I am working in PS 7 OS 10.1.5. I have a file that was working on, saving as I went along. I closed the file and when I tried to reopen it, the file would not open. I get a message ... File can not be opened because of a program error...
I am working on a picture file, jpegs, changing the size, the level, etc. I open several pictures usually 3 or 4 and when I try to open the next I receive a pop up error message that says: "Could notcomplete your request because of a program error.” This has just started to happen recently, probably since I upgraded to CS6. Previously I could work on a file and have 100 or so pictures open and still be able to open additional pictures. I have downloaded and in installed all availableupdates and the message I receive when I check for updates is:
“Your applications are up-to-date as checked less than a minute ago.” I tried to Edit>Purge>All, Reset Preferences, Deleted the Adobe Photoshop Ver. 6 Prefs.psp folder and pressed Ctrl+Alt+Shift on Photoshop startup and deleted Adobe Photoshop Settings file. Did not work, what next?
How do I change a specific file type association in Bridge CS5, namely the .psd file type? I had installed Photoshop CS6, but am unable to use it due to extreme slowness (another problem, not for this question). I have reverted to using Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5.
Now when I double-click on a .psd file in Bridge CS5 to open it (or right-click on the .psd file) , the file opens up in the glacially slow CS6. I went to edit> preferences>file type associations to change the association to Photoshop CS5, but .psd is not listed as a file type (.jpg and .dng and a host of other file types are listed). How can I change the association if I cannot find the file type? (BTW: I have changed the file type association in Windows Explorer; I am running Windows XP.) I know I can open PS CS5 manually and scroll to the image I want to open but, to my mind, that defeats one of the main purposes of Bridge.
I am using Windows 7 Pro. Recently I had some slowing down of system and found I had to clean up some Malware. System cleaned up but this error started show up on all trys to open program.
Whenever he starts Photoshop up, all of his auto recovery files open. For example - when he goes to open a psd of a web design, he will get about 25 files opening with the title "JobName recovered".
I had a meander around the forums looking for possible fixes and information about the Auto Recovery feature, but so far have not been able to cure this ailment.
I have previously disabled the Auto Recovery feature as well as deleting the auto recovery files, yet this was only had a band-aid to amuptation effect. The auto recovery files have reappeared and are now opening again upon start up.
I was trying thje new lightroom 4 beta, and is been crashing everytime I try to work with it..I was editing a picture and trying to see with the before and after view, and is been crashing since then, why is that?
Since upgrading to Mavericks anytime i try to open files by going to file, open it says "Could not complete your request because of a program error".. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and also tried using the cleanup tool but still getting that error. I am using an iMac 27".. Also tried resetting preferences, still no luck.
Im having problems with the adobe creative cloud. When I try to open files in photoshop I get this "Could not complete your request because of a program error."
I recently updated my adobe software and I am still getting issues with saving layered files. I keep gettting program error - only occasionally. Sometimes saving to my desktop works and other times it doesnt. Other coworkers are experiencing same thing ever since they updated.
It happens when working on a layered file for any length of time and need to save it out as a layered photoshop file. We are forced to flatten and save as a tif and loose our layers. I think it has something to do with background task but not sure...
Working on a Mac pro dual core with 16 g ram. Was last working on an image in develop module when I closed the app. On relaunching it opens to the image I was working on, shows the little box that says loading then the program freezes and I get the very loved spinning beach ball of color. Have to force quit. Have restarted computer and so far have the same problem every time I try to relaunch. I have about 20 images in the library. All was working well prior with just a little slowness in response with adjustment sliders.

I have some old Photoshop files, tif, psd, jpg, etc. on a CD. When I try to open them, I get an error-108 and the file disappears from the finder. I have tried to copy to the hard drive, but I get an operation cant be completed, one or more items cant be found error-43.
I'm having a hard time creating MP4 HD files. It's always gone well, but recently it seems that I get to around 99% rendering, and then it crashes. I get the message "The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning"
I'm running an older dual core intel T2080 CPU with Vista, nothing fancy. It seems to happen with videos that are around an hour and a half. If I keep my videos to around an hour it will complete the rendering process. I am able to see the final 8GB file that was created, but it won't play as the rendering wasn't 100% finished with the longer video. This whole thing happens on different PC's so it's not my program installation.

I've recently become aware that other people are getting an error message when opening many of my my psd files if they are on earlier versions of PS and also on PSE, (including the latest version). The message is:
This document contains unknown data which will be discarded to keep layers editable. To preserve the original appearance instead, choose flatten to load composite data as a flattened image.
Three options follow: Flatten Cancel Keep Layers
When 'keep layers' is selected the file opens as normal. However, people with much earlier version (CS version 8) don't get the option to keep layers, and the layers are flattened when the document is opened.
I still have CS5 on my mac, and I find that if I take my finished file into CS5 and save it there, the customer does not get the message above, and the file behaves as it should. Those on very early version of PS can also open the files without any issues.
I've been using CS6 since it was released and have had to delve through all my files and save them in CS5. Not every file is affected and I've been unable to find a common thread.
I've tried every smarty solution to get Gimp to open EPS files with ghostscript installed.
Nothing works. I'm on Windows 7 and have looked at some of the solutions on this forum. No luck. I'm wondering why Gimp has had such a long history with this problem.
Been using Revit 2011 for a couple of years and never had any problems until recently. I attempted to load a component file and got an Unrecoverable Error and Revit shut down. Now, it appears that any attempt to load or open a file from inside Revit results in this same problem. I have read multiple posts and solutions and wiped/reinstalled the program. Nothing has worked. I'm running it on XP.
A couple of times I was able to successfully open RAW (Canon CR2) files as layers to stitch together, but now when I try to open a RAW file I get error messages.
I installed Mavericks yesterday ... Am having issues with Illustrator. First it wouldn't open and had to runt he Java install, that took care of that. I am able to make new files without problem and open EPS files, but cannot open existing AI files UNLESS going to File > Open. If I double click on an AI file I get the error "The appliation can't be found"
I still cannot open RAW files shot by Nikon D800 in Photoshop, even with ACR RC 6.7 installed or even Photoshop CS 6 beta. Some seem to have succeeded by installing ACR RC 6.7.
I have succesfully installed Autodesk Inventor 2011 (Student License) on my Windows 7 (64-bit) operating system without any errors. I can open Inventor 2011, but when I try to open a new or existing file, Inventor suddenly closes and the 'Autodesk Inventor Error Report'-window opens, giving the following error:
Error: Unhandled Exception
When I go to my project folders and try to open any inventor file, the following message appears:
"Inventor.exe needs to register with he operating system and the following programs (Explorer) are running and may prevent registration from succesfully completing. Autodesk recommends terminating the offending processes to ensure proper registration. Terminate these processes before continuing with the registration?"
If i cick 'Yes', the problem remains.
I've tried reinstalling, following the instructions carefully (installed as administrator), without success. I installed both service packs. I keep having the same problems, while in the past, it has been working perfectly, but I lost it because of hardware problems, which are now resolved.

Some saved files will not reopen in CoreldrawX5 showing an error message 'Encountered an improper argument' and that is it! Very frustrating as all the work seems to be lost and needs to be redone.
When I use the quick selection tool (or when I use content-aware scaling) I get an error message saying "could not complete your request because of a program error." I am working with NEF files, 4 GB of RAM, fast machine with plenty of scratch space, Radeon X1950 crossfire graphics card. With small .jpg files, the problem doesn't occur.
