I don't know what went wrong with that View. I can create polygon planes properly in all views but top view.What can I do to make it function again when I set up the Project.this problem occurs everytime when I set up Image Planes for the top, side and front view. URL...

I'm pretty sure that 'Keep faces together' when extruding does not work correctly in 2012. Well not on my mac anyhow. If you wish to replicate my problem here is my workflow-
Create cube poly > make some subdivisions> select some faces> extrude with 'keep faces together" unchecked> Select a face and use move tool, notice that faces will move apart as they should> Now select some more faces> extrude with 'keep faces together' checked this time> select a face and use move tool> notice how face is still separate as it SHOULD NOT be.

I'm currently working on a model and there are a few faces that need extruding. Whenever I go to extrude them rather than just adding to the face it simply takes the face moves it back (or forward) and adds sides to it, so rather than being a solid extrude it's a concave area.

i'm having a lot of troubles with a free rig i downloaded at creativecrash [URL]. I'll keep it short as i have quite a lot of things to explain: I animated my shot, and everything was ok. Now i have to shade/light/render my shot using vray, trying to create brand new vray materials; I started from my robot-character. Here comes the problems: - I can't select the polygon geometry(i asked the rigger, and he said the geometry were imported as references at rigging time). There are no geometry layers in reference or template, then there must be somthing else causing me the problem. I can access to the object via hypershade, i can click on the shape node and i can see the geometry selected, but then, when i try to access faces, i can't select them!in no way. This means i can't create selections for materials, and so i can't shade as i liked. I tried to selecte faces using the select by materials feature in the hypershade (as the character has some pre created basic materials)but again, i'm not free to assign materials where i want, and i just can use the pre-existing face selections and work on those, but it's not enough for me. I'm used to work with an ortographic wireframe view and a perspective shaded view (from other 3d app), I've tried to reproduce this in Max, without much success, the problem is switching between the ortographic views, the hotkeys doesn't work properly (the camera never displays what I want after switching) and the ViewCube seems somewhat better, however, when switching views using the ViewCube, sometimes it just doesn't align perfectly with the view so the grid doesn't appear, and I need the grid on the ortho viewport.My install is fully updated. I would like to know if it's possible to make it work properly, if possible with hotkeys. I've already tried to disable the animation, it seems to work a bit, but when I switch to the back view, this bug always pops in.

I have a problem with CS3. Since a few weeks I can't use properly "Colour Range" feature.
Especially for bright colour the Colour Range doesn't select what I want to select. For example I want to select a bright cloud and can't select it with Colour Range. Of course I checked if there is any information or I have a burn area. I use several different setting but I still have the problem.
I used 8/16 bit, Adobe RGB/sRGB
At Colour Range I use:
- Sampled colours
- Selection
- Fuzziness: how much I need it
- Selection preview: None

I'm using ACAD (2011) most of the time in 3D. I like to work that way and it goes really fast!
Now, sometimes I want to flatten my 3D drawing and show my obscured lines and make them dashed afterwards. With the flatten command and explode it works fine... but... some lines just move! For example, a block with size 100,200,100 turns into a square with size 100.9 x 199.3, even if I use the command in 100% top view!

If I have elements on separate levels and I use the colour range option to select the area, it works on all the levels, not just the level I have selected. That's not what I want! I only want it to select the colour range on that one level. The work around is to manually turn off other levels, but on a file with lots of levels, that can be tedious. Can this be avoided? Incidentally, magic wand works only on the selected level, but not colour range (or color range, if you are American).

There is still an issue with making new actions that include saving for web. While recording the action, save for web functions as it should. But once the action is played, regardless of the original format the saved image should be, it gives it an html filename extension.

I have spoken about this bug with a friend that is a computer programmer. Considering that the action is saving the file correctly, and it's only the name that is not saving properly indicates that this is a superficial error, and not an issue that would require rewriting the code completely. Also consider that this WAS functioning properly in CS5, and that this is a very easily reproducible bug.

previously i was using civil 3d 2010, now while i am using 2012. i want to create a grid of points with easting and northing. i have manually created a point but when i use array command it does not work properly. as u can see in this image.
i created point with proper values of easing and northing but after array easing northing values becomes just -19.

I made a slide show in Elements 11 that will play from elements beautifully. I have burned it to cd 3 times and still it will not open, on the same computer. Says it will not open because it is the wrong type of file. What am I doing wrong? when I open it in Elements, it is exactly what I wanted. I need a cd to play at a graduation party, but it just WON'T work..

If I click on an eye symbol the symbol disappears, but not the elements on the screen like you should expect. There's also a weird behavior with the lock symbols. If I lock a layer, I can click the paths anyway. The lock symbols doesn't work anymore. The whole layers palette is useless now. I tried to remove the whole "Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings" folder, but that had no positive effect.

I am working on an assembly that is designed around a box (bounding box) that could change size. I modeled the bounding box and placed it in a new assembly file. All other parts have been created within the assembly by referencing that bounding box with starting work plane and project geometry.
The problem comes in when I change the bounding box dimensions. The work planes for each additional part, which were defined by the faces of the bounding box, do not move when the sides move. Also, my projected geometry is not updating correctly. This is a simple box, with all 90° corners. So, all associated parts (at this point) are just rectangles.

I'm using the Morpheus rig (fantastic rig, by the way) in Maya 2014 and would like to select all of the control curve shapes so that I can place them in a display layer (an easy way to turn all the NURBS curves on the rig invisible without turning my parented props invisible, too!).
In order to do this, I cannot simply shift-click all of the control curves. I need to select all of these curves' shape nodes (which are appended with "_animShape"). I attempted to select them all by entering "*_animShape*" (without quotes, of course) into the Input Box, but I receive the "No object matches name" error. I also tried "select -r *_animShape*" in the Command Line, to no avail.
I do not want to have to spend 30 minutes to an hour scouring the Outliner for every single shape node (mind you, it's a very complex and sophisticated character rig!). Am I using wildcards incorrectly? how I can select all of these nodes at once?

I'm trying to mirror some geometry in my Maya model of Warrior.I do this by duplication special in X axis. I get the geometry duplicated..but it is also rotated around Z axis.
I don’t want this rotation. I had this problem also before on some other geometry...but I solved it with Freeze geometry. The problem was that the geometry axis system was rotated. I think this is caused whit Mudbox because I was using also Mudbox and I rotated the geometry there.
Now the Freeze function doesn’t work. The axis system is still shifted. How I can set this axis system to the one that is set in Maya? Or duplicate it whit the Axis system set in Maya ?

Ever since I started to take 2d personalised icons and create them in 3d, Ive only ever known of one method to do it:
1- create a work path in Photoshop or Illustrator
2- save it as a 'path to illustrator'
3- import this in to Maya
4- select the work path then go to surfaces> plane options box. In there, I would usually go for the poly option, with quads and create a count of the maximum faces (1000)
5- hit create and I would get what Maya's best results were and simply, tidy up and remodel the surface accordingly.
Then, a friend of mine said, why dont you use Cinema 4D to do that. He showed me the work flow, and its SO much easier. Not only does the work path import into Cinema 4D, with a perfect outline of the icon BUT you can also create a poly perfectly. With no tidying necessary.
Why cant Maya do that? Or can it, and Ive just not found the best method?
Ive attached an image. The icon to the furthest left is a FBX import(created in Cinema 4D)of a final version of the 3d icon. And the centre work path is an .ai file, created in photoshop and to the right of it, is the poly model with a plane surface on it.

Is there a way to select either vertices on a polygon or points on a curve and create an object at those points?
The snapping of objects to curve points isn't very accurate, so if possible, the above would greatly speed up my workflow.

I was following a tut on how to create text and all was working well then I decided to delete my text from the viewing panel and start again and now I cannot create any text because I get this message - / Error: bevelPlus3 (Bevel Plus): Group 2 curve 2 is not inside the previous curve. Group these curves appropriately in Adobe (R) Illustrator (R)
What does this mean?? Im not even using illustrator! If I delete the word and write another one it seems to be ok but if I want to create my original word I get the same message again? Also the text doesn't look very good, some of the letters are sort of squashed or rubbing on others or the hollow parts missing etc.

Right now, I am thinking about just modeling the base shape of how everything will look, and then applying Maya fur to the necessary faces. i'm using 3ds max 2014, i'd recently installed it, and i've problems with the "conform" tool in the graphite modelling tools. i select the mesh i want to draw on, but the tool doesn't fit my mesh how i want, it just move it around the viewport with no sense. Iwas working in 3ds 2012, and it never happend

i already searched for a similiar problem, but I did not find any.. I'm new to 3ds Max and im using 2014.
I created a spline from a shape, which is the upper spline. The lower spline is created by the create line option. With refine i added a few vertexes.
Now i want to connect the vertexes but it doesnt work. The only 2 vertexes that are connectable when i click on connect (a little + appears when I hover those vertexes) is the lower right and the lower left. When I use cross section, all the vertexes connect anyhow, but not the way I want it.
