Sep 2, 2011I've noticed in my projects, and to a lesser extend in family creation, that when I purge, the files is sometimes larger after the purge than before. This seems counterintuitive.

Revit :: Restore Purged Families From Project
Nov 17, 2008How to restore families purged from a project? Specifically, a new user purged everything not in use from the model, and is now unable to place a 2x2 ACT ceiling. Drawing one in another file and pasting into the model has no effect. This family is not listed in the Imperial Library; is there some other location for these system families?

Sep 26, 2013Is there a way to print an area larger than my titleblock, so that I can include the border defining the edge of the paper in the final printed pdf?
My workflow requires me to open the pdf in illustrator and make adjustments before a final print. I need the boundary printed so that I can scale the drawing inside illustrator back up to proper size.
Maybe I need to make a custom titleblock with a larger boundary?
Premiere Pro :: CC Media Files Much Larger Than CS6
Dec 6, 2013Media file in Premiere CS6 comes out at 7MB, same file and settings in CC comes out at 147 MB. I have tried, deleting saved copies, old rendered files, seems to be consistent across numerous files. IS there a fix for CC or a way to revert back to CS6?

Nov 22, 2010I am putting together 3 mpg files from the hard disk of a camcorder that records in mpg format. Separately, all 3 files combine to approx. 1 GB. When I combine these files using VideoStudio PRO X3, my file size jumps to 2-2.5 GB. All I'm doing is combining and that's it. No effects, no titles, nothing. How come the size explodes so much and how can I combine the 3 files and still have the original combined size of approx. 1 GB?

Jan 17, 2014I am trying to crop and straighten my 35mm slide scans. When I imported the scans the average file size was 5mb but after cropping and straightening the scans in lightroom 5 and exporting them, the average file size was 15mb! There is no increase or decrease in quality.

AutoCad :: Keep Layers From Being Deleted Or Purged?
May 25, 2012Is there a way to "lock" layers so that they cannot be deleted or purged from a drawing?
I have a template with all titleblocks, layers, dim styles, and such, all set up. But since there are a small group of layers that are not actually used in the drawing or template they are "purgable" or "deletable". As far as I understand locking the layer locks the geometry to keep it from being edited so it will not work for what I am thinking.

Sep 4, 2013We have a set of standard layers and styles we wish to be in every file. Many users are purge happy. and the these standards many times get purged out.
I have a block I've created that holds all the standard styles and layers which I have turned to an anonymous block. I wish to stick this somewhere that would make it unpurgeable. I thought I'd find another block which normally cannot be purged and place my block inside, but am not certain which one would be best.
where I might place this block to cause it to be un-purgeable?
AutoCad :: How To Delete (cannot Be Purged) Unused Blocks
May 3, 2011I have an CAD file with a lot blocks which I don't use. I would like to delete them. So I do "Purge" which took care of some but not all. There are still a lot of "cannot purge" blocks. So I do "Insert", I see about 30 blocks. Choosing one of those, I can edit the block. (Doing the "Insert" was just my beginner's test step to see how many unwant blocks I still have.) I believe they cannot be purged because they are nested.
How can I delete the 'cannot be purged" unused blocks?
I know a lot of the blocks have other blocks nested in them. Is deleting the 'parent' blocks enough for me to purge?
Photoshop Elements :: Set Catalogue To New Larger Internal Hard Drive And Then Delete Files From Smaller?
Mar 19, 2014I have just had a new 1TB internal hard drive installed in my PC and then the original smaller internal 500GB hard drive cloned onto it. The new 1TB is now Local Dick C and the smaller 500GB has been changed from C and is now Local Disk F. PSE11 is running from the new C and all my pictures are on both C and F but the catalogue is pointing to F. I want to delete all of the old files on F to free up space since they are all cloned to the new 1TB C, so I want the PSE11 catalogue to point only to the pictures on C. I have tried creating a new Catalogue and importing my pictures from C. The images come in and look connected to C but, when I close PSE11 and then reopen that new catalogue, the image path reads F, as does the original catalogue. So, now I have two catalogues apparently point to F but I want to: 1) have only one catalogue pointing to C; 2) the delete catalogues pointing to F; 3) then reformat F: so I have a clean 500GB old hard drive for future expansion.

Mar 28, 2012I want to attach an xref of "12015.01 - 69 East Ave BB02", but AutoCAD gives me the following error:
Error: "12015.01 - 69 East Ave BB02" is already a standard block in the current drawing. *Invalid*
First I checked to make sure there were no referenced blocks or xrefs in the drawing. I then attempted to purge the following blocks:
"12015.01 - 69 East Ave BB00"
"12015.01 - 69 East Ave BB01"
"12015.01 - 69 East Ave BB02"
Nothing happens. I click on "View items you cannot purge" and highlight any of those blocks and this is what I get:
This block definition cannot be purged if:
-- It is nested inside another block.
-- It is inserted in the drawing.
-- It is an attached xref drawing.
If I copy and paste the drawing into a new file, the blocks does not copy over, so it is obviously a problem with the file and not the drawing (if that makes any sense). I would simply replace the file, but all of my CD's Xref those three files and I don't have the time to go through and re-insert all of them.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Lock Template Layers - Can't Be Purged And LISP
Oct 30, 2012In my seemingly never-ending battle with standardizing, I have created a template with all the layers I expect to use in the future. The template will be used by both surveyors and engineers so I have layers that won't ever be used by surveyors. What I don't want is the surveyor to purge the drawing and delete all the layers that the engineers will need. I found the link below explaining and .lisp to replace deleted layers.

Now, I am completely new at .lisp and how to use them. Also, this template is used in a program called BricsCad (some of the older generation still uses it instead of Autocad) and using .dws and checking isn't an option for them.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Recovering Purged Items After Importing To New Template Sheet?
Mar 28, 2012Needed to purge items in a drawing to recover a drawing in order to repair corruption within it it. I purged and audited the drawing in question and then created a block or the drawing elements which I imported to a new drawing sheet. That's great, all is well but.....obviously (now) the only layers, dimscale,etc. items I normally use in my template sheet are gone and only the items remaining after the purge are the ones that were in my original drawing.
How can I, or can I replace my normal full layer list, dim settings, blocks, etc?
Revit :: Import DWG Files
Jan 9, 2013I am new to using Revit and I am just trying to figure out how it works to be honest. I have made a 2 floor building in ACAD ARCH 13 and when I import the DWG files into Revit, they just show the 2D line drawings even when I look in 3D mode. Do I have to re make all of the walls and such in Revit or am I missing a step to import all of the windows, doors, and wall heights?

Oct 23, 2012We are running Revit 2012 Suites on iMac w/Parallels w/Windows XP SP3. Office file server is a Lion Server running 10.7.5. While working in Revit we can; save PDF's to server, export DWG/DXF to server, and for a few moments after opening a file we can save a .rvt file to the server. But after more than ~2min, Revit freezes at any save attempt and we have to force quit through the task manager.
Last few lines of journal entry for event reads as follows.

Feb 25, 2013Been using Revit 2011 for a couple of years and never had any problems until recently. I attempted to load a component file and got an Unrecoverable Error and Revit shut down. Now, it appears that any attempt to load or open a file from inside Revit results in this same problem. I have read multiple posts and solutions and wiped/reinstalled the program. Nothing has worked. I'm running it on XP.
