Revit :: Syntax Error In Pattern File Attachment
Mar 15, 2011
Now is the pattern problem in hands! I try to attach patterns to wall: Materials, Cut pattern, New, Drafting pattern, Custom, Import:
And path: C/Program files/Autodesk/Revit Architecture 2011/Data
And there: Revit.pat (or any other *.pat file that I have).
And there it comes: An error! Syntax error in line 2 or 12 or 10 ? What has happened? Before I was managed to attach patterns ok. To an other project I mean.
Where on earth is the problem? In the project? The whole program? In the pattern file?

I cannot seem to open .dwg files from an email using AutoCAD LT 2010
I get an error saying c:users"username" empoutlookj0814-052.dwg is currently in use or is read only.
Would you like to open the file ready-only?
I can save the file then open it. But the user wants to open the attachment straight from the email.
I've tried changing the attributes on the folder from read only but this doesn't work, tried another profile, again this doesn't work.
It does seem to only effect .dwg files when opening with AutoCAD LT 2010. If someone sends an xls, .doc, .pdf attachment they all open OK, I'm sure this is an AutoCAD LT 2010 issue. I have downloaded and installed both hotfixes / patches from the autodesk website and reinstalled the software but this hasn't worked either.

On a view of a wall detail, I added a flashing with a Detail Line which shows only on that view specific detail. The flashing is at the bottom of a wood stud and brick wall in which the brick was added with a repeating detail. Now I want to move slightly the flashing a little lower from where I originally put it, but by doing so the brick also moves and I do not want the brick to move.
I assume something is locked or joined there. My question; How to detach the flashing from the brick so only the flashing line moves?

We have this problem at the moment with an Microsoft excel file that appears to have become stuck in the External references list, Ref C1-01-06. We would like to remove it if possible as it is now superseded (we can't change the file name unfortunately. What do we do if we can't reload, detach or bind? Its not referenced into anything else that is attached to the file, it is a direct attachment of the file that we are in.

I'm trying to utilize Revit ability to link an IES file as a lighting source in a lighting family. I'm running Revit Architecturer 2009. The ies files i downloaded from the manufacturer website produce an image inconsistent with what i would expect a light source to provide, instead of the "white" light, i get a red/green/black/blue image. I can link any of the ies files that are provide with Revit, and they work fine. it's only this Manufacturer provide file that's causing the error.

Often when I open a project I ahve been woking on alone I get the following message:
"This file is already open for editing by another user. You will be unable to save any changes before that user closes the file."
Since I am working on the project alone there are no other users who could have the file open. I don't know why I'm getting this message.

Trying to create a dynamic block that will multiply the number of neutral and ground blocks as it's stretched.
My power terminal strips can contain 1 to unknown number of circuit breakers, and each circuit breaker requires a neutral and a ground block.
All the similar items in a stip are grouped together, all the circuit breakers, then the neutrals than the grounds.
So depending on how many circuit breakers I have I'll need the same number of neutrals and grounds, but grouped together.
In the attached block I added the stretch action to move the end cover and end stop of the strip down, but don't know how array/space/stretch the neutrals and grounds so they're grouped together.
The ciruict breakers aren't shown as they can be from different manufacturers and therefore different widths.
Tried attaching my block file but get this error message:
"The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type."

when I am trying to synchronizing to central I get a message twice saying "inches to the fourth power." then another message saying "file not saved."so then I find myself having to exit revit and start over with a new local file.
I did notice that when one person had a view or sheet open that I needed to work on that is when the error came up the most. so when the three of us would complete a task we would have to synchronize right after that task e.g. if I had several lights to place on the RCP I would place one light and synchronize and then place another light and synchronize. If I tried to do too much or waited too long to synchronize the error would come up.

I have the same problem getting floors to show surface patterns too. Using Revit 2011. A friend gets it to work on his computer with the same version.

This is quite weird because revit architecture 2013 is showing this error. In order to see beam in my architectural layout, we are changing the cut plane value in the view range. With this step I can see the beam but not the cut pattern of the beam..very weird. Also, one more thing, just to check I copy pasted beam modeled in revit 2011 in revit 2013 and I could see the cut pattern. So is something wrong with 2013 beam revit family?

I am trying to (among other things) move a pathpoint that was added on a pathitem rectangle. The add of the pathitem goes well, the add of the pathpoint to the rectangle is fine, although when it it is "added" it picks some arbitrary position, hence the need to change the position, starting with the anchor.
I typically write in VB.NET (2013), as I am doing here. Using Illustrator CS6.
In VBScript, documentation shows:
newPoint.Anchor = Array(75, 300)
Using that syntax, I get a pre-complier error in VB.NET, as "Array" is a type and can't be used as an expression. To create an inline array in VB.NET, I would normally use:
newPoint.Anchor = {75, 300}
Using this syntax, I get a runtime COM-exception error.

I am trying to find out how the drafting pattern origin is determined in Revit 2013. A model pattern is very easy to adjust, but this is not true of a drafting patterns. How the drafting patterns even determine what their origin is. Is it centered on a project extents - therefore changing as the model expands, or is it set by a 0,0,0 origin similar to AutoCAD (but hidden). In an event it does not seem that this origin is adjustable (unless someone out there knows some Revit magic) so perhaps it does not matter, but I would like to know.

How to change the dimensions of the chosen pattern,
In the screenshot below, I wanted the block pattern to be 0.26x0.5 instead of 0.225x0.450. Is that possible?
I tried to see if the dimensions can be edited but sounds no opting to do this sort of work.
Software: AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD M3D, Revit
Windows 7 (Ultimate 64 bits),
Firefox 20.0,
Kaspersky 2013.

I'm having trouble getting the visibility of walls within toposurfaces to display correctly. Please see the two attached images, showing a wall extending into a sloped grade. I have a plan view which in some areas shows the wall above grade, and in other areas shows the wall below grade. The red line through image 2 shows the approximate cut line of the plan view shown on image 1. The problem is that the toposurface pattern extends through the interior of the solid wall, in areas where the wall is buried below grade. The plan view display is set to Hidden Line, not Wireframe, and the wall is not set to display as transparent. I want the wall's geometry to cut out the toposurface - you'd see the concrete hatch on the wall, but not the fill pattern of the topography.

I think that if I go back to my original pattern, it will go away. I've tried restarting Revit and various other matierals in other projects on different types of families in both the surface and cut pattern prompts. How do I chage my patterns?

I am having trouble on how to show the brick pattern on my 3d views. Some shows some do not, only the shade color. i am exporting or printing to pdf these 3d images under consistent shade mode no shadows. I tried flipping wall orientations, didn't work. Apparently when v viewing afar the patterns do not show, when zooming in to the view they show up. but the savifn the current 3d viewing with the patterns partly showing yields the same output prints.
