AutoCAD 2010 :: Loading Images In XREF
Jun 11, 2013If I have an image within in an XREF (lets say logo in a titleblock), when I open my drawing I get a image frame with the file path listed in its place. If I print, it only prints the frame and file path.
The way that this is fixed (temporarily) is If I reload the xref and image for each xref containing an image. Upon reopening the drawing, the same problem persists. I need to reload the xref/image every time I open the file if I want the logo to print on my drawing.

Nov 22, 2013working with 2014 acad and i have made myself a partial CUI. it is really only one extra tab on the ribbon with a few of the standard panels i use in one place. nothing to out there. so here is a step by step of what i did to get this cui file.
entered comannd CUI in command prompt.
went to "Transfer" tab in the CUI dialog box
on the left panel it is "Main Customisation File (acad.cuix)"
on the right panel i created a new CUI file.
then right clicked the "Ribbons" path and created new "Josh's Tab"
then transfered the panels across i wanted
then saved the cui as "Josh's CUI.cuix"
then loaded the .cuix file via the "CUILOAD" command
at first nothing at all happened, so i unloaded and reloaded it. then closed and opened acad again. still nothing
so i loaded it and unloaded it a few times again. so i went back to "CUI" and had a look at my partial and it hadn't saved anything.
so i created a new tab again "Josh's Tab"
transfered the panels again and saved the file then loaded and reloaded the .cuix
when i loaded it acad "blinked" while it reloaded all the CUIs and my tab was there but no panels. i had another look at the CUI and the panels are there but not showing in the ribbon.
i have done this from 2009-2012/13 (can't remember which i was last using) and never had a problem. i have been away from Acad for the last 16months though so i figure i have just forgotten one simple step somewhere. I have the current SP installed also.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Express Tools Not Loading Properly
May 16, 2013Initially we got an error message stating: "error: no function definition: VLAX-USER-PRODUCT-KEY".We did some trouble shooting ourselves with information obtained via several web searches, involving the following:
1) Adding .fas files from the Express directory to the appload.
2) Reloading the acetmain.cuix via menuload (had to unload it first, since it was apparently already loaded)
3) Removing and re-adding Express Tools via Programs & Features (Add/Remove programs)
4) Reinstalling AutoCAD 2014
5) Running (vl-load-com) from the command line (no effect)
6) Running expressmenu and expresstools from the commandline (says it's successful).
then we are now getting "error: no function definition: VLAX-MACHINE-PRODUCT-KEY"..The registry keys appear to be OK, and I am seriously at the end of my tether. I have pretty much tried everything I could find to no avail.
AutoCAD 2013 :: More Than 10 XREF Not Loading?
Jan 29, 2013I need to load 11 xref in my project but seems like in autocad 2013 more than 10 xref is not allowed, it keeps on rejecting the 11th reference without prompting any error.
I have tried to save the drawings in lower version and do the same procedure and it works, i therefore conclude that the issue is with 2013 version.
saving in lower version everytime we receive new xref is really time consuming and painful for hundred of drawings.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Xref's Not Loading In Profile?
Feb 20, 2013I am having a issue when I open a drawing with a profile or a surface xreferenced into it, the profile drawing or the surface drawing needs to be reloaded every time in order for it to appear. This becomes very cumbersome when we try to publish a set and have numerous plan and profile sheets and then the profile doesn’t appear. We have six identical machines in our office with Civil 3D 2013 on them and out of the six two of them have this happen on a regular basis. If I were to go over to the other four machines, there are no issues when we open the drawing or publishing. Is there a setting in AutoCAD that we are overlooking?

Sep 14, 2013It appears that once I bring in an xref from another firm, I cannot not get it to display properly on screen. It was working on a previous drawing and now it doesn't. I know this explaination isn't very clear so I have attached two files that are print screens of my model space and my paperspace.

Mar 25, 2013The original model, in shade visual style, all objects are distinct and separate objects as they should be. However, when an xref is loaded (overlay) the model (display) jumps and the objects that were distinct now appear mingled together. Also, when you hover over an object it's highlight outline does not align with the object, it is offset from it approximately the amount of the display jump. I compared display and visual style settings from other model drawings that did not have this problem but came up with nothing that worked. More than one model drawing on this particular project created by another discipline has this problem, whereas on a previous project models by another discipline never had this problem and neither do models created within my dicipline.

After importing and xref object i close max. Then, when I am trying to open max with xrefobject i get an error. I unchecked the "automatic update" option, with to effect- still max cant open the scene and gimme an error.

May 31, 2012started a new job after being out of the biz for a couple of years and would like to load some sweet dvb files that I grew accustomed to in my prior life. I can appload my .lsp files with the the best of them but these dang dvb's have me wishin' they were .lsp! The dvb's were at one time lisp routines but were turned into dvbs by a power user somewhere along the line. What's my avenue for success at ever getting to use these sweeties again?

Feb 13, 2012I have an intermittent issue with AUTOCAD 2012 on new 64bit W7 PCs.
The issue is that sometimes when first opening AutoCAD it stops at the splash screen and says loading template at 0%.
We have to stop ACAD.exe and restart the PC, sometime it'll be fine after a single re-boot, this morning it took 3.
This is happening (intermittently) on 3 of 7 new Dell PC's.
If it was an issue with the ACAD.dwt, which we're loading from a central location and have been using for years, I would have thought it would be a consistent problem, not an occasional one.

Oct 2, 2012"Open in viewer when done" is checked. I've unchecked it and rechecked it but the Adobe Reader does not launch after plotting in background completes. It does launch when plotting directly to the DWG to PDF.pc3 plotter. What am I missing?

Jun 24, 2012why our copies of AutoCAD MEP 2012 seem to hang when loading the default dwt files? On the splash screen it details all the files being loaded and when it gets to the dwt file it just hangs at 0%. In the windows task manager, acad.exe stops using memory (around 90megs) and the cpu stops too. It's get's really frustrating, especially as it only seems to affect our new Dell Optiplex's and a couple of our old Dell Precisions. Some of them work first time every time, no probs. All PC's are Windows 7 Pro 64bit and running the latest service packs for AutoCAD.

Jul 18, 2012I'm the IT nerd and haven't used autocad before, but i'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with one of our users who is having this issue. From what I have seen, when he loads a drawing, I can see a whole heap of unidentified object messages down the bottom. The drawing loads, but it's missing all the text (mostly the dimensions).
He's told me that he can load it 4 or 5 times, and it will show up, but it fails more than it works.

Feb 21, 2013I am currently using AutoCAD 2012 and having problems with the STRETCH command.When I select 3 lines, then deselect 1 of them lines and then select the STRETCH command it does not stretch the selected lines.
Now this is the way I have done in it in previous versions and it has worked. (AutoCAD 2010). Our Company has recently moved to 2012.Is this a function that has been removed with this version or am I doing something wrong?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Drawing Lineweights Not Displaying Properly
Oct 31, 2013I'm having an issue with some of my drawings where the all the lineweights appear much too thick on the screen. When I plot the drawing or look at a print preview the lineweights appear correct, but in model space they appear much too thick.
I found the option to show / hide lineweights, and when I toggle this option from show to hide it seemingly fixes the issue, but when I pan or zoom on the drawing the think lineweights come back.
Why this is happening, even with show lineweights enabled they should not be displaying this thick as every line on the drawing is default lineweight, and the default is set at 0.25mm, I have the exact settings on different drawings but they dont have this display issue.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Wrap Field Text From DWG Properly
Jan 16, 2012Is there a way to force text pulled from a drawing property to wrap to fit a cell of Mtext? In otherwords,... a multi line field? Some of our drawing titles are several lines, and instead of wrapping inside the field box in our titleblock, the text just spreads out all over. I'd rather not go back to the old method of having a custom property for Line 1, Line 2 etc....

Oct 25, 2012On ACAD versions higher than 2005 the STRETCH command does not work properly. The problem happens when selecting the items from the left to right. The item is MOVED instead of STRETCHED. It works normally when selecting item from Right to Left. However I need it to work from Left to Right so that I can individually select the item that I want to stretch. Because of this, I am still using 2005. Both 2009 and 2012 have this BUG, making them un-usable for my applications. I just got a new computer with 2012 version only, but I can't use it. I am trying to get 2005 installed on it now.

Qsave does work but I would prefer not to use it due to sharing drawing xrefs with others means that they constantly have to keep reloading the xrefs
Have tried reinstalling autocad but that doesn't make it work.
Currently have a NVIDIA Quadrow 3500 which is probably not the correct one.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Flatten Doesn't Work Properly
Oct 22, 2013I'm using ACAD (2011) most of the time in 3D. I like to work that way and it goes really fast!
Now, sometimes I want to flatten my 3D drawing and show my obscured lines and make them dashed afterwards. With the flatten command and explode it works fine... but... some lines just move! For example, a block with size 100,200,100 turns into a square with size 100.9 x 199.3, even if I use the command in 100% top view!
