Whilst trying to save an edited file in editor I get the following message.
Could not build a preview because of a program error. Im using imac
I have a very simple two-layer image, and am using layer style "bevel and emboss" and the preview of changes starts out working fine. A little more monkeying around and the preview stops refreshing and the OK button just flashes. Click on OK to exit the layer style window and try to save the file (so I can quit and come back in) and I get this error: "Cannot build a preview because of a program error" and the file is not saved.
I found a similar thread on a support forum that suggested disabling all visible layers and saving, which works for saving the file. But when I try to preview my layer changes, it's back to the way it was: the first preview may show, then it stops entirely.
I am using CS6 13.1 x64 extended on a Mac running 10.8.2 with 8G of RAM and no other open apps.
This is the error message I get on my mac book air. It previously worked and now all of a sudden it does not. I have creative cloud and running latest mountain lion.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have 58.86GB of storage space.

I recently updated my adobe software and I am still getting issues with saving layered files. I keep gettting program error - only occasionally. Sometimes saving to my desktop works and other times it doesnt. Other coworkers are experiencing same thing ever since they updated.
It happens when working on a layered file for any length of time and need to save it out as a layered photoshop file. We are forced to flatten and save as a tif and loose our layers. I think it has something to do with background task but not sure...
The crashes always occur while editing a photo in the Camera Raw editor in Bridge (most of the time they are JPG files, yes you can edit JPGS in the Adobe Camera Raw editor) and then hit the "Open Image" button that will open the image in Photoshop. Often Bridge, Photoshop and InDesign all are "not responding" and have to be force quit.
Always when I'm editing a photo in Photoshop that is on a server I get the " Could not create a preview because of a disk error message" which I have to hit the OK button to clear. I just tested this several times and I never get the disk error message when editing an image from my hard drive. I suspect there is a network communication problem.

With PSE_6 under Windows 8.1, the Editor doesn't offer saving of changed picture files in stack, though it creates stacks in Organzer automatically. Any solution?

While using the editor in PSE 10, it suddenly stopped working, giving me a "run time error" message. I have created a new user account, created restore points on my PC, attempted to change the preference files, all to no avail. As I mentioned above, the trial of elements 9 had been working fine. I have made several updates to my system. I can't be 100% certain of the timeline, but I think most were done during the time that I was testing elements 9 and did not break elements 9. i am fairly sure there were a number of updated that were made after my last clean run of elements 9 and before I installed elements 10, namely windows 7 sp1, and various updates, but I was able to install the trial version on a laptop with the same os and same updates.
My Photoshop Elements 12 editor won't open. I have had elements for 2 weeks and it was worked just fine, but now it won't open even though my organizer works just fine. It pops up with an error message. I have tried the ctrl+alt+shift and that doesn't work either. I have updated all that needs updating.
