View 9 RepliesI'm working on some renderings for homes, and I need to plase some bricks over an arch on a window. I've got a pic of bricks all lined up, but they are straight, and I need them to bend around a curve.
View 8 Replies View RelatedUsually, I chamfer a simple box by creating it, converting it to an editable poly, selecting the edges, and adding a chamfer in the 'Modify' tab. Now, my problem:
The Lego fan community has developed digital Lego parts [URL]..., which use the correct dimensions, but have unreastic chamfering and geometries (eg, an octagon is used to depict a circle. LDview, a program for viewing LDraw files is able to export these parts into .3ds (and .stl) files - links below. However, I am unable to chamfer or modify these parts using my usual method.

I want to draw a wall with irregular bricks. Meaning these are old elongate bricks that are not exactly rectangular and are not all of the same length.
Here's an example of what I want to achieve:

Using Paint.net 3.5.10
I am trying to add some red bricks similar to the ones shown on the house to this dirt path.
I tried adding a layer, made it an overlay, and copying and pasting the bricks onto the dirt area. That didn't work. Tried using the clone tool and that didn't work.

I am trying to create a specific hatch for bricks and mortar. I have no problem creating the standard brick hatch but when I try to put mortar around the bricks that is when I get unstuck!
My horizontal lines and spaces appear to be okay but my vertical lines are all over the place, very confusing!!
I have attached my workings (have not yet got to the 4th line of code though!)
Stumbled across these t-shirt designs with stencil effects and would love to know how this is created! I have some photos of my sister's daughter and I'd like to give her a t-shirt for Xmas with her pic on!

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm a complete noob on PS... Using CS4 and i'm trying to make a stencil using threshold method. I've been following a tutorial by melissaclifton if you know it but am having problems. She says to duplicate the layer, drag a solid colour between them, and then cut away the background using pen tool.
I cut the image, after inversing it, and in the thumbnail it looks ok, but in the main view nothinjg happens. I expected to be able to see the solid colour backgroud as sooon as I hit delete. Cutting the image also caused me a few problems!
Does anyone know any other stencil and/ or simple layer cutting tutorials? I've searched a lot and am starting to lose patience.. Thought it would be simple (maybe it is!).
making a spray paint/stencil look on one of my photos,
I want to have the spray paint look messy with the spray paint overlapping the edge of the stencil, and I want to have add some paint drool to make it look realistic.
how to create a stencil in Lightroom 5? I want to use a photo of myself and make a stencil of that. I have spent so much time trying to figure it out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe image below has been touched up (i have cleaned up the lines with the "line/curve tool"), and even redrawn some lines. As you can see, the background is white. How to use the background (all the white) as a "stencil". this way i can use a bold brush to "airbrush" some shading and shadows onto her body, without having to worry about it spraying outside of the lines. i know it can be done, i have done it myself in fact, i just can't remember how. I have the plug-in called "isolate lineart", just FYI.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do a black stencil over a photo. To do a black layer is easy. To do transparent shapes in that layer thus creating a stencil is easy as well. But here is my challenge...
Creating Letter Stencils. See-through transparent letters, so the picture is seen only through the letters... I don't seem to be able to choose Transparent Letters to write on the black canvas.
Is there a way I could wrap a stencil around the object ?
For instance.. on a cube.. I use the stencil, straight line to wax a hard surface.
But on the edges, it breaks because it projects from the front.
any way to wrap the stencil around the object so the line continues without breaking on the edges ?
Maybe 2.8 has this option already, ive already downloaded just not installed it. i plan on doing it when ive finished this little personal project im working on.
Im having trouble finding anyway to assign a layer as a layer mask.
this all started because i want to create a gray scale bump map of my texture map. so i duplicated it and decompose it into separate RGB gryscale layers and the alpha layer.
problem is, the alpha is no longer the alpha. what i ideally would like, is to combine the alpha with which ever combination of the channels i decide to use. then paste that back into my original file as the bump map.... so far not having luck
Is there a way to apply a stencil to an entire model at once? if you wanted a lizard to have scales all over, uniformally, and then mask them out where you wanted, is there a way to do that in one step as opposed to painting over the stencil, rotating the model, painting over the stencil, etc.. etc..?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi need to make a 'stencil' of sorts that is a solid 1.5mm thick disk (about 30mm in diameter) with 200um holes (separated by 500um - i.e. 500um distance between each hole)
Things I've tried:I tried to make a 2D footprint of this stencil and then extrude the entire thing. My computer crashed! i guess the ram needed for this is too much.
I made a 200um diameter circle, extruded it into a 1.5mm 'pillar', arrayed these pillars, then placed a 30mm diameter, 1.5mm high solid disk around the array and made a block. When i exported it to an stl format, it didn't recognize the design as a disk with holes, but as an array of pillars.
I tried to make the disk first. draw one 200um circle and presspull it to form one hole - but i can't seem to array that hole in this disk!! If I have to make an array of these circles and presspull them one at a time, i'll die before i finish the stencil.
I use Win 7 32 bits, and Gimp 2.8.2
When i go to filters-decor i see both the Stencil chrome and Stencil carve options grayed out.
I of course made sure no alpha channel is present , and my picture is black and white ( jpg).
Is there a way to get this filter to work, or do i need to go to photoshop ?
I need it to be a Sans-serif font, similar to arial type, but with the cutouts needed for stenciling. I also need numbers included. In fact, i dont even need letters, I just need numbers.
Everything I have found is either a serif style font, or doesn't include numbers.
Can a PTEX vector displacement map be used as a stencil or stamp? If not, what's the workflow for going from a PTEX sculpt to a vector displacement texture (e.g. TIFF) that can be used as a stencil / sculpt.
The problem I'm experiencing is that I sculpted a plane with PTEX and exported a PTEX vector displacement map, however, when I go to the Image Browser to attempt to use it as a stencil or stamp the PTEX file does not show up. The only files I can see in the browser are TIFF, PNG, etc. If I change the Output Options > Map Type to from PTEX to Texture I get an error: "At least on target model has been set up for PTEX. You must select PTEX format(*.ptx) for maps extracted using this target."
I would like to have a stencil out of letters, for example "sea" and then underly a picture of waves, so that the waves are only in the letters.
Do I need a special plug-in. How can I put something into its negative (black/white -> White/black)?
I am attempting to create a street art style stencil graphic to put on a t-shirt using Illustrator (note, not an actual stencil for spray painting, just the visual effect of one). I was able to make something similar in photoshop, but pixelation issues lead me to attempt a vector style graphic. The overlying "stencil" image is a complex vector object and the underlying "paint" layer is a series of semi-transparent paint splatter vector groups to get a more textured effect. I am doing it this way because, I have not been able to find any graffiti style brushes that work the same way as those in photoshop. The problem I am having is that when I attempt to make a clipping mask of these objects to be left with just the desired "paint" areas, there is a message about the complexity of this operation, and the result is total disappearance of all the objects, except for their paths. better way to get a vector graffiti stencil effect with texture?

I started to get this strange error with my Photoshop when making a new document in Photoshop and got the following error: "cannot initiate Photoshop because Photoshop cannot create any more windows".
I thought the easiest thing to do would be to reinstall (Photoshop needs reinstalling extremely often unfortunately), but now when I try and open the program it just give an alert beep and closes back up. Even though I rarely use ImageReady, I opened that up to check and it does the same behavior.
Can anyone tell me what color settings I need to set in photoshop in order to avoid this from happening? It only happens once in a while and I don't know what I've done to fix it or screw it up. What happens is that when I'm in photoshop and I do a "save for web" my document jumps to image ready and when viewing '2 up' for optimization purposes and comparison, I realize that the original view is actually duller in color and does not look like the original in photoshop. The blacks are definitely not as black.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I got my first Macintosh IICX and all of my MacPaint clip art. I don't want to get rid of the clip art because since I'm still using a black ink printer and not upgrading to a color one, the clip art looks nice in newsletters and the like.
Up until this time I had been using SuperPaint which had the New Superbits editing plug-in to refine the pictures so they had the smoother and cleaner lines instead of looking jagged. With my new computer and printer, I'm also getting Photoshop CS packaged with Adobe Creative Suite Premium, which I have never used before. Since I have not received my order yet, I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether Photoshop has the capability of improving the older MacPaint clip art like SuperPaint did with the New SuperBits editing plug-in. Over the past two days, I have been trying like crazy to back-up my pictures with SuperPaint and then re-saving them with Graphic Converter. It's been so incredibly slow that I thought I would go ahead and ask you, the experts, if Photoshop can also improve the quality of my older MacPaint clip art or if I should continue to back-up my clip art like I have been doing.
I have just got back from the Elbow gig and pulled the images off the card. They load up in Bridge but don't have actual picture thumbnails. They are named correctly, ie: IMG_3483.CR2 but they won't open!? Error message says 'Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognise this type of file'
I could see them on the back of the camera.
