Feb 21, 2012I have a very simple PSD, so i'll try to explain this super simply..
one transparent layer, with just a pair or eyebrows, with the only added blend effect as 'multiply'
one background with a face, no eyebrows.
the layer blends the eyebrows in to the background face perfectly.
i want to save the layer as a separate file keeping the tranparency and including the result of the multiply effect, without the background.
the reason why i want to do this may confuse things, but basically i want several different eyebrow colours to be interchangeable over this face in an application that doesn't recognise the blending link with the background, so i want to save it in PS !

Jan 4, 2013I will be working with a company across town on a drawing set. Let's call my company CompanyA and them CompanyB. We will be colaberating on the drawing together possibly in realtime. What I need to do is to be able to xref their drawing into mine and mine into theirs and I need to be able to still make changes to my drawing and them to theirs.
CompanyA - DrawingA
CompanyB - DrawingB
DrawingA will xref DrawingB
DrawingB will xref DrawingA
When I make changes to my drawing I need to be able to save it without the attched xref so as not to nest the xrefs in a loop.
We will be working together via VPN in realtime.

Nov 8, 2012When I try to save an image and select the picture format like tiff or jpeg ps always saves the picture in the wrong format. for example I choose jpeg and in the save window the picture has the wrong format (ending). I am editing old pictures. To save time I am scanning four pictures at a time. I'm using the marquee tool to crop each picture into their own layer via right click method and choosing "Layer via copy." After I'm done doing this for all four pictures, I have to hide all but one layer, trim the project to the picture size, save it. Then I undo the trim, and start over for the next picture to save.
Is there any easier way to save each cropped section as their own picture/project at the size of their crop without effecting the other pictures? Was wondering if there was a way to crop the portions I want out but instead of copy to layer method, I could just create a new project with that cropped picture?

Sep 10, 2012It's been a few days now that when I try to save a picture (either with "save", "Save as", or "save copy"), I get the following message popping up:
"because of the limitations of the specified file format (and possibly the save options you've selected), the saved file will be limited to a merged image. Would you like to continue?"
I have hit ok to that and the software would save the picture, but when I checked the size of each picture I noticed a dramatic drop in size (from 6.5MB to roughly 1.3MB). Just for the record, the editing I did to these pictures was minimal, just a little rotation and a removal of maybe 2mm from each size.
First of all, is it normal to get this message?
And then, is such a drop in size normal?
it's pictures in JPEG taken from the camera and saved as JPEG.

Jan 6, 2014I have been using PSE 8.0 for three or four years now, and I have never experienced any problems with it. Today, after installed a Wacom Intuos Creative Pen Tablet, my PSE 8.0 would not open-- nor would Editor and Organizer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, renaming certain files (as read in other answers), creating shortcuts to bypass the Welcome Screen (which also will not appear), among other solutions that I read about for similar problems. Whenever I attempt to open Organizer, a crash report appears, stating that the program has quit unexpectedly--that's all it says. If I try to open PSE 8 or Editor, the circle next to my cursor appears for a moment, but soon it disappears without a single pop-up or explanation as to why the program won't open. Since I cannot access the Welcome Screen, I cannot locate the Preference file to change the name/delete it. If it matters, I use Windows 7.
