Premiere Pro :: Can't Find Location Of Videos - Export / Render On Computer
Feb 1, 2014
I can't find the location of the videos I export/render on my computer. How to change the location of where to save them. I used premiere elements before I used premiere pro. The interface changed on pro and I'm falling way behind on projects.

I have looked everywhere for instructions on how to export a premiere pro project and sequence, and associated media, to final cut pro on another computer. Exporting the xml does not include the media files. Therefore when my editor opens up the xml file it fails. I have a feeling I need to use Media Encoder to export the media associated with the project. Yet I cannot find any guides or instructions for how to undertake this. My editor is using FCP 7 on another computer in another place, so I need to export 8 sequences/projects *with their media* to him via the internet (dropbox) so that he can do a final edit on his machine. I would even be happy just to be able to export a working AAF since that option also hasn't worked for us.

I am trying to render and export files after using the fast color corrector. After using this effect, some, but not all of my clips don't render and the following message pops up: ERROR COMPILING MOVIE.
I saw online that this happened to ther people too and it seems like it is a bug in CS6 itself. I need to do the color correction.

I have 2 videos that were shot using a tripod. Only a very small section of the videos are different and I want to add a crossfade only to that section, I want the rest to flow seemlessly.
For example, if you look at this picture -URL....
The black part is exactly the same on both videos (and when I add the clips together it plays seemlessly), the green square however changes to show an alteration to the product. How can I add a cross fade effect to only this section

by mistake I imported (moved) several AVI and MPEG videos into a specific folder that I inteded to use as backup for one of my relatives.
Problem is that my original folders, where I stored these videos, along with specific names regarding genre and/or subject were left intact, with nothing inside them.
I am trying to find a way to "revert" the import process and send those files back to where they belong.

It used to be that when rendering a timeline, there would be no lag between rendering the first and second videos. Now, between each video there is about a 30 second transition before the next video begins rendering. Anything that would have caused this, or is there anyway to prevent it? If I am rendering a timeline with 60 clips that need rendering, this can add a significant amount of time.

I tried reimporting the video and translating it to another format, I've rendered it fully, and deleted temp files and re-rendered it. I rebuilt the video from scratch in a new sequence created from the clip (all clips were screencaptured using Camstudio so they're the same exact format as each other.
But I still have constant problems with videos not playing properly in preview. The last time I had this problem, they rendered that way too. When I hit the spacebar to view the video, it shows a bit of the video, then rewinds and plays the same section over and over, moving a little further forward each time. Basically "rubberbanding".
It's Premiere Pro CS 5.5.2
Win 7 64
No third party codecs.
I have plenty of hard drive space and 8 gb of ram. I do have browsers open which use a lot of memory, but all the other clips are working so that doesn't seem like it should be an issue.I'm not using any kinds of plugins or third-party things.
Shutting other memory hogging programs and restarting Premiere.Things that seem to hurt: using the time slider to increase or decrease speed of the video.

I opened up a new project to edit and imported my raw video. When I dropped a clip onto the timeline and played it, it played as if I put in it fast forward (which I did not). This happened with all of my video clips and I even imported a video clip I recently edited, that did not do that when I originally edited it, but it also plays in fast forward.

I make *.MTS videos in the format of 1280x720. When I output the video (PR Pro CS6) using Encore CS6 to produce a DVD it outputs in the format 720x576. Is there a way I could maintain the 1280x720 format?

When I export a video, I export to DVD, BLURAY, MP4 for Vimeo, and 2 Master Archives at ProRes 422 and AVC-I 100 all at one time. So like 4 or 5 versions of the same video. Been doing this for years with no issues really. Most of the time the exports all appear to be fine. Now all of a sudden every once in a while one or two of the exports will have one or two transitions missing. Bizaar. And disturbing because some of the videos are over an hour and I can't afford to watch all of the various copies to see if some are missing transitions and some are not. The timeline has no issues. There are lots of cross dissolves and the exported videos look great. But a few times lately one or two of the videos will just be missing one of the cross dissolves right in the middle of the video. It'll cut to black and then fade up the 2nd clip instead of blending the two. The other 2 or 3 videos will look fine and have no issues.
Running 2011 iMac 3.4GHz i7 with 16GB RAM, 120GB SSD (OS and Program), Scratch files on a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD, and exports going to an OWC External RAID0 HDD connected via Thunderbolt adapter. Footage is AVCHD 720p60 edited natively on a 24p timeline.
Doesn't happen everytime, but seems to be happening more often.

Re: Adobe Master Suite CS6 and specifically PPro CS6. I am trying to find any information on using my chapter or encore markers in a sequence to create multiple videos using the markers and doing this in Media Encoder. It is a music video I want to split into 22 separate videos based on the start point for each song. It is such a natural thing to want to do this that I would at least have expected to see a comment to the contrary if it is not capable of being done in the manner I am suggesting. I would expect to be able to do a dynamic link to the sequence and be able to split the file in a fashion similar to Encore which imports the sequence as a series of chapter points I then use to create my DVD.

I edited a wedding video that is over 90 minutes long (it was a wedding in Ireland). It was filmed in AVCHD on a pro video camera.
I wanted to produce a standard DVD and a Blu Ray copy to send over. The DVD copy rendered fine but the Blu Ray as well as the AVCHD file crashed every time and even crashed the computer to re-start. It crashed at around 30% in and I tried a number of different combinations to accomplish this render.
What I then did after a few attempts was to look at the last frame of the couple of files it did render to see where on the time line it was crashing.
It turned out it was on a transition I customised, I think using proDAD VitaScene. It was a transition that created a twinkling star effect from one scene to the next. As soon as I removed this one transition and it rendered a Blu Ray file with no problems at all.
One question though, I am not sure why there are so many choices of Blu Ray and AVCHD in the menu. What is the difference and which one would be the generally used one.

I found that render effects will utilize GPU and fans are working. Normally a few minutes will complete the work.
However, when I render in and out, it takes one to two hours and fans don't work as fast as when render effects, which means that render in and out is not using GPU I suppose.

I just built a new editing system and am exporiting a new project and my cpu sits at 58-65% usage and gpu at 2-6%. Ram usage is about 8GB. The file is from dslr .MOV clips to H.264 MP4 export, 1080P 30FPS 20Mbps CBR. Total lenght 6min 20 sec with warp stabilizer, contrast, sharpening filter, and neat video applied. As far as I know all of those effects are CUDA accelerated.Media is on my Raid 0 Segregate 3TB x2 drive (about 350 Read/Write) Scratch is on 120gb ssd drive, OS and Adobe CC on 240GB SSD. Both ssd's 500 read/write. Exporting to either os drive or raid 0 has no difference. Export time is about 25 min.
Are there any optimizations I need to do to speed things up or is this normal? I ran PPBM7 yesterday and sent in the info. I got the following results from the output file,
I/O time = 111 Sec 334.16 MB/S , h.264 Timeline = 208 Seconds, MPE gain 461/18=25.6 .
Below are PC specs. Everything is stock, not overclocked yet.
4930k, gtx titan black , 32gb ram 1866 , 650watt 80gold psu, 240 ssd os, 120 Ssd scratch, 6tb raid 0 for media, win 8.1 , premeire CC.

Just wanted to know the best way to transfer my HDV tapes to my computer. Should I use my canon hx-a1s or should I go out and buy a deck. I mean is there any differenence in quality?
Also what settings will give me the best results when transfering through adobe premiere cs4?
And, is it better to capture the video from adobe premiere or another application such as sony vegas, final cut, avid, etc. I still dont know if I will use adobe premiere or sony vegas to edit my footage, it depends whichever one plays my files in realtime, so I want to import in a way where I can have ease of use in any pro video editing program.

Edited my footage in a sequence in normal size.
I wanted to make it widescreen, so I made a new sequence in 1920x810.
I then copy pasted my edit into the new sequence and started rendering.
The render window kept adding frames to render, and the percentage jumps and very slowly adds 0.1% into the progress.
I tried choosing a smaller amount to render, same problem still persists.
Why does it now want to render normally? Why does it add frames to render all the time?

Not having used Premier all that much - as I leave that to the editor, I have a question around Premier and its file usage. We save our source footage in several location on a local server. Video in some folders, Sound in others, backgrounds in yet other folders. The editor creates a project, then a sequence where she pulls all the files together - so, for instance, lets assume it is a prject sequence that consists of:
1) Background footage of a field
2) Green screen footage of character #1 moving around
3) Blue screen footage of characters #2 mocing around
4) Music Layer
5) Vocal layer
She creates and saves her project on the server in the specific project folder. I am now interrested in collecting those files through premier and storing them all in one place, then copying that collected structure to her local machine to see if response will be better for her editing - our network is not the best at the moment, and we are still working on solutions. She will then have all the source footage and files sitting on her local maching, along with the Premier project file.
She now completes her edit and we are all happy with the way it looks. How do we get that specific edit back onto the server (at the end of the specific edit, as well as daily for backup purposes)? Do we have to recopy and replace the entire folder every time, or do we just copy the project file back to the server? Will this require a relink of every single piece of footage?

I have added closed captions to my Premiere Pro project took bloody ages and all looks and runs great within the project. Simple white captions over the video.
Although, when I render the video out with the closed captions embedded within the video, cirtain captions seem to have slightly "dodgy" formatting when played back in quick time player.
Some sections of the captions have a black background on and some do not. As I previously mentioned the captions are all fine within the project. It just seems to happen on the render file

I've been having trouble lately using Warp Stabilizer in Premiere CC 7.1. I had used the effect many times successfully, then it suddenly stopped working. It analyzes the clips without problem, however it seems to get stuck on the "Stabilizing" phase. It just sits there. As I try to playback the clip in the timeline, it simply shows up as black video in the viewer. The space above the clip on the time line is yellow. I've done a full uninstall and no luck. I don't have any other problems in Premiere Pro CC 7.1 right now.

A few months back, I spent a bucket of gold on upgrading to a new high end computer.
The specs:
Windows 8.1
i7-4770k 3.50GHz
32gb RAM
GeForce GTX 780
SSD Harddrive as main
2 extra harddrives
None of them are in RAID though.
But here's my problem. In the beginning, editing in After Effects CC and Premiere CC was smooth as butter. However, lately, especially Premiere has started giving me issues.
At the moment, I'm editing to 1080p footage, in h.264 format. There's a few effects on it, such as an overlay 720p footage, using Red Giant Looks twice (on one adjustment layer, and on the footage itself), and some other minor stuff like curves and such.
The effects don't seem to matter much though. Even if I play back the footage with no effects at all, playback is still choppy.
I have playback set to 25% size, and 1/4 resolution, and I still only get what I would guess is around 5-10 frames per second. Sometimes it drops completely, down to just 1 or 2 frames per second. Heck, at times it just doesn't update at all for a few seconds.
When I check my CPU usage, everything is fine. It hasn't reached max at all. RAM is still PLENTY (usually around 20gb left), and it seems that both harddrives (Premiere is running on the SSD and the files used are on another harddrive) aren't maxed out either in capacity.
This isn't JUST Premiere, as I said, I've seen a decline in After Effects performance as well.
I've attached 3 screenshots, of my CPU usages, and the 2 harddrives, showing a few minutes playback in Premiere.
CPU Usage:
SSD drive:
Secondary drive:
As you can see, apart from a few spikes here and there, none of them seem to be having issues with capping out. RAM is sitting at a steady 30% usage.
