates folder at the top of files list, highlighted for naming.

I am unable to get this code to launch the File Save As Command. I Think I have the sytax correct, because if I Replace "AppFileSaveAsCmd" with a different command name (i.e. "AppFileNewCmd") it works as expected. I have tried this with "AppFileSaveCmd" and "AppFileSaveCopyAsCmd" and both have also failed. It seems any kind of save command wont work... I am trying to creat a rule that will fire on "New Document" iTrigger that will Force a user to save the newly created assembly document in preperation for further iLogic rules that depent on the assembly Filename and path. Maybe there I am not telling it What file to Save? I have pasted the code below..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running AutoCAD 2014 (part of AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2014), & it occasionally freezes on me. I haven't figured out how to reproduce it regularly yet, but it is somewhat predictable. When I run a list routine that opens a dialog box, if I press Escape immediately after the dialog box appears, AutoCAD quits responding & I have to force it to close with the task manager. It doesn't always happen, but it has become a semi-regular event. I've previously used AutoCAD 2010 Mechanical & AutoCAD 2012 (part of Structural Detailing 2012) before with the same routines on this machine with no issue.

AutoCAD 2014 doesn't seem to be noticably more resource intensive than 2012 was, so I don't think that's my issue. I'm just trying to make a habit of saving more often & not accidentally running the wrong command.
The dialog box for MText is turned off. How do I turn it back on so I can edit text from the editor?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a dual screen set up. I left work last night with no problems. I fired up my PC this morning and all of a sudden all of my dialog boxes appear on my second screen. I have disconnected the second screen and all the boxes return to normal. Plug the second screen back in and the dialog boxes go back to the second screen.

It can take over a minute just to get the Open dialog box up to browse for a file. Eventually, the dialog boxes open, but during the time that it's trying to open, the program is unresponsive. It is happening with all of my CS6 programs. I have unistalled and reinstalled with no fix. The programs are updated.

However, one of the most annoying features introduced in CAD 2010 is the 'disappearing' layer dialog box once you go to select a color. So you open the layer, create a new one, go to select a color just before you assign it a linetype, lineweigth and make it current, but as soon as you open the 'select color' dialog box and hover over it the layer window just goes. I know you can just make sure you do the color selection last, but what if you want to create three different layers and assign them a color ? you have to open the layer window 3 times and look for your layers...
