Is there a way I could wrap a stencil around the object ?
For instance.. on a cube.. I use the stencil, straight line to wax a hard surface.
But on the edges, it breaks because it projects from the front.
any way to wrap the stencil around the object so the line continues without breaking on the edges ?
Is there a way to apply a stencil to an entire model at once? if you wanted a lizard to have scales all over, uniformally, and then mask them out where you wanted, is there a way to do that in one step as opposed to painting over the stencil, rotating the model, painting over the stencil, etc.. etc..?

The problem I'm experiencing is that I sculpted a plane with PTEX and exported a PTEX vector displacement map, however, when I go to the Image Browser to attempt to use it as a stencil or stamp the PTEX file does not show up. The only files I can see in the browser are TIFF, PNG, etc. If I change the Output Options > Map Type to from PTEX to Texture I get an error: "At least on target model has been set up for PTEX. You must select PTEX format(*.ptx) for maps extracted using this target."

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have to animate a long tentacle like object eminating from something , wrapping around another object and pulling it backwards. I have been looking at splineIK,pflow and some other approaches but they only cover part of the animation I need.
I am playing with PFlow and I can get something to spawn along a spline path to wrap around the object but not sure how to simulate the thing retracting and pulling the object with it.
I know there must be a better way to do this.
I am trying to use conform, but when I pick the wrap to object, it inherits the material of the wrapper object. I am using active viewport and I am aligned directly over the object to be wrapped to. What am I doing wrong?

The entire guitar has been constructed as PS illustrations. The strings are a four layer smart object bent from the Nut to the tuning pegs with Puppet warp, but I need to curve the strings around the pegs to look like they have been wound.

The above is my attempt at wrapping the word "NEIGHBORHOOD" around the object. What I did was Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Mesh... and just approximated how it should look by using a combination of guides. There has got to be a better, more precise way of doing this in illustrator.
I have a created a spiral path and added type to it. This spiral circles a planet-like object. This object is not completely circular, therefore overlaps some of the spiral. I would like the type on the spiral to wrap these protrusions. And I have tried the usual way of applying a text wrap (object > text wrap > make). The type on path doesn't seem to recognize the text wrap.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am painting a brick wall, the wall is separated into 2 objects, the bricks and the stuff between the bricks.
The problem I am having is that I isolate the stuff between the bricks and paint that gray but when I "show all objects" the gray color have transferred to the edges of the bricks. I have tried maps with different resolutions but that makes no difference.
How do I make it so that I can paint only on the isolated object?
One other way:I can apply 2 different mudbox materials, 1 to each object and create 2 diffuse maps, 2 bump maps and 2 specular maps. But how do I combine the different map with each other?
The objects are going to be combined into 1 mesh that uses 1 diffuse map, 1 normal map and 1 specular map.

I have a character in Max. The eyes are separate geometry as usual. When I "Send to Mudbox" everything works out fine. No error messages. But the eyes are being placed by the knees and close together. Though I can move them into position, I'd like to know what's cause this problem? The character itself is fine.
The eyes ARE quads with correct Unwrapping. Again, no warning displaying.
I'd like a more intuitive way to set up UV maps in Maya. It seems to me that there should be a process similar to using low polygon models as wrap deformers. Basically I figure that the low polygon would act as a projection wrap allowing for less UVs to adjust but enabling a very good flow of the texture map around any polygon, subdivision, and NURBS model of any complexity. Is there such a thing? If not, is there a way I can convert a wrap deformer to be a UV projection object?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue transferring an object I have sculpted in Mudbox, and trying to import it correctly to Maya. In Mudbox, both of my objects show up just fine (don't worry about the UV issue on the face). When I choose to 'send objects to Maya,' the objects display in a new scene, but the hair doesn't show up at all. In the Outliner, Maya displays an empty transform node titled 'hair,' but I can't get it to show up as a solid mesh within the scene.
Am I going to have to remodel the hair in mudbox again and just pray that the model will import to Maya without issues?
For some reason, when I try to create a transparent object with a low opacity material, the object underneath it seems blurred out as if the texture res of the inside object is very low. once I hide the transparent object it returns to normal.
Unfortunately it also looks like that when saving an image.
I tried playing around with the material and with the preferences of Mudbox but couldn't find a solution.
I've never worked with 3D effect before (not even in the earlier versions), until now when I finally need it. I've therefore searched the Internet and the Adobe Forums in order to get to know how to wrap a text/image around a glass bottle in Photoshop CS6. I've found several answers and tutorials, but none of them regards CS6 or they are simply too primitive, whereby the effect is too fake. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to wrap an image around a curved object. This is a front elevation of a sign I am attempting to render and the sign wraps around a pole. What I am attempting to do is not just "squeeze" the copy but actually attempt to show what the image will look like if you are looking directly at it which means that the closest portion of the image will look normal but as you look further out towards the edges then the graphic and copy would appear to merge and disappear backwards. I hope I am explaining this well. I am trying to wrap my brain around this concept. I know you can do this in photoshop with stretching but cannot fathom how I can attempt this in CorelDraw or Illustrator.
