I'm a user of CS5, on a MacPro.
I was so disappointed with the amazing slow response when trying to use the Mixer Brushes; fine when using small files, suitable for web, but when working with larger files intended for large printing, it was painful!! Have the people at Adobe sorted the problem out with CS6?
I find autocad2013 very very slow saving, especialley with larger files. The same files save a lot faster in 2012.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt's a Q6700, 4GB, 2TB drives, Epson R2880 running Windows 7, 64-bit. CS4 is very peppy, runs great, opens, closes, edits, NO PROBLEM.
UNTIL you decide to print. Once you hit the print selection it takes a MINIMUM of 40 seconds for the CS4 print dialog to appear. If you then hit the "page setup" button, it'll be at LEAST another 30 seconds before that appears. Once they're up, you can navigate around and make changes, but once you hit the print button on the dialog it'll be another 10-15 seconds before it responds and if you specify "Print Preview" it'll be at least another 30 seconds before you get the preview. Once it hits the printer, it prints fine. There haven't been any software or hardware changes in weeks, except the weekly MS updates that get installed.
I've tried large images, and small images in case there was something CS4 was doing. This process is this slow when printing a 4x6 greeting card or a 12 x 18 photograph.
What's interesting is this is a new phenomenon... It worked FINE up until sometime last week. Then suddenly, slow....... Concurrently, the print dialog STOPPED DISPLAYING INK LEVELS. The status monitor still displays them, but the printer dialog no longer does.
I've unloaded the printer and cleaned off every file I could find that appeared to be associated with an Epson print driver. Went to Epson and got the latest, Windows 7, 64-bit set of drivers and status monitor and installed that. No difference. Also tried a new USB cable AND switched it to the other USB port on the printer and on the PC. Nothing's made any difference......
If necessary, I can have her re-install CS4, but is there anything that should be done before we start clobbering major applications, or ever worse, the operating system?
When I cut and paste, Autocad lags for up to 30 seconds before continuing to go back to the command prompt. This problem only happens after pasting, whether it is one line or multiple lines/objects. The quantity of data pasted makes no difference to the lag. Also, if it's a new file with nothing in the drawing the issue still happens. The scale list is purged along with the entire drawing, so even on a blank new file it happens?!
I am running autocad 2014 LT and migrated from 2010 recently, where the problem began. I don't have cutting and pasting problems in any other programs like photoshop either, so I have localised it to a cad being the issue.
Also I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but this doesn't fix the problem.
I'm running on intel core duo 2, 4gb ram and 64 bit operating windows system.
I go to mk, connect my clip to a gmask , double click gmask to focus to that module. I switch to 2 viewport. The left is the schematic, the right is the F1 (front). First when i click the F1 viewport, i got no 'add' button for adding gmask. So i have to first go to view pulldown, just do some unecessary click there to refresh. Now after refreshing, i can see my 'add' button is showed up. But the second problem is : i can't immediately press that 'add' button, there's a lag about 5- 7 seconds before i can click that button.
Also i can switch from mk schematic to f1 or f4 quite fast, but sometime go from any of front/back/matte view back to the mk schematic, it will take 4-7 second even for simple/basic mk network/tree.
The problem won't appear when using single viewport.
We are having slow keyboard response while typing in CAD 2010. (It happened a little while using 09 as well). We will start typing a command and our cursor will get ahead of what we're trying to type. Our dynamic input is OFF.

I downloaded just a couple brush packs last night to my photoshop CS3 10. However, in the brush list, it is very slow scrolling up or down and requires the hard drive to work. Is there any way I can prevent this from happening? any files to add or delete? thanks a lot!
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to use a brush, the program slows down to a crawl. For instance: I open a 600 x 450 JPG and load a size 175 brush. Everything is fine until I increase the brush size. 175 - 900 is OK, but then the brush tip starts to lag like all hell. Reducing the brush size doesn't help. Apparently the problem also depends on the image size. When I load the same brush and a 1440 x 900 JPG, the lagging kicks in earlier. I tried changing the performance settings, but to no avail.
I'm using CS4 11.01 and Windows XP SP3.
I am running Imac 2.7 GHz 16 gb ram 600 gb hard drive available
adjustment brushes not showing size, adjustments when done blind are slow to react.
I'm comparing the CS5 & CS6 mixer brush, with moist, light mix, right now...At first I wondered why the CS6 mixer brush was slower, until I realized that it looks like the actual brush stroke in CS6 is more advanced. The CS6 stroke looks like it's calculating the overlapping brush strokes & it's interaction with the texture more accurately to real life.
I haven't read any articles on improvements to the CS6 mixer brush. Has it actually improved or are my settings just different in CS6 from CS5? since I'll probably need to work with "Sample All Layers" unchecked when working with the CS6 mixer brush.
When I use brushes in LR4 performance slows down only during use of brushes?

-first, the new brushes flow slower than before- already at 3000-1700 pixels, 300 dpi. Which are modest measures when you paint seriously. I've some delay pulling a sign with most of my brushes. (Btw, i checked with care my brush dynamics). Some hints of what I should set to get a faster/natural flow ?
-second, the zoom wheel of my wacom tablet is broken with the update to xQuartz 271. 'Never had this problem before-damn, zooming ist important. I worked out some workaround using modifier keys (on the tablet), but its never ever so precise as with the wheel.

I just installed the Student and Teacher edition of CS6 Design and Web Premium. I am having a major issue with Photoshop--my brushes are not working. Smooth airbrushes are appearing with spattered edges (I do not have noise turned on or any other adjustments made), and the erodible brushes are not working at all.

wich is NOT the right folder (as their are no brushes there- and if i save them their they dont load in photoshop next time its started) and i have to manualy go to program folder/adobe/ etc etc etc...why are they saving in the wrong folder and how do i get them to save where they are meant to with out manually entering them
I updated to CS 9.0.2 after my brushes stopped working. For example - I don't see anything if I use any brush on a transparent or white image, but the brush does *work* with a colored background - but the output is slight gray-ish of that background color.

Happily painting away, when I switch to another program, be it Skype or anything else, and then come back to PS my CS5 Media Brush no longer has pressure sensitivity, etc - just like how a bruch behaves with using only the mouse.
The easy fix is to again switch out of PS, and then back, but you have to be careful not to have the pen on the tablet giving it input but rather wait until Photoshop is fully maximized again if minimized or the brush won't regain it's functionality. Do it right though, and it will regain tablet sensitivities.
And I can't use the pattern stamp tool either. Some switch threw itself and I can't paint or type any more. I created a new blank doc and nothing worked there either. There are no selected areas to be inside of or outside of. Every time I click, the history adds another line, but there isn't anything done.
This kind of thing drives me nuts. *If* there is a reason for invoking the brush and having it not work, there should be an error message like the one for trying to clone stamp without selecting a source.
in CS6 the basic keyboard shortcuts such as Command C,A and V are either slow in working, have to be keyed in twice or are not working and have to be selected from the drop down menu. What's up with this? On a Mac OSX 10.6.8.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPeriodically I am having problems selecting text! I will select my text tool and go to edit text and the type tool changes back to the selection tool. I have to fiddle around an click on different layers then go back to the type tool and then it will start working. I am not the only person in my company who switched to CS6 and is experiencing issues with this new program running slow. Switing from layer folders also causes thing to freeze up. I am running off a Mac Book pro with OS Lion 10.7.4. I uploaded CS6 just over a week ago.I only used the CS5.5 trial version so there should not be a conflicting problem with a CS6 trial version.

I have powerbook and CS6 on me. I put the highest memory in Photoshop preference. So I am bearing to work with it for hours for one small assignment, but why does it takes so long? is there a better way to do to save time and speed to make the poster banner to look greater than life? even in 200 dpi?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just had a new 1TB internal hard drive installed in my PC and then the original smaller internal 500GB hard drive cloned onto it. The new 1TB is now Local Dick C and the smaller 500GB has been changed from C and is now Local Disk F. PSE11 is running from the new C and all my pictures are on both C and F but the catalogue is pointing to F. I want to delete all of the old files on F to free up space since they are all cloned to the new 1TB C, so I want the PSE11 catalogue to point only to the pictures on C. I have tried creating a new Catalogue and importing my pictures from C. The images come in and look connected to C but, when I close PSE11 and then reopen that new catalogue, the image path reads F, as does the original catalogue. So, now I have two catalogues apparently point to F but I want to: 1) have only one catalogue pointing to C; 2) the delete catalogues pointing to F; 3) then reformat F: so I have a clean 500GB old hard drive for future expansion.

I'm confused because even the brushes that are not in .abr form do not work. Also, sometimes if I try to fix the brushes by uninstalling and reinstalling there will be random ones that work and then old ones disappear?

I am working in AutoCAD 2010 and editing my drawing with the object lines hidden....I cant even run the mouse across the screen because the crosshairs feel like they are like a half a second behind where I am currently pointing. My PC isnt sluggish anywhere else, only when I am working in 3D.

In prior versions of GIMP there was a semi-transparent line indicating the brush shape and size.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am putting together 3 mpg files from the hard disk of a camcorder that records in mpg format. Separately, all 3 files combine to approx. 1 GB. When I combine these files using VideoStudio PRO X3, my file size jumps to 2-2.5 GB. All I'm doing is combining and that's it. No effects, no titles, nothing. How come the size explodes so much and how can I combine the 3 files and still have the original combined size of approx. 1 GB?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to crop and straighten my 35mm slide scans. When I imported the scans the average file size was 5mb but after cropping and straightening the scans in lightroom 5 and exporting them, the average file size was 15mb! There is no increase or decrease in quality.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to use my adjustment brushes, I would select the one I wanted to use and then go try to use it. As soon as I first let go of my mouse, the brush would change to custom. Since updating to 4.2, that has stopped switching, but my brushes still don't work. I have tried multiple brushes and it's all of them, not just one particular one. I have tried restoring my presets, that didn't work. I have tried deleting all of the presets from the folder, restarting Lightroom and re-importing them, that didn't work. I updated Lightroom, that didn't work. I have restarted my computer and that didn't work. The thing is, is that they HAVE worked before. I was switching between some catalogs and once I was done with that, they stopped working. So I'm not sure if I did something while switching between catalogs or not. I use these brushes all the time and they are a significant part of my workflow!
