Mudbox :: Only Paint On Isolated Object?

I am painting a brick wall, the wall is separated into 2 objects, the bricks and the stuff between the bricks.

The problem I am having is that I isolate the stuff between the bricks and paint that gray but when I "show all objects" the gray color have transferred to the edges of the bricks. I have tried maps with different resolutions but that makes no difference.

How do I make it so that I can paint only on the isolated object?

One other way:I can apply 2 different mudbox materials, 1 to each object and create 2 diffuse maps, 2 bump maps and 2 specular maps. But how do I combine the different map with each other?

The objects are going to be combined into 1 mesh that uses 1 diffuse map, 1 normal map and 1 specular map.

Mudbox :: How To Wrap A Stencil Around The Object

Is there a way I could wrap a stencil around the object ?
 
For instance.. on a cube.. I use the stencil, straight line to wax a hard surface.

But on the edges, it breaks because it projects from the front.
 
any way to wrap the stencil around the object so the line continues without breaking on the edges ?

3ds Max :: Send To Mudbox / Wrong Object Location?

I have a character in Max. The eyes are separate geometry as usual. When I "Send to Mudbox" everything works out fine. No error messages. But the eyes are being placed by the knees and close together. Though I can move them into position, I'd like to know what's cause this problem? The character itself is fine.

The eyes ARE quads with correct Unwrapping. Again, no warning displaying.

Maya :: Objects In Mudbox Will Not Transfer To Solid Object

I am having an issue transferring an object I have sculpted in Mudbox, and trying to import it correctly to Maya. In Mudbox, both of my objects show up just fine (don't worry about the UV issue on the face). When I choose to 'send objects to Maya,' the objects display in a new scene, but the hair doesn't show up at all. In the Outliner, Maya displays an empty transform node titled 'hair,' but I can't get it to show up as a solid mesh within the scene.

Am I going to have to remodel the hair in mudbox again and just pray that the model will import to Maya without issues?

Mudbox :: Transparent Object Blurs Out Underneath Stuff

For some reason, when I try to create a transparent object with a low opacity material, the object underneath it seems blurred out as if the texture res of the inside object is very low. once I hide the transparent object it returns to normal.

Unfortunately it also looks like that when saving an image.

I tried playing around with the material and with the preferences of Mudbox but couldn't find a solution.

Mudbox :: PTex Paint Model Export To UVs?

If I don't set up UVs in my model and instead use PTex painting in Mudbox, can I then export the model to OBJ with UVW maps? I would like to import the model to Octane render which imports OBJ files and their UVW mapping.

I have Mudbox 2009 and am contemplating downloading the 2012 demo to see if Ptex painting makes things easier for me, but it won't work if I can't then bring the painted model into Octane or into my license of Max 2011.

It try bring an image into paint layer. I found that there is this function:

PaintLayerImporter() and it takes 4 parameters. They are:

1) const QString &sFileName, ///< Name of the file to import
2) int iFileTypeIndex, < Index of the type of the file in the array returned by SupportedExtensions

3) Mesh *pMesh, ///< Mesh which contains the paint layer
4) TexturePool *pTarget ///< Destination of the import operation

But I'm not able to get this function to work. Any small example how to use it.

I think that main problem for me is that I don't know exactly what 2) parameter means(int iFileTypeIndex). It says that you get that from SupportedExtensions but When I look at it:

virtual QVector<FileExtension> SupportedExtensions( void );

It surely dosen't look int.

Mudbox :: Using Selection Sets With Paint Layer Masks?

I set up some selection sets thinking they would come in handy later on when I am painting. I thought I would be able to use them to paint my layer masks, but I cant figure out a way of using the selection to limit where I am painting inside the mask. I thought convert to a freeze but it seems paint layers ignore frozen areas. Is it possible, or is it a case of saving selections for sculpt and not for paitning?

Mudbox :: How To Export Ptex Paint Layer To Be Used In Another Application

I'm having a problem trying to export a ptex paint layer to be used in another application.

For some reason when I export it, everything seems to work just fine, until get gets to calculating tangents and then it hangs forever on 99%... Every way I try saving the file, it does this. I can easily paint on my mesh, and save the project file, but I can't export the ptex file.

Deleting the mydocuments/mudbox folder which I did.

I'm using mudbox 2012 64bit on Win 7.

Mudbox :: Crashes While Transferring Paint Layers - Segmentation Fault (Core Dumped)

I have painted my base mesh with PTex using Mudbox. I have made some changes to the original mesh. Now I wanna transfer paint layers from my old geometry to the new one. I imported the old geometry with PTex paint on it. Then I imported the new modified geometry. But When I try to set it up for PTex painting, Mudbox crashes. This happens when setting the resolution. Looking at the log, the error seems to be "Segmentation Fault (Core dumped)".

Revit :: Everything New Is Hidden When Something Is Isolated

I'm trying to edit a mass so I have it isolated. I want to see how large something is so I need to dimension it. But when I create the dimension I can't see it. It is hidden.

It's hidden because I have everything hidden except for the mass. But the dimension wasn't included in the things to hide when I chose to isolate that mass. So why is it hidden now?

Is this normal for Revit? When you have something isolated, does it only ever just show the items you have isolated? Can't it ever show new objects too? Can you switch off this behavior so it displays the new objects too?

Revit :: Isolated Foundation Not Showing As Cut

I am having issues with isolated foundations not showing as cut when the cut plan is through the foundation.  The wall foundations are shown cut, but I cannot get the isolated foundations to show cut.  I verified by wall sections that both foundation types are definitely passing through the cut plane.

AutoCad :: Defpoints Is Unattainable When Isolated

I began to notice a weird glitch with the layer Defpoints.

When you isolate this layer any object on the layer is now unattainable to be selected via normal window crossing and direct object clicking. Go a head and try it and you will see what I am talking about. I also discovered even with a select few extra layers turned/thawed on with defpoints alone you still cannot select any objects on the layer. I noticed maybe +10 layers (dont quote me) turned on with defpoints then it is selectable as normal.

IIRC you can still select it via qslect once the layer is isolated.

I tried creating custom layers to replicate defpoints with non printable attributes etc. and it worked fine with this glitch because it wasn't defpoints but there's nothing like good ol defpoints. I personally tend to draft alot of behind the scenes information on defpoints.

GIMP :: Removing Background From Isolated Image?

I have a stock photo of a white and yellow flower isolated on black and when I add an alpha channel and use 'color to alpha' to remove the black background it creates some transparency in the image too.

I understand that this is because it is taking the black out of the flower too but I thought the point of isolating an image was so that the background can be removed.....which leads me to believe that there must be another way of doing this?

i am using Acad 2005 for two years. since now i started to use acad 2010. i did find the difference in layer isolation in 2005 if you do layer isolation, only the particular layer visible. then can be select all of them in one window. without disturbing other layers. but in 2010 while i isolate a layer, other layers also visible in the backround. when i select the isolated layer in one window, also the backround layers also getting selected.

i am facing problem in selecting the isolated layer all objects in one window.how to do selection or how to work on that?

I've got a large job and Object Isolate has been good for our drawing prodeuction but now we're running into some glitches on a regular basis the last few weeks.

1st Undo is being disabled.   Thia really only started since we've begun plotting drawings and Isolating objects.

2nd We can't isolate everything.   Is there a limit to the number of objects that can be isolated?  or anything that controls that?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Best Method - Share Sheet Sets With Isolated Users

I have a SheetSet of a wastewater treatment plant that contains 70 sheets fully developed.  The SheetSet incorporates Sheet Views, ViewLabels, and View Callouts as part of the SheetSet as well as Fields in the standard titleblock for Sheet Title and Sheet Number.  A Sheet List Table created from the Sheet Set is used as the Project Sheet Index.

There are Structural and Mechanical (HVAC) drawings that require design subcontractor review and editing.  These design subcontractors will make their own edits to our existing drawings.  They are outside our office and have no direct digital connectivity with us.  It is most likely not possible to provide them connectivity to our project file storage space for non-technical reasons.  (i.e. it may be technically possible but not possible for other reasons not under my control.)  Their knowledge and proficiency with Sheet Sets is unknown.

What is the, or is there a, best method for accomplishing coordination of our Sheet Set with the subcontractor edits under these conditions?

If digital connectivity between our offices is possible, what is the best practice / scenario for Sheet Sets with that setup?I'll need to send the files to these subcontractors or establish connectivity in the next few days!

Paint Shop Pro :: X4 Object Extractor

I am using Paint Shop Pro X4, with Italian language.

When the mouse pointer is hover the Accuracy selector (in Object Extractor section) PSP crashes.

This happens only if the language is set to Italian, no problem if the language is English.

I think there's problems with some tooltips.

The MEIS document for 3ds max URL...., in the Compositing module talks about using the paint tool.. "demonstrate basic paint operations using the paint tool"

the object paint or object deform paint utilities? You cant actually "paint" 3D models using 3ds max can you? the reference they say to look up is "paint" and when I look this up in 3ds max help, the object paint and deform paint tools are all i can find.. So are these compositing tools?
