May 17, 2012I have an xref file named Base.dwg. I need to replot a drawing (Overall_Road.dwg) which has Base.dwg as xref
I changed the line type of one layer in the Base.dwg file. Changed from DASHED2 to continuous line. Saved and closed Base.dwg
When I open Overall_Road.dwg, the line type doesn't update. I opened "Layer" window and under Linetype, it shows "Base|DASHED2".
How can I fix it to show the updated line type?

Nov 15, 2013I know that in ACAD you can use the xref manager to see where the actual file for the xref resides on your computer/server/etc. What I'm curious about is whether or not the inverse action is possible. Can you somehow access the file (not the output sheet where it's being xref-ed) and see what other files are using it as an xref?
I've come in on a project that is nearing completion and have been assigned the task of "cleaning up the project folder." Unfortunately, there are a ton of files in the different folders that are no longer in use on the final output sheets and I need to keep the ones still in use and archive the ones that are no longer needed. What I've been doing is going through those sheets and reviewing the xref manager for each sheet to see which files are actually put onto those sheets and making a physical checklist from which to organize my findings. Once the checklist is made, I then archive all the files that are no longer being used.

Feb 6, 2013I'm used to work with an ortographic wireframe view and a perspective shaded view (from other 3d app), I've tried to reproduce this in Max, without much success, the problem is switching between the ortographic views, the hotkeys doesn't work properly (the camera never displays what I want after switching) and the ViewCube seems somewhat better, however, when switching views using the ViewCube, sometimes it just doesn't align perfectly with the view so the grid doesn't appear, and I need the grid on the ortho viewport.My install is fully updated. I would like to know if it's possible to make it work properly, if possible with hotkeys. I've already tried to disable the animation, it seems to work a bit, but when I switch to the back view, this bug always pops in.

Mar 3, 2013I just wrote a very specific python plugin for someone who uses Gimp on OSX. The plugin doesn't appear in her menus so the installation may not be correct.
1) are there accurate instructions to install python plugins somewhere (preferably in the user's Gimp profile)? Is there a need to set some "executable" flag on the file (and if so how)?
2) in case the plugin doesn't register properly due to some syntax error, is there a way to check that out? On Linux one would start Gimp form a terminal, on Windows I believe gimp-console does it, but hat is the equivalent on OSX?
3) can some knowledgeable OSX user test that my plugin works correctly (PM me a mail address where I can send the plugin)

Photoshop :: Color Range Doesn't Work Properly In CS3
Oct 19, 2008I have a problem with CS3. Since a few weeks I can't use properly "Colour Range" feature.
Especially for bright colour the Colour Range doesn't select what I want to select. For example I want to select a bright cloud and can't select it with Colour Range. Of course I checked if there is any information or I have a burn area. I use several different setting but I still have the problem.
I used 8/16 bit, Adobe RGB/sRGB
At Colour Range I use:
- Sampled colours
- Selection
- Fuzziness: how much I need it
- Selection preview: None
AutoCAD LT :: Array Doesn't Display Properly In Viewport
Dec 21, 2012I have and array that looks fine in model space but when viewed in a viewport from paperspace, sections of the array look like they are wiped out. Going back to model space everything looks fine. The only way I can get it to fill in is to delete the viewport and create another one. It's then fine for awhile but before long, areas are missing again. I've redone the viewport three times and it's starting to drive me nuts.

Now, sometimes I want to flatten my 3D drawing and show my obscured lines and make them dashed afterwards. With the flatten command and explode it works fine... but... some lines just move! For example, a block with size 100,200,100 turns into a square with size 100.9 x 199.3, even if I use the command in 100% top view!

Feb 14, 2014Cross dissolve will not fade out clips correctly. It gets down to 10-15% opacity on the last frame and that's the lowest it goes. During playback, you can see how abrupt the fade is.
Ticking the "Composite in Linear Color" sometimes improves it, but it's still not a smooth fade. Why is it that I can manually add opacity keyframes to fix this problem (regardless of "comp"), but cross dissolve cannot do a smooth fade?
The following are screenshots of the last frame before the clip ends. The cross dissolve is 30 frames long.My system is i5, 560GTX, CUDA enabled, PP CC 7.2.1, Windows 8.1.

With a white background, comp enabled is a bit better, but you can still see the content. I'd expect another frame or two before a complete fade. Black background, last frame, Composite not enabled:
Again, I'd expect another frame or two before total darkness. Oddly enough, after adding and deleting opacity keyframes and switching comp on and off, I managed to get a nice smooth fade with comp OFF with the above example. Some kind of bug? AutoCad 2D :: Xref PDF Doesn't Print

AutoCAD 2013 Windows XP I have a drawing (Drawing A) that contains a PDF (using PDF attach) with text over the of it. I then have this drawing Xref'd into another drawing (Drawing B) in model space. When I print this drawing (Drawing B). The text prints but the pdf does not.
Photoshop :: Selecting With Colour Range Doesn't Work Properly
Sep 18, 2012If I have elements on separate levels and I use the colour range option to select the area, it works on all the levels, not just the level I have selected. That's not what I want! I only want it to select the colour range on that one level. The work around is to manually turn off other levels, but on a file with lots of levels, that can be tedious. Can this be avoided? Incidentally, magic wand works only on the selected level, but not colour range (or color range, if you are American).

Aug 31, 2012There is still an issue with making new actions that include saving for web. While recording the action, save for web functions as it should. But once the action is played, regardless of the original format the saved image should be, it gives it an html filename extension.

I have spoken about this bug with a friend that is a computer programmer. Considering that the action is saving the file correctly, and it's only the name that is not saving properly indicates that this is a superficial error, and not an issue that would require rewriting the code completely. Also consider that this WAS functioning properly in CS5, and that this is a very easily reproducible bug.

Mar 22, 2012I need to print this drawing and I cannot get either print to PDF or print to printer working properly.
I was asked to create a local area map of the site and i used a google map image as the map. I have a paper space layout with labels and the company title block, with a raster image reference in the model space viewport, when I go to print this drawing using plot PDF the image comes out so grainy it's useless. When I plot to printer the paper space layout comes out great but only a slice of the raster image is printed.
No indication of problems can be seen in autocad's preview mode, and this doesn't happen outside of Autocad- I can open the image and have it print to PDF clearly, and I can open the image and print to printer without problems.

The image is supposed to fill the whole viewport, but most of the viewport is blank.

Everything works fine except when I choose "Edit in Photoshop CS6", work on the image in Photoshop then save it. It gets saved back to the same folder as the original file, but when I tab back to Lightroom it just shows a square tile with a question mark instead of the new file. Tapping on the exclamation mark reveals that Lightroom thinks the new file is supposed to be in /Users/Lightroom Photos/…
For example the dialog box might say:
“_DSC3047-Edit.tif” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?
Previous location: /Users/Lightroom Photos/2012/2012-12-08/_DSC3047-Edit.tif
When in reality the original and the edit are both in /Volumes/Users/Lightroom Photos/2012/2012-12-08/ and there is not, and never was a /Users/Lightroom Photos/…
That is, something about saving back from Photoshop stripped off the "/Volumes/" from the beginning of the path. I can choose Locate and find it right where it should be and it will show up. Once it shows up the image tile shows the image but has an exclamation mark; tapping on that brings up a dialog box that says:

This is on a Mac and so /Users does exist but that maps to /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users. I wonder if either LR or PS is confused by there being a /Users and a /Volumes/Users.
Editing in a Nik Plugin (e.g. Silver Efx) works properly, FWIW.
I am using LR4.2 and PS CS6 13.0.1 on OS X 10.8.2.

When doing a crossfade between video clips, the audio crossfades just fine in the preview of the edit screen in X4. However, after exporting to DVD 14:9 format, in the resulting MPG video the audio of the first clip correctly fades out, while the audio of the second clip doesn't fade in... it just jumps in.
Paint Shop Pro :: Editing New Layer Doesn't Refresh Properly With 64bit X6
Dec 3, 2013I have been doing some very simple editing of photo's taking a copy from part of one and pasting it as a new layer on another photo. I can then manipulate the size, placement and orientation easily with my X4 version of PSP.
I just purchased the new x6 and am ASTONISHED that this simple exercise doesn't work at all in the 64 bit version and only partially in the 32bit version of x6. What happens is that the screen isn't redrawing the changes as you move the pasted part around. It can be refreshed manually but gets into such a mess when you are trying to place the image that it's unusable. I go back to X4 and using exact same photo's I can work without any problem.
I'm on win7 ultimate all upto date and an 8800 GTS graphics card with latest drivers. There should be no reason x4 works and x6 does not.
