View 2 RepliesWhen I try and save a Photoshop file, I get the following error message:-
Could not save (filename). because the file is already in use or was left open
I have rebooted my computer, rebooted our server, un-installed & reinstalled Photoshop and also done a system restore, and I still have the problem. (The system restore actually caused huge problems I got the error message The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. You must reinstall or call customer support, except I wasnt able to reinstall or uninstall the product. The computer just would not run the installer. I had to undo the system restore.)
I can do Save For Web with no trouble and I can save files to the same location with every other Adobe product installed in the Web bundle, just not Photoshop.
We have 2 machines here with an identical set up (hardware and software) and the problem is only on one machine.
Even though Photoshop says it cant save the file, its actually saving the file in the following format:-
~psX.tmp where X is a random variable, either characters or numbers.
I have to manually open My Documents and rename the file to filename.psd so I can access it again.
Short of reformatting my computer (which Im not keen on doing because it will mean several wasted work hours and I will have to pay our IT people to come in and hook me back up to our network),
Deleting files and saving files brings up an error message. Files can't be deleted from lightroom which makes editing a nightmare. Also Saving Files (raw of jpeg), brings up an error message everytime.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my adobe software and I am still getting issues with saving layered files. I keep gettting program error - only occasionally. Sometimes saving to my desktop works and other times it doesnt. Other coworkers are experiencing same thing ever since they updated.
It happens when working on a layered file for any length of time and need to save it out as a layered photoshop file. We are forced to flatten and save as a tif and loose our layers. I think it has something to do with background task but not sure...
Whilst trying to save an edited file in editor I get the following message.
Could not build a preview because of a program error. Im using imac
The goal of this project is to take a base part file, save new copies as needed, then modify the copies. They're rings for storage tanks that share the same tank diameter but differ in height and thickness. I have a SaveAsCopy rule in my template ring part that I run externally from my main assembly after passing down the new file names to the part rule. Since I'm testing a lot, I'm always deleting the parts from the assembly, then clearing out the new copies from my folder and running the rule again. Eventually after 1-5 times inventor starts giving me an error.
The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG))
The More Info Tab:
System.ArgumentException: The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG)) at System.RuntimeType.ForwardCallToInvokeMember(String memberName, BindingFlags flags, Object target, Int32[] aWrapperTypes, MessageData& msgData) at Inventor.Document.SaveAs(String FileName, Boolean SaveCopyAs) at LmiRuleScript.Main() at Autodesk.iLogic.Exec.AppDomExec.ExecRuleInAssembly(Assembly assem) at iLogic.RuleEvalContainer.ExecRuleEval(String execRule)
The two other posts on here that deal with that error say it involves enumerating an array that is being changed and looking for an entry that is gone. I have a feeling it has to do with a left over variable (but this is all in iLogic rules so they get cleared at the end of the rule?), temporary files or remnant file references. It works again if I close the assembly and open it back up. Inventor 2013 SP 1.1
I'm using Gimp 2.8.4 on a MacBook Pro.
I have been working on an image file for several hours now, and as a result, there were MANY files open (probably over 30).
I attempted to save the file, and recieved the following error message:
"Could not read the contents of [folder name] Too many open files"
I then closed each of the open files except the file I was trying to save, but got the same results.
The same error message pops up when I try to open a file as well.

I had my automatic save set up for every 10 minutes but files were not being saved regularly. I deleted files from the Temp folder thinking it was full and now there are no .sv$ saving at all. How can I make drawings save automatically every 10 minutes?
I have a .psd open in cs2 that I am trying to save as a .jpegcbut every time I try I get an error message: "could not complete your request because of a program error". I have never encountered this before and need the jpeg version urgently.
View 1 Replies View Relatedcannot save (file) because it is already open, try renaming, etc. However this file is not open, I try saving in different modes (jpg, gif psd, etc) and using different names but still no go.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using Photoshop to create multi page pdf documents, using psd files with layers so that the text is selectable. A few months ago, this worked fine. Having not used this function since, today I tried to design a new brochure only to find a block of text was not appearing in the pdf document. Or it was appearing but messed up - mostly missing but some is there, some is invisible. Single line text is fine. Through trial and error I discovered text box text is fine, as long as the text doesn't go over two lines.
I tried an old document, which I have already made a brochure with so I know it used to work, and it now has the same error. I also tried simply saving the file as a single pdf doc and it has the same problem, so its not only the multi page function. I've tried different fonts and different size fonts.
I have updated Photoshop, but that hasn't solved the problem.
WHen I go to save a 8bit RGB file as a JPG, I get an error that says "could not complete your request because of a program error."
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I have a .PSD file I want to Re-save Over the existing one already on the hard-drive, but everytime I save the file it says the file is "Locked, unlock it in Properties, via Internet Explorer options".
Well, none of the layers in the file are locked. I tried the settings on my computer and didn't find any option that related to the error. The question is, What type of setting in Internet Explorer might have caused this, and How do I fix it?
After that, I tried saving a Different file I was working on, and it saved- with no Error-message.
Is it a security setting? But, if so- why does this problem only occur with This file and not others?
I am running Photoshop CS3 Extended on a Windows XP Pro, with SP2 installed. The computer has two hard drives installed. On all previous versions of Photoshop I've been able to save a file to my 2nd hard drive easily by typing "D:image.jpg"
When I try to do the same in Photoshop CS3 I get an error message that says "could not save as d:d:image.jpg because the file name was invalid"
So I have to hit SHIFT+CTRL+S then type "d:" and then type a file name, making it a 2 step procedure to save a file now. If I don't follow this procedure, and just type the filename it saves the file on drive C: in a subdirectory.
Obviously it's a path error, but I've never had a problem with a straight out command "D:image.jpg" on previous versions and looking at the Preferences options or doing a search for this error didn't shed any light on this issue.
With Photoshop CS6 Extended when i go to save image as jpeg it shows as file name.iff, if save as png it shows file name.pxe and save file as pdf it shows file name.pcx. All formats seem to show another format.I have done all the updates. On a mac as well.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot save for web and devices for some reason. I get the error message shown in the screen shot below.
I'm using CS5 extended, version 12.1, 64 bit. My OS is windows 7. It doesn't matter whether it's a JPG file or a PSD, I get the same error message, and I am unable to find a solution so far.
Lately I get this error when trying to save a JPEG or TIFF.
As far as I know, other formats save just fine.
Anyone know whats going on?
I have been getting an error message: "Error Saving Project" when I try to save my PSE 10 slide show. I am unable to save any changes. I have closed out the project and opened it again and received the same error message.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis just started happening really recently and I'm not sure at all what the cause is, soWhen opening or saving files, Photoshop displays this error message and closes itself:
Runtime Error!Program: C:Program Files (x86)AdobePhotoshop 7.0Photoshop.exe
R6025- pure virtual function call
and here is a picture of the error message:[URL]...it pops up when saving and opening certain files, but not others. I can't figure out what causes it to happen for particular ones since they are not all in the same location, or the same file type.I am using Windows 7 64bit and this is Photoshop 7.0
I'm just trying to update a CS3 illustrator file to 5.5. I continually get the error 'an unknown error has occurred' when saving it. I've copied and pasted each item individually into a new file and then saved to eliminate what the problem is. What i've found is any lines drawn/used are causing the error. How do I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am new to photoshop and I am having a problem saving my layers in PSD Photoshop cs5.5. I created 4 layers. The problem is that after saving it as a PSD file and during the save process the layers box is checked, it wont open with all layers. So if I close the original that has all 4 layers and then reoping it after its saved, its not the same. The picture looks proper and all layers are in the picture, but on the side properties panel it looks like this..
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to save a .psd file today after working on an image I got a message saying - Could not save as "_IJD3271.psd" because of disk error. What might be causing this to appear and even better how to remedy it. This has just started today as I was working recently on images and saving them without any problems whatsoever.

I have one concern if im going to work on some kind of project at home on my pc and then I will wanna carry on on it at the college were I'm gonna use Mac, will I be able to load that project? If not what should I do? Because today when I Mac didn't load me a InDesign file which I saved on my PC. I don't want this happen to PS files.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got cs6. Am finding that when I save PSD files as pdf they lose some elements, and type turns white, some of it with faint outlines.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed CS6 on a new computer, i7 and plenty of everything. Also has windows 8, yuck. On my previous computer running a different ps but the same Lr version, I had no issues. But saving images is a nightmare. I shoot in raw, so my files are large. From within Lr, to bring a photo in tiff format over to ps, edit, save, it will take minutes PER photo. Yet bringing the same raw image into ps via bridge, it saves fine...still a bit slow, but not even close to the lag. Same issue whether it is psd or tiff.
There is no software on my computer other than cs6 and lr4.2, no antivirus, nothing except the other garbage that comes with win 8. I think that because I can't find anything on this issue, it must be due to win 8 as the OS and it is causing a disconnect between Lr and ps.
saving GIF files straight from PS.
When i go to save as and try saving it as GIF, I get a new window saying "Indexed color" and the image's colors go a little crazy...
I've added a picture to show what i mean.
For now I just open the PSD files in ACDsee and save it as GIF from there, but i would like to know the way to save GIFs directly from PS.
