layers problem in PS cs5 extended, when working in a layer, all layers changes at once i.e size, cropping, smart object etc. even the background layer changes..
My system windows 7 64 bit 4gb ram. It is not grouped, deleted preferences, usually work in rgb/ 8 bit channel - have same problem with all new projects.
I want to increase the image (canvass?) size in PS so that the layers size up with the image (not bothered on loss of quality as mainly text and vector shapes so should be OK).

one transparent layer, with just a pair or eyebrows, with the only added blend effect as 'multiply'
one background with a face, no eyebrows.
the layer blends the eyebrows in to the background face perfectly.
i want to save the layer as a separate file keeping the tranparency and including the result of the multiply effect, without the background.
the reason why i want to do this may confuse things, but basically i want several different eyebrow colours to be interchangeable over this face in an application that doesn't recognise the blending link with the background, so i want to save it in PS !
I'm doing very complex drawing of a heating plant on a big ware house site. So I'm using two kinds of layers. I don't know, weather I'm using everything how it is to use or not, because I learned everything by myself.
The first layers are my so called "line type layers": hidden line, center line, wall, border, ... So all the different types of lines I'm using, when is start my drawing. I block all lines, which belong to one part like screws, doors, pips, engines, .. And at the end I put my "part" blocks" on my "part layers", like deashing, ash bin, boiler, building, electrical.
So lets say I have the layer "deashing", which includes several blocks like "deashing screw", "deashing drive", "deashing screw 2", .. And each block consists of several lines, which are on the layers, like "hidden line", "center line" and "black thin line", ...
And now I want to switch of everything in my drawing, which belongs to the "deashing layer" to get a better overview. So I "turn off" the layer "deashing", but I can still see it in my drawing. It just disappears, when I freeze the layer, but it should disappear, when I "turn off" the layer, too, shouldn't it?
So I hope I didn't wrote to much, but I good explanation is worth everything. So why does it not disappear or do I use the layers in a wrong way.
I have multiple effects that I want but for over 100 different pictures. Is it possible to get up a macro to have Paint.net run 9 different steps including creating multiple layers?

Only one prob: some of the squares are SHADES of black, and I want to sub navy for black in EVERY pixel it inhabits, however pale.
How can I do this without trying to identify and translate every shade represented? Does a filter exist for this?
Is there a way to search and replace using masks for HTML color codes or some such (don't even know how color codes work)?
I have been using CS4 Exteded and am having a problem with the layers/marquee. I create a duplicate layer-multiply it- then use the marquee to select an area in the center to delete (i.e. vignette) and am having a strange thing happen. I will delete the selected area in the top layer and am noticing a "line" on a side. It is obviously darker and is based on the size of the marqueed area...like it is not feathered enough to get to that area. I am feathering the top layer when I use the marquee but it is still happening.

When I open a new file and set up some stuff and what-not, I go to set up my background and foreground colors and whenever I pick a darker color like 'Maroon' It goes to black. A middle color like baby blue goes to gray and a light color like lime green goes to white.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded cs5 and it won't download .mp4 files to layers. whenever i go to file > import > video frames to layers, the mp4 files are greyed out and i can only click on .avi files.
there is no high quality converter from mp4 to avi, so it's quite frustrating.
how to unlink my "background" in the layers pallete from the other layers.
I am using photoshop CS2. on a mac OS X.
When i make changes to other layers in the layers pallete, it changes my 'background' as well. I know that i can duplicate it but regardless, the 'background' changes according to what i do to the other layers even tho it is locked.
A .psd file with layers created in a full version of Photoshop CS6 does not show the layers in my CS6 Extended version. I am still using the trial version of Extended pending registration.

I'm using a Mac and I've already switched my CS5 to a 32-bit version, but the video is greyed out even though it's an mp4 and won't let me import the video.
I've looked through some tutorials, and everything should work. I'm have Quicktime version 10.2, so that should be the latest version?

I have a simple clothing pattern I want to make a 3d Texture from which I can do however what I would like to do is make a layer out of the white background around the template with the marked pattern areas as transparent so after I paint the main template clothing ares, I can place the white background with transparent areas back in as a layer to cover where I paint or fill over the marked template area. I am trying to animate a simple 3D position change in Photoshop Extended CS6 (OS 10.7.4)Here's what I do:
1. I move my object to its starting position.
2. I move the Current Time Indicator ("playhead") to the time I want the position change to start.
3. I click the Time‑Vary stopwatch icon on the Position layer of the timeline, and a keyframe is automatically created, no problem.
4. I move the playhead away from the initial keyframe to the time I want the position change to end.
5. I move my object to its ending position.
I expect to see the second keyframe be automatically created, as advertised, BUT it is not. What's more, if i move the playhead to "scrub" through the animation, I see no movement. What's happened is the position I set for Keyframe 1 has changed to the position I just moved the object to, which I intended to be Keyframe 2.
I have some text documents in PDF format and would like to edit it in photoshop CS5, but each time I open them up in photoshop, the background seems to be transparent (tiny grey and white tiles), which is very eye tiring when editing/annotating with a wacom pen, how to fill the background total white?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am just starting to learn C# and .NET and I am trying to write a simple program to gather all the layers from a drawing in a directory, save them to a list, and use that list to change those layers to the appropriate layers. The way I want it to iterate is open the first drawing, gather the layers, ask the user which layer they want to change the original layer to, and when they select the new layer, it associates that old layer with the new layer so that in the future it won't prompt the user, it will just change it to that layer. Then it changes the layers and goes to the next drawing.
I wrote something very simple in LISP, but I need to make it more advanced and try to add in more features. Specifically I would like to be able to do everything in the background, without actually opening the drawings so I can avoid any user prompts or dialogue boxes.
I am at a complete loss at where to start though. There are so many members in the different namespaces for Autocad. Right now I am looking through acdbmgd.dll and acmgd.dll to try and find something useful, but I have no idea where to even start.
My guess would be to first define a method that gathers the layers from the drawing and saves them to an array. For example i would have multiple arrays for the different layers to which I want to convert the old layers, string [] 0layer, string [] walllayer that contains all of the layers to be changed to layer 0 and wall layer. Then I would compare the layers in the drawing to those arrays, if they are not present in any of the arrays, the program would prompt the user and ask which layers they want to change the existing layer to and add it to the appropriate drawing. Then all of the layers in those arrays would be changed to the different new layers.
At the very least, I am going to start making the different arrays to be filled. That much I can do. I'm just having trouble actually getting the data from the drawings.

View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly.
I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.
I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.
So, what are my options?
Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6?
I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.
How do I get a new background into the layers pallet at the same as my subject?

The lock icon is visible in the layers pallate. I can drag that icon to the trash and import another photo but the first photo disapears as the layers all merge on top of one another and the lock icon returns.

I have found the "Export Layers To Files" in File-->Scripts which is pretty slick. I have a PSD file with about 60 layers, so this is handy.
The trick though, is that when they get exported out to a file I want them all to have the same background.
I have a layer that I want to be the background for all the images, right now it's "Layer 1". Is it easy to modify the export all layers script to use Layer 1 on the image copy before saving it? It looks like the script takes each layer, creates a new file, copies the layer (which is transparent) and then saves as a JPG. I just want one extra step in there that will copy the Layer 1 layer for each image too.
I worked the whole day on the design for a new web. Some hours ago I saved the file and closed it. Now I re-open it - and I can't believe what I see! All the previously existing layers have gone, or better: they've been merged down to the "Background" layer! %0
Well, it's no bigger deal to re-do my work, it will have to sacrifice "only" another 1 or 2 hours for it. But I'm quite full of fear that this could happen again! But because I have no idea how this could have happened I don't know what to do better next time...
So does anybody of you have an idea, what could have happened...? I have whether changed the image mode on purpose nor edited the PSD file with another application! I only opened the file with OS X Preview, but this is (as the name implies) only an application for displaying stuff, not to modify it...
