AutoCAD 2010 :: Custom CUIX Files Not Loading Images
Apr 5, 2013I have added a few custom autocad commands that are specific to my scenario. I created Ribbon (and Menu for classic mode) for these commands and they are working fine. The only issue is that these Buttons (Ribbon and Menu for classic mode) are not loading the images(icons). All I get is a cloud image for both commands.
I have used 16X16 for small image and 32X32 for large image. Both are bmp files. These are attached to the custom Autocad command that I am using. The commands themselves are working fine, except for the image which is not displayed. In short, what can be the possible reason for images not showing up?

Jun 5, 2013We are using .cuix file which gives access to tools in custom .arx file in AutoCAD 2012/2013. We load the menu using the .bundle mechanism and the plug-in - using button from the menu. If the user is Administrator (or executes AutoCAD as Administrator) the menu, toolbars and ribbons are loaded correctly and the user can load and unload the application (lisp function in .mnl file is used for that), but if the user is not an administrator either the menu, toolbars and ribbons are not correctly loaded or they are loaded, but the user can not load the application.
We have found that a probable cause for this behaviour is that AutoCAD tries to create/renew the .mnr file when first loading a .cuix file and since the user has no administrator rights this can't be done in the "C:Program FilesAutodeskApplicationPlugins" folder where the bundle is and AutoCAD creates the .mnr file in its own support folder ("C:Users<User>AppDataRoamingAutodeskAutoCAD 2012R18.2...Support") together with a copy of the .cuix file and changes the path for loading the .cuix file to this location. Since the .mnl file containing the function for loading/unloading is not copied with the .cuix file the application can not be loaded.
The user has to delete the created files under the support path of AutoCAD, unload the .cuix file and then reload it from the correct location to resolve the problem. Restarting AutoCAD leads to the same problem.
Is there a way to prevent this behavior other then running AutoCAD as administrator (that is not always an option)?
AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Menu Swapping - Migrating To CUIX From MNS
Jan 1, 2010I read Robert Bell's document “Migrating from MNU to the CUI” (Autodesk University 2007) with interest. I have been using 2005 up until now and I am finally forcing myself to get to grips with 2010.
I managed to get it to work after much trial and error through the CUI transfer interface.My customizing makes use of a lot of swapping pull-down menus, which swap in and out based on current later setting.A typical command would be:
(MENUCMD "P15=RCASPOPS.mfireeqp") where RCASPOPS is my swapping menu loaded at POP15.
Then I would use (MENUCMD "P15=*") to force the “mfireeqp” area of the pull-down menu to display.Trouble is, when I CUIload RCASPOPS, it does not seem to recognize the various areas of the menu.Here is a part of that subsection of RCASPOPS:

Typically the whole of RCASPOPS is loaded but when I try to force it to display, the whole of it pops on the screen (well, the top of the file does anyway) and not just the subsection I want.
Is this a syntax issue with the newer AutoCad?Also notice that I use the -> and <- for fly-out sections of the menu - is there a syntax issue with this? I notice that the future support of drop down swapping menus is not guaranteed. What is the alternative?

The function to use is (workspacelist) which returns a list of workspace names, similar to (layoutlist) for retrieving a list of Layout names.
The functionality for extracting "WorkspaceRoot.cui" from .cuix requires copying the .cuix to .zip so that it can be accessed as a Windows compressed (zipped) folder which the Windows object "Shell.Application" provides.
Please rename the attachment to .lsp
I received the following error when I tried to post the .lsp: "The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type."
AutoCAD 2010 :: ARG To CUIX
Jul 27, 2013I have 2007 at the office and 2012 at home.
I would like to migrate the 2007 .arg file into my 2012 version but when I do this the .arg file needs to be a .cuix file.u
I've tried the migrate from previous version but that registers the old 2006 version I have on my machine.
How to get this customization from the .arg file into the correct cuix file. I will want to have this be the enterprise customization.
AutoCAD 2010 :: 2012 Crashes Loading DWT File?
Jun 24, 2012why our copies of AutoCAD MEP 2012 seem to hang when loading the default dwt files? On the splash screen it details all the files being loaded and when it gets to the dwt file it just hangs at 0%. In the windows task manager, acad.exe stops using memory (around 90megs) and the cpu stops too. It's get's really frustrating, especially as it only seems to affect our new Dell Optiplex's and a couple of our old Dell Precisions. Some of them work first time every time, no probs. All PC's are Windows 7 Pro 64bit and running the latest service packs for AutoCAD.

They have appeared in the customisation area and in the current Workspace and I have turned on the menus I require and no error is returnned, however when I go to the drawing screen none of the customised menus or ribbon tabs have appeared. I have performed an Autocad LT repair and also a reinstall from the add/remove programs and I have also tried a different .CUIX file but still no luck.

Oct 17, 2013i start in a new position for a new company noticed they have several cuix menu files for blocks such as structural shapes and weld symbols. so i loaded the menus with menuload and map to the directory of the blocks reference in the options files tab, but when i select the menu if has the block mapped to a different drive that does not exist. how can i change it to when i select, for say a w6x9 to map to the correct block on the correct drive instead of mapping it to some s: drive the directory structure is correct but the drive letter is not.

May 1, 2012I recently upgraded to 2012 but forgot to install the express tools, Doh!. I installed them through control panel repair and everything works. Except when I close and restart ACAD the menu bar express menu disappears. I can bring it back by using cuiload but this is not ideal. Any way to get it to stick?

Apr 7, 2012I have some legacy menus that are quite large. I have tried to create a new workspace, and that seemed to work o.k.
UNTIL I used menuload to try to load the old menu. At the point all the defualt workspaces were wiped out somehow.
I would like to have access to both the default workspaces and then also by switching to a custom workspace, my legacy menus.

AutoCAD LT :: Loading Dvb Files In 2010?
May 31, 2012started a new job after being out of the biz for a couple of years and would like to load some sweet dvb files that I grew accustomed to in my prior life. I can appload my .lsp files with the the best of them but these dang dvb's have me wishin' they were .lsp! The dvb's were at one time lisp routines but were turned into dvbs by a power user somewhere along the line. What's my avenue for success at ever getting to use these sweeties again?

Feb 13, 2012I have an intermittent issue with AUTOCAD 2012 on new 64bit W7 PCs.
The issue is that sometimes when first opening AutoCAD it stops at the splash screen and says loading template at 0%.
We have to stop ACAD.exe and restart the PC, sometime it'll be fine after a single re-boot, this morning it took 3.
This is happening (intermittently) on 3 of 7 new Dell PC's.
If it was an issue with the ACAD.dwt, which we're loading from a central location and have been using for years, I would have thought it would be a consistent problem, not an occasional one.

Oct 2, 2012"Open in viewer when done" is checked. I've unchecked it and rechecked it but the Adobe Reader does not launch after plotting in background completes. It does launch when plotting directly to the DWG to PDF.pc3 plotter. What am I missing?

Jun 11, 2013If I have an image within in an XREF (lets say logo in a titleblock), when I open my drawing I get a image frame with the file path listed in its place. If I print, it only prints the frame and file path.
The way that this is fixed (temporarily) is If I reload the xref and image for each xref containing an image. Upon reopening the drawing, the same problem persists. I need to reload the xref/image every time I open the file if I want the logo to print on my drawing.

Jul 18, 2012I'm the IT nerd and haven't used autocad before, but i'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with one of our users who is having this issue. From what I have seen, when he loads a drawing, I can see a whole heap of unidentified object messages down the bottom. The drawing loads, but it's missing all the text (mostly the dimensions).
He's told me that he can load it 4 or 5 times, and it will show up, but it fails more than it works.
