Mar 11, 2013I am trying to work out how to rotate a pattern swatch without that rotation affecting all the other pattern swatches on my palette. I don't want the rotation to apply to just one instance of fill, I want to edit the actual swatch so that whenever it is used in the future, that rotation is applied.
I have tried the obvious - eg going to object, transform, pattern only... and it works, but it also rotates all my other swatches; and I can't work out if it's rotating it for just that object or if it's actually updating the pattern swatch orientation.
Additionally some comprehensive tutorials on making patterns using the updated CS6 software - everything I've found so far just raises further questions for me. I'm talking about, for example, being able to change the width or rotation of a stripe within a pattern and have it still tile seamlessly.
I'm using CS6 on a PC.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Custom Door Tag Constraint Rotating Upside Down?
Sep 26, 2013I created a custom door tag I have been using for several years now based on the standard size description (3068). I have always had the constraint set to object so it will be read at 0 or 90 degrees. I am now using ACA2014 and now it puts the tag in at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees. how to correct it back so the text is not upside down? I could always set it to zero but I don't like the look.

Jun 8, 2012I'm having a real issue with Revit that I can't get my head around or find documentation on.
I have a model setup and linked a DWG file. The DWG is a topo survey drawn in real co-ordinates. The DWG is linked center to center then then I moved and rotated it to suit the orientation of my new building in Project North. See image 01.
I've then aquaired the co-ordinates from the DWG.
I've change to True North and rotated the view. See image 02
All seems to be OK. If I detach and re-attach this DWG using the shared co-ordinated it ends up in the correct place so I've started work on my model.
However, I've noticed that when I close and re-open my model or force ther DWG to reload it shifts position and rotates so I have to detach and reattach. See image 03
Revit :: Rotating Objects In A Project?
Jul 20, 2012I am currently working with a point cloud inside of revit. But, The point cloud comes into revit in a geospatialy correct position. Therefore, it is skewed and not near the origin where you would normally model in revit. I need to be able to rotate my project without actually changing the position of my objects.
I use CAD alot as well so the best way to describe this would be, in CAD, being able to set your UCS to an object, and then later on reseting your UCS to world.
The main purpose of all this is to be able to bring my floor plan into a sheet without it being rotated to the same orientation as the Pointcloud.
Revit :: Rotating In-Place Mass Elements?
Feb 21, 2014I have a colleague who has counciled me that sometimes it makes sense to create mass-elements for complicated gabled roof elements. Since I am pretty darn new to Revit, I am bringing in some old 2D dwg information (plans and elevations) and I'm trying to use this information to generate an in-place mass that is my roof. I'm essentially extruding gabled roof information from this geometry. So far so good. But when I try to rotate this information I find the program unwilling to do this. I have a suspicion this has something to do with the fact this in-place mass is either being hosted by the intitial horiontal working plane, or it is "pinned" to something I don't want it to be pinned to.

Sep 26, 2012I created a project with multiple linked Revit files in it and I'd like to rotate the models in their own files to be "North/South". I understand choosing between True North and Project North, but I can't tell which I'm supposed to rotate because when I rotate the actual model and bring it into the host file, it's not accurate. Am I to bring it in to the host and then rotate and move it into position and then publish the coordinates? I have tried that, but then when I go back to the linked file and import a AutoCAD background drawing by it's origin's, it doesn't line up.
Is there a tutorial online somewhere that describes the process for rotating a linked project file in its own file to be North/South and then import it to the host file and establish (publish) coordinates so everything works? Do I just need to re-export to AutoCAD to modify the origin point for the DWG file?
Revit :: Rotating View On Sheet And Text
Apr 29, 2013I have seen several posts about rotating a view on a sheet and the text not remaining readable.
I have seen the posts that say to rotate the view then add text... What if you didn't plan that far ahead - are you just stuck?
Is there any new developments on this?
I have a client who needs to be able to this without having to rotate all the text in the project.

Aug 2, 2013im having trouble with a rotational object. I Basically made a basketball system in the category of specialty equipment. i made several different families in the same category and have nested one big family in specialty equipment.. I then loaded the nested family into a Generic face base template and change the caegory to specialty equipment, after completeing the steps i then loaded it into another family that is just specialty equipment. My problem is that, im either getting constraint problems when i set up my angular dimension parameter and try changing it's angle or when i do get it to change angles the pivot point keeps moving around...The main point is how do i get my pivot point to stay still and have my angle parameter change without errors?

Jun 30, 2004Does anyone know of a way to create your own custom halftone pattern in Photoshop? e.g. When converting to a bitmap you get the option of dot/line etc but you can't choose any custom shapes (I want to use an asterisk). Aug 5, 2013This is quite weird because revit architecture 2013 is showing this error. In order to see beam in my architectural layout, we are changing the cut plane value in the view range. With this step I can see the beam but not the cut pattern of the beam..very weird. Also, one more thing, just to check I copy pasted beam modeled in revit 2011 in revit 2013 and I could see the cut pattern. So is something wrong with 2013 beam revit family?

Aug 13, 2013I am trying to find out how the drafting pattern origin is determined in Revit 2013. A model pattern is very easy to adjust, but this is not true of a drafting patterns. How the drafting patterns even determine what their origin is. Is it centered on a project extents - therefore changing as the model expands, or is it set by a 0,0,0 origin similar to AutoCAD (but hidden). In an event it does not seem that this origin is adjustable (unless someone out there knows some Revit magic) so perhaps it does not matter, but I would like to know.

Revit :: Toposurface Pattern Showing Through Wall
Jan 28, 2014I'm having trouble getting the visibility of walls within toposurfaces to display correctly. Please see the two attached images, showing a wall extending into a sloped grade. I have a plan view which in some areas shows the wall above grade, and in other areas shows the wall below grade. The red line through image 2 shows the approximate cut line of the plan view shown on image 1. The problem is that the toposurface pattern extends through the interior of the solid wall, in areas where the wall is buried below grade. The plan view display is set to Hidden Line, not Wireframe, and the wall is not set to display as transparent. I want the wall's geometry to cut out the toposurface - you'd see the concrete hatch on the wall, but not the fill pattern of the topography.

Some shows some do not, only the shade color. i am exporting or printing to pdf these 3d images under consistent shade mode no shadows. I tried flipping wall orientations, didn't work. Apparently when v viewing afar the patterns do not show, when zooming in to the view they show up. but the savifn the current 3d viewing with the patterns partly showing yields the same output prints.

And there: Revit.pat (or any other *.pat file that I have).
And there it comes: An error! Syntax error in line 2 or 12 or 10 ? What has happened? Before I was managed to attach patterns ok. To an other project I mean.
Where on earth is the problem? In the project? The whole program? In the pattern file?
