I was wondering if there's a way to apply local changes to a picture by including the part I need to be changed in a square (like when you crop it). Without using the graduated filter.

Result -- The main image is converted to B&W, but the local adjustment doesn't change, i.e. it's still colored. Here's a trivial (and not-realistic) example of what happens:
My goal is to adjust the colors and the apply the B&W conversion to the entire processed image, not just the original piece. Is there a way to do this? I feel like I'm missing something small and easy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy (previously wonderful) local adjustment brush has apparently quit working. Whenever I attempt to make local adjustments - using either the standard presets or custom settings - all the adjustments made are applied to the entire image, not just locally. Density and flow are set to my typical values and Show Selected Mask Overlay shows the extent of the applied effect, but whatever adjustment I make is applied generally, over the entire photo, rather than to the selected adjustment area.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a set of images in 32 bit .hdr format, which I would like to turn into 8 bit png files. Specifically, they are 6 sides of a cubemap, which join together seamlessly, and still need to do so after the conversion.
I've played around with the options in the HDR toning dialogue and have a setup I really like the look of, based around the 'local adaptation' method. The trouble is, if I apply those settings to each of the 6 images individually, they are no longer seamless (some have higher/lower contrast and brightness etc), presumably because these settings are 'relative to' the image being processed.
how can I apply the same kind of operations to each of these images (so they remain seamless), mimicking what the 'local adaptation' method is doing?
The specific settings I have changed in the dialogue are the edge glow radius and strength, the 'detail', and the colour vibrance and saturation.
I know how to print a picture with a border, but I now want to set a border within the picture and save it including the border.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some parts with varies User Parameters that allow cusomization of part features. With numeric user paremeters we can check the export parameter box and then, in the description of the part we can refrence that parameter. For instance the description could be: =Width <Width>, Height <Height>, etc. Where it would desplay as Discription: width 22in, height 12".
We also have text User parameters. Is there a way to add these parameters to the description as well? They do not have the option of checking the export parameter box in the parameters table.
Is there a relatively simple, automated tool in gimp to apply one picture's environment lighting properties to another picture?
So for example if i cut out an object from one picture that has pretty warm lighting environment, and put it in a cold light background it will look pretty out of place obviously, and this is what I would like to resolve.
I run MacOS 10.9, Lightroom 5.3 and I print on an Epson R3000.
The first problem I had was that the images was printed on just a small part of the paper and it cut the images. I have attached a picture showing this. I totally reinstalled my computer and now it looks like that problem is gone (for now at least). But now the images are printed but much smaller than the paper I specify. If I specify A3+ I get something close to A4. Borderless printing on 6*4 looks to be working as it should but that's the only I managed to print so far.
I tested printing from Photoshop 5.1 and that worked fine.
I am tryiing to "purge" a local appearance in a part. From the tools>Appearance, I want to delete the Knurled (Coarse), but the delete is greyed out.
I cleared the appearance overrides, but it is still greyed out. Here is a short video of what I have tried.
The reason I am going thru this excersice it to remove the knurl.bmp that shows up in by vault browser... watch the end of the video.
how to place part or assembly from the Vault or local Hard drive in to the existing assembly?
Basically I do have a list of parts (wall panels different sizes etc...) I was going to create an iLogic form with drop downs, so engineer can choose wall panel assemblies he needs and qty`s. iLogic will pull these assemblies from the vault/HDD in to the existing assembly. Currently we have to go to so many different folders to pick them up.
For a web page, website, whatever you want to call it, this is what I'm trying to figure out. I want to be able to make a shape of anything, like a square, and inside that square add a picture of something. I want to be able to move that picture anywhere inside that square, without it coming outside, showing only a portion of the picture.

I am taking the notebook with me on site and I am not sure if anything but illustrator can run on it. i.e I know I can do it in photoshop but am worried about the poor little bugger screaming blue murder!

What I am trying to achieve is that the the part (lat image) of the left square that you see slanted, should be cut away, so that the cut on the right be inline(45deg_) with the cut on the left...
I tried all the different cutting/trimming techniques but nothing does what I want..
So im attempting to square part of a rounded square, but leave some sides curved. The problem is I've got a small square to cover the curved square and I have aligned it and yet there is a blured edge that shows its not in line.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on shadow I just get a square under the part that I modeled. If I turn on ray tracing I get a detailed shadow but then I have to wait a minute or two every time i move the model. In the video tutorial it seems that the guy has a good shadow with no raytracing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my website, especially when pictures are side by side, I try to make all the same, i.e. square. To me it looks better. I have a picture that is rectangle and obviously cannot resize to a square - distorts the picture. I know there is a way to copy the rectangle picture into a square picture frame which allows the picture to be square while not distorting the rectangle size.
But I don't know how to do this. I have watched a video on this but still not clear how to do it.

By default, the picture seems to be set to word wrap as inline, which makes Word give it a low priority and hide it behind all text. All I want to do is change the wrap style to Square.
Using Microsoft's site, I found what i believe to be the proper style setting. [URL].....
Autodesk's guide for using WordPictureWriter: [URL]....
No matter what I change style to, absolutely nothing changes. It is always set as inline.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to take a certain part of an image (a small shape of it) and then apply darkening, progressively, from that small area. That is, the image gets darker and darker as it radiates out from that shape. Like a vignette, but progressively darkening from the point rather than a strait darkness.
Tried playing around with curves and didn't really do this effect.
i am trying to import a folder of vacation pictures. it has 5000 pictures and there are many subfolders. It imports them where i want but it gives me question marks on all the subfolders. And the subfolders are empty even though it tells me how many pictures are in the folder. I right clicked the question marked folders and point to where they are and it just says they are already there and do i want to merge the folders. In importing i told it to include the subfolders. I have tried this twice and each time the same results. Very frustrating to have to scroll through thousands of pictures.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have just exported a Lightroom 5 catalog from one hard drive to another. Fine, I got all folders and pictures and settings, but I am missing my publish services (I publish to Google Drive). When exporting the catalog I have marked the top folder "Pictures".
I have a lot of publish serive folders, how to get these into my new catalog.
