View 8 RepliesI have this object that has a pattern around it with spikes:
I want to take this pattern from this shape and wrap it around this ellipse:
Obviously I know that the pattern will be too short and won't fit around the full ellipipse, but wondering if there is an easy to way to accomplish this (ie a built in function)?
What is the best method or plugin in order to wrap a label (made in Xara designer pro) around a vitamin pot to that it has a 3d effect - example of effect trying to achieve is attached?
I tried using the mould tool but cannot get it looking realistic.
How do I make text to wrap around a circle pattern?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAttached is a simple drawing of a round tube sitting on an imaginary level grade. I'm needing to develop a pattern to cut the bottom angle. I'm making a scale model and this is one of the elements. The scale is 1"= 10.66" so this round tube will be 4.5" in diameter. The angle is too gentle to cut in my horizontal band saw; can't fit it between the guides. Years ago, we used to grid out from a base line and develop a continuous curved line on flexible linoleum that when wrapped around the tube, would allow a line to be drawn on what would be my grade level line.
We would then cut the steel tube with a torch on said line. Did this for 24" to 90" diameter pipes. I need to do this for this one cut; I think I can get all the rest of the angles for the project on the saw. I'm hoping that the printable (can be done on more than one sheet if needed and taped together or something) paper pattern can be rendered easily, such as a sheet metal shop might develop a flat pattern for rolling or bending. I'm limited to legal size paper, 8.5 x 17". I'm using AC LT 2011 so I'm limited in my abilities.
I'm very new to Xara Web Design (I have version 9). I'm trying to wrap the text around my photos. The 'help' file advises to repel text under and/or repel and anchor. I have tried both options and my photo just lands in the middle of the text. The tutorial just says to use the 'select' arrow and move the photo around and the text will form around it. No go....what am I doing wrong????
View 1 Replies View RelatedPlanning to be off line for several days and starting getting into photoshop composition. Are there any well known, good value, texture/pattern packs, that are popular and you would recommend that would contain textures/patterns I could use in compositing some backgrounds. Specifically I had in mind:
* inside rooms - wall & floor textures
* old rooms - rock, tiles, cobbleston textures
* outside areas - trees, grass, road surface, walls, vegetation
That is so offline I would have a nice large range to choose from to blend into background compositions. I know you can "google" to get various results, but if there are a few specific well know & large/comprehensive packs of this type of thing at a good price..
how to create clouds, and the only thing I am missing is something I am supposed to have, which is a clouds pattern file. I am searching high and low for this particular file.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to know how I can put a pattern on an image. It needs to be an image with a transparent background. For example, this image (that I found on Google):
(this is a huge picture, I am just using it as an example).
Its a PNG image. Its a star template, filled with a pattern of stars....how can I do this using Gimp? I want to make different stars like this one..some with cheetah pattern, some with zebra pattern etc.
I know it has to do with the layers or something
Also, does Gimp come with templates I can use? Like a star, for instance?
I've got a bunch of bowls and dishes that have been photographed in a perspective view. That is they're not photographed from a top down or profile view. I'd like to place a pattern around the bowl but how do you make the pattern bend and follow the contours of the bowl accordingly?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have to animate a long tentacle like object eminating from something , wrapping around another object and pulling it backwards. I have been looking at splineIK,pflow and some other approaches but they only cover part of the animation I need.
I am playing with PFlow and I can get something to spawn along a spline path to wrap around the object but not sure how to simulate the thing retracting and pulling the object with it.
I know there must be a better way to do this.
I am trying to use conform, but when I pick the wrap to object, it inherits the material of the wrapper object. I am using active viewport and I am aligned directly over the object to be wrapped to. What am I doing wrong?
my specs are this quad processors, 8 Gb RAM, windows xp64bit, 3ds max 2011
Is there a way I could wrap a stencil around the object ?
For instance.. on a cube.. I use the stencil, straight line to wax a hard surface.
But on the edges, it breaks because it projects from the front.
any way to wrap the stencil around the object so the line continues without breaking on the edges ?
I was wondering if photoshop or a plugin got a function, which can create a "plane" looking like pants and then fill it with the texture/pattern I want?
Something similar to vanishing point. Though in this case I got pants. So a square ain't useful.
Take a look at the pictures. I cut out the pants, make a plane looking thing, which shows the depths and folds in its area. After that I apply the texture/pattern. Is this possible with photoshop?
I hope you catch my meaning. If not I will try to describe myself better.
I'm fairly new to using bump maps and have a question about a wood grain bump map.
I am using a bmp file in the material editor for the wood grain, along with a UVW modifier to make the grain run differently on the different pieces of the furniture. I was hoping to "enhance" the appearance of the grain on the wood, so I thought I would try a bump map by using the same bmp file and set it to 30%. While there is much more texture to the grain than wanted, I'm wondering why the vertical instances of the wood do not seem to have the map applied?
Aside from that question, is there a better way of enhancing the grain pattern without necessarily increasing the texture?
Is there a simple way to 'wrap' something around a cylindrical object in CS6?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a detail shot of an ongoing project for a Group Challenge. The supplied image was the door and steps, and you can see what theme I am going with. The entire guitar has been constructed as PS illustrations. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a photograph of a jar and a smart object which is my label. If I go: >3D >New mesh from layer >Mesh preset >Cylinder - then the label is wrapped around the cylinder and is actually perfect - job done.
Questions:
- How to I make the Cylinder transperant so I only see the label
- How do I get out of the 3D window so I can place my wrapped label on the photograph of the jar?
I can't work this out (I have previous experience with Cinema 4d and Modo) or find instructions/YouTube videos that make sense.
I'm using CS3 extended and would like to wrap a logo around a circular object.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to wrap some 2D text around an object, which has perspective. See example below:
The above is my attempt at wrapping the word "NEIGHBORHOOD" around the object. What I did was Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Mesh... and just approximated how it should look by using a combination of guides. There has got to be a better, more precise way of doing this in illustrator.
I have a created a spiral path and added type to it. This spiral circles a planet-like object. This object is not completely circular, therefore overlaps some of the spiral. I would like the type on the spiral to wrap these protrusions. And I have tried the usual way of applying a text wrap (object > text wrap > make). The type on path doesn't seem to recognize the text wrap.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Coreldraw X5 for printing and sublimation. If I use Pattern or Texture fills for a background, is there any way to make them less intense so the text can more easily be read? I am not sure of the correct terminology, whether it is "fade", "intensity" "transparency" etc. I would just like the fill to be fainter.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add some texture to some text by subtracting a grunge pattern from it. I've expanded the appearance of the text, so it is now shapes. However, when I place the texture shape over it and try to subtract it from the letter shapes, it only leaves me with the first letter.
Is there another way to do something like this? I would rather not have to keep subtracting the pattern from each letter individually. I've tried ungrouping the letters, then uniting them in the Paths panel, but it doesn't seem to be working either.
One of the things I print in my business are mugs. The printable surface is 275 x 75 mm.
I would like to know if it is possible to show a visual impression of a mug with the design wrapped around it. I have X4.

I'd like a more intuitive way to set up UV maps in Maya. It seems to me that there should be a process similar to using low polygon models as wrap deformers. Basically I figure that the low polygon would act as a projection wrap allowing for less UVs to adjust but enabling a very good flow of the texture map around any polygon, subdivision, and NURBS model of any complexity. Is there such a thing? If not, is there a way I can convert a wrap deformer to be a UV projection object?
