View 8 RepliesIf there is a way to change the behavior of the middle mouse button in the Node Editor so that by default it moves the panel without needing to press the Alt key?
Ideally I'd like to swap the behavior of pressing the Alt Key + Middle Mouse with just the Middle Mouse.
How to delete all ik handle nodes in a scene and all constrain nodes in a scene.
My rig is so complex that going in and deleting one by one seems like a crazy process but if there was a way to get the outliner to show only ik_handles and or constrain nodes then I could just select them and delete them and this would save me a lot of time.
I thought they were supposed to appear when the Polygon shelf is selected? I don't see them. In fact, when I select different shelves the menu items on the right half of the task bar don't change at all. Is this normal?

I tried starting Maya 2012 from the terminal and it started fine.Then it gave me this when I opened Hypershade libpng warning: Ignoring attempt to set cHRM RGB triangle with zero area...As soon as I made a mental ray node , in Hypershade , Maya crashed.And before crashing it spit this out

How am I supposed to render my scene with AmbOcc and SSS and all.
I am working in the Hypershade in Maya 2009. I need to see my place 2d texture nodes for my file textures.
Somehow they seem to have disappeared completely. There are no nodes in the utilities tab, and expanding the network to see inputs and outputs is not showing them either.
We recently upgraded from 2008 to 2012. Sometimes, on saving a scene file, some of the meshes within a group node "disappear". They basically behave like they're on a hidden layer -- even though they're not. You can see the transform and shape nodes in the Outliner, but in the viewport they're gone.
I can fix this by un-parenting the missing meshes, at which point they reappear -- and then when I reparent them as children of the original group node they're fine. But when I save the file and reopen it, the meshes are (sometimes) invisible again.
You might think the group node itself is hidden or attached to a non-visible Display layer, but it isn't. And there are other meshes within the group node that show up fine.
How I can permanently avoid it? I'm working on fairly complex environment scenes, and having to selectively unparent/reparent meshes each time I open my files is a real hassle.
I’ve got a small issue when migrating an in-house Viewport Renderer plug-in from 2012 to 2013, when resetting a scene (for instance by creating a new scene or opening another one).
In 2012 version, when creating a new scene, a node removal callback was triggered on every node of the scene to clean things up. More precisely, by installing a callback this way: _callbackRemoveNodes = MDagMessage::addParentRemovedCallback( removeNodeCB, (void*)this );
the method removeNodeCB was called on each Dag path of my scene. Which was pretty interesting for me to clean a dual scene graph within my plug-in
In 2013 version however, none of these nodes removal callbacks are triggered on a scene reset (they are correctly triggered when manually removing a node of course).
Is there a new way to deal with scene resets in the API that I didn’t see or is this simply a bug I should report?This is a cross-post from the SDK forum. Since my issue is strongly bound to the 2013 version.
Suppose I have an asset containing three transforms:
-transform A with published attributes tx, ty and tz,
-transform B with published attributes rx, ry and rz, and
-transform C with no published attributes (nurbs sphere used for selection).
Is it possible to make it so that when the user clicks on the nurbs sphere, the actual asset node gets selected instead of the sphere? I seem unable to set it as the selection transform.
I found a way to solve in maya 2009, but it doesn't work in 2012.

I have several blocks spaced evenly apart and I need to copy and paste another block and insert it with the same spacing. I don't want to take the step to find out how far apart they are. I believe there's a way to use the insert command to figure out the distance the next block needs to be placed when I paste it.
I'm not sure if I'm describing it correctly or if I can paste the block using the insert command.

When I click on the drop-down in the model browser, the menu which should appear on under the drop-down arrow appears on the right monitor. Pretty frustrating to have to move the pointer all the way across the screen to click the menu.
I have tried resetting the menus, toggling the model browser on/off. Nothing changes.
I have been unable to select previous folders used for export by selecting them from the usual dropdown menu in the export dialog box. All the folders created by the Choose option since installing LR4 are shown, but the are grayed out an inaccessable. I am unable to locate the Preferences file in my user library (Mac Lion 10.7.3) to delete it to see if that might work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis happened recently. No matter what preferences I reset or options I click it wont show all the attributes. I go to the school, file is fine. I can see everything when I select control handles.
I uninstalled everything, cleaned registry. rebooted. reinstalled. Still have the problem. It should show all the attributes for translate and rotation. I tried the same file on different computers and it shows them all selected.
I am using HumanIK with Graph Editor to animate my character. First I create pose to pose and then I go to the Graph Editor to set the timing of the animation. In the Graph Editor I drag select multiple keys to get the timing correct. Then I go to the timeSlider and copy/paste keys to make some tweaking. And here we have the problem! When I copy key/keys all are good, but when I am going to paste key/keys Maya give me a fatal error!
Reproducible:
Make a default skeleton from the Character Controls menu and then make a Control Rig. Select HipsEffector set keys on frame 1, 12 and 24. Then in the Character Controls menu go to the Controls tap and left mouse click in the empty space next to the Character image to select all. Now open up the Graph Editor and select all the keys on frame 12 and with the Move Tool shift middle drag the keys to the right.
If you at this point go to the timeSlider and copy key frame 12 and paste it somewhere in the timeSlider Maya gets a fatal error pop up.
If the action shift middle drag with the Move Tool hasn't been used then Maya haven't popped up with the fatal error!
I've been using Maya's HumanIK function for my model for a game I'm building. I began doing some animation, but I'm running into multiple problems. I've noticed for a while now that moving the IK handles with values from the channel box is a complete waste of time. It is unresponsive to the Channel Box numbers and how I can make it so it is. The only way to make the IKs move is to move or rotate them directly on the model with the basic manipulator tools.
Not only that, but did the animation, which for now is an idle breathing stance, between frames the animation moves on its own, beyond the scope of what I told it to move, even when its between two of the exact same frames. I haven't animated in a while, so I can't remember how I used to fix this, but since I know a bit more about animation now, I dabbled into my Graph Editor. Moving the curves have no effect on the animation either and I can't change the tangents nor use the smoothing handles.
The closest thing I found was something saying to change my Animation Settings in the Preferences to make the HIK curve default to Independent Euler-Angle curves, but that doesn't seem to work either.
I've got a problem with the graph editor in 2012 changing the values of my curves when I retime the curves. Basically, when I select all the controlers in my character rig, the go to move each set of keys over 2-3 frames, the curve values change. So the walk cycle essentially breaks, and my feet end up further in front, and the y trans value flattens out.
I've just installed hot fix 2, and that hasn't changed it. This has worked fine in every version of Maya i've used since version 3. Is it an 'new option' that i need to turn off I don't know about?
I'm having a problem with Maya 2011. It does not open the Shelf Editor. All the other editors work fine.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have this scene with two characters, if i select a node (i.e. the hip control) and go to the graph editor it only shows one tangent. Even if i select a bunch of them in the left panel it only shows one! It seems like a bug to me because this file works fine in 2011.
I'm an Animation Mentor student and the staff have no clue of what's going on. They just advised me to stick with a working maya version for the moment, but maya 2011 is very slow for my computer.
After installation I went directly into the editor and right away I saw that the software was very sluggish with my cursor dragging . After clicking on a top menu (File) the menu bar open (5 sec.)and if I scroll it down I do not see the blue color following my cursor, and if I click at the location in the bar of my cursor it takes a few second before it respond. I am also using the following adobe softwares that works flawlessly : Photoshop CS5.5 extended; Bridge; Camera Raw; Lightroom 4.2. My computer uses an Asus P7P55-E Premium motehrboard with Win 7 pro 64 bits with an intel I 860 2.8 mhz and 8 gigs of RAM. All my adobe softs are 64 bits, except for elements 11. After seeing that, I installed the upgrades without any visible problems. Even after that nothing has improved.
I have to say that I have quite a few softwares installed that all work perfectly such has Topaz bundle; Photomatix pro, etc. In fact of all my softwares this is the only one that is giving me troubles.

When I issue the Wblock Command I can not find the Dialog box to select objects and file location... This happens in the Layer Dialog when I try to change the color of a layer, the Color Dialog box can not be found. When I use the Block command the dialog box pops up, so I can see it.

I'm doing a walk cycle. and I have 2 feet. I have to manually switch in the numbers that result in a graph that is basically identical but with a horizontal and vertical flip.
instead of manually typing in the numbers I'd like to copy one set of keys and paste it onto the second foot. I know I can get a vertical flip by doing *=-1 but is there a way to get a horizontal flip also?
I'd like to know if it is possible to add multiple keys on multiple curves in one step in graph editor as marked on attached image.
