AutoCAD 2013 :: Slow Saving Larger Files
Mar 29, 2012I find autocad2013 very very slow saving, especialley with larger files. The same files save a lot faster in 2012.

I was so disappointed with the amazing slow response when trying to use the Mixer Brushes; fine when using small files, suitable for web, but when working with larger files intended for large printing, it was painful!! Have the people at Adobe sorted the problem out with CS6?
I installed IV13 onto four of our workstations including the update 1.
Due to the size and complexity of our project we are using Vault to manage all of our parts and drawings.
We had issues with 2012 but managed to get around them. I was hoping 2013 would solve some of them but we are experiencing extremely slow performance with 2013. It takes at least 15 to 20 minutes to open and update drawings. Swopping between an assembly and IDW to do updates takes another 20 minutes to refresh and update.
This is happening on all four of the workstations.
I have come across a few forums with this same issue and I have tried setting up the options as described in them but have had no difference in performance.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600QM CPU @ 2HGZ
8GB Ram
Nvidia Quaadro 3000M
I have recently moved from PS CS5 to CS6 and have noticed what seems to be an increase in the amount of time it takes to save large files. At the moment I am working with a roughly 8GB .psb and to do a save takes about 20 minutes. I have had to disable the new autosave features, otherwise it just takes far too long.
CS5 managed to save larger files, more quickly and with less memory available to it. Looking at system resources while Photoshop is trying to save, it is not using its full allocation of RAM specified in performance preferences and there is still space free on the primary scratch disc. The processor is barely being used and disc activity is minimal (Photoshop might be writing at 4mb/s max, often not at all though according to Windows).
I am finding the new layer filtering system invaluable so would rather not go back to CS5. I can do to speed up the saving process?
When I save any work I have completed to my desktop or to a server I get a response that my Illsutrator is not responding. Eventually it saves the document but it takes a very long time to do so.I have cleared my cache and mediabrowser.

I have to use my user because its connected to my email and at this company i cant change that. I have researched many forums and its not color styles or object styles. It does it on a new file with only one object created. I got a new computer signed on to my user account and the problem persists.
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo we have an HP T1100 plotter and we want all the .pc3 files on the server. I go to the plotter in my devices and printers from the start menu and I add in all my custom paper sizes. Then I create a .pc3 file that points to a system printer on my machine for that plotter. I then move the .pc3 file to the server. Next thing I do is go to .pc3 file on the server and filter out all the unneeded papers sizes (arch, jis, iso, etc.) so all that shows up in the plot dialog box are the custom sizes I created. I then re-path autocad to the server in my options. All is fine so far, everything plots fine.
Now I go to another machine and point autocad to use the folders on the server for the plotters. I go to plot and the .pc3 files are there but when I pick the paper size drop down selection, all the arch, jis, iso sheets, etc... that I filtered out are now there. Well, I can go into the .pc3 file on his machine, re-filter out all those unneeded paper sizes and all is well, but then I come over to my machine and all the unneeded paper sizes are there again. It goes back and forth. I save on one machine and then the other one is messed up.
I cannot get the unfiltered papersizes to stay that way on the .pc3 file thats on the server. Why is this? I know I have the .pc3 file pointed to a system printer on my machine but we have the same printer on each machine with the same drivers. We could just put the plotter on the server so there is no system printer but that is not an option right now.
I have made a dynamic block with attribute text. Everything works fine except the text comes out as larger than the mtext that it was created from. The text height & the width factor are the same since i created the attribute default by copying the mtext. when i close the block the text appears longer than the mtext it was created from.

I had my automatic save set up for every 10 minutes but files were not being saved regularly. I deleted files from the Temp folder thinking it was full and now there are no .sv$ saving at all. How can I make drawings save automatically every 10 minutes?
AI6 is very slow on some saves. Nothing fancy with this file. No gradients, no clipping masks, no placed images, simply color line art. I run a Mac Pro with 16Gb ram and Tb raid drives . I've had this problem with a few other files and I think in CS5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have received details that have been blocked that I need to edit. When I expode or burst them, the dims text and arrows grow larger than is required for the block and I cannot find any adjustment in the properties to bring them back to the correct size for the detail. Also the leaders lose their point and association with their text and become just a line.
Is there a command that will allow me to edit the block without loosing the current sizing and associations?
I'm using Photoshop CS6 . I use the timeline to make my frames and adjust the delay number at the bottom of each thumbnail, i've tried (No Delay, 0.01, 0.1, 02) but once I save they slow down.
When I press play from the timeline it plays fast and smooth. When I click "Save For Web" and press play on the bottom right it plays the same (Although for some reason when the delay is set to No Delay or 0, it plays SUPER fast)
When I click "Preview..." on the bottom right and it opens up in IE it plays very slow even though its delay is set to 0 or the others i've listed above. When I save and open it plays just like when I click preview, slow and delayed. I've tried opening with IE, Firefox, and Chrome and same result.
I even tried saving the frames from my animation and using the Online Generator from [URL]......... and the image can play REALLY fast setting the delay all the way down, heck, I had to set it to around "277 delay" for it to play the way Photoshop saves it thats how slow Photoshop is saving my gifs.
So I know its not a case of the gif having too many frames, or the file being too big.. (Which I don't really see how thats relevant anyways since it should only decrease the image quality not the animation speed)
EDIT: I read somewhere that its because I dont have Quicktime, is this true? I don't want to DL Quicktime if not because I dont need it.
Just upgraded a user to Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2013 but AutoCad 2013 and AutoCad MEP 2013 are not saving settings.
On first use the crosshair is large and angled, not standard. If I run "Rest values to default" then the settings are standard until I either restart AutoCAD or open a drawing then have the same strange cross hair.
Have tried creating a new profile, setting it as default startup profile by altering the shortcut but no matter what settings are not saved and revert to strange cross hair once AutoCAD is re-opened or a drawing is opening. If logon to computer as a user without a roaming profile all works fine.
Why is Adobe Illustrator CS 6 so slow when I want save a document with many and great images. Very much slower than Freehand.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy file has over 100 layers and 20,000 containers that are in 3D. It worked fine when I drew them. After I closed the file, it always takes 5 to 10 min to open. I can't delete a layer (layer2) or rotate angle of view or any normal command such as purge and audit.., it always crashes.
I was wondering that if I did anything wrong casued this, and that whether my approach of drawing these is correct, performace wise.. and what would be the better way of doing this..because my drawing is now uesless I can't even rotate it in vp ro do anything...
I created this using Gimp 2.6 on Mac 10.5: [URL].......
When I resize this to a smaller image, the text gets all distorted: [URL]......
I have been looking around on Google, but couldn't find much.Tried scaling with all the different ways (Linear, Cubical... etc). Also tried scaling from XCF and PNG files. Nothing seem to maintain the quality of the text on the image.
When I work with a drawing that have several XRefs, it is too slow to open, save, or to do everything. I configured:
SAVEFIDELITY=0, XLOADCTL=2, INDEXCTL=3
Is there any other way to improve the performance?
I have recently installed Autocad 2014 and am experiencing very slow and jumpy files when using x-refs. The other machines in the office where I work are not experiencing the same problem and apparently my machine is more powerful.
Originally we thought this might be a network issue (as x-refs are being referenced through the network) but when I put the actual reference files on my computer, I experienced the same issue.
We're an IT company that installed a new NAS for all the data in a architectural office. They are using AutoCad 2011 / 2012 / 2013LT / Revit 2011
Since we installed the new NAS and copied all the data from the old one, opening and saving files takes too long. Sometimes the files hang while regenerating. Saving can take up to more then 4 minutes.
Other applications, for example photoshop, work fine. Copying files from the local disk to the network drive, even moren than 100MB works fine. All computers have windows 7 and the NAS is from Synologie. We tried reinstalling AutoCad but that doesn't solve the problem. We tried setting the savefidelity to 0 but that doesn't solve the problem.
3 MB file with several Xrefs takes about 20 mintues to open. I've purged, recoverd, and audited the working drawing and all the overlayed Xrefs, with no success. When I open in AutoCad Version 2007, it opens quickly (one minute)

I have noticed that Inventor 2013 is very slow to close out of a file. I just opened an iam that had less than 50 parts. Rotated it to see the other side, then closed it. Took 1min-21 seconds for the swirley circle to go away and I could open my next file.

How come the size explodes so much and how can I combine the 3 files and still have the original combined size of approx. 1 GB?
